honestly i feel like this is such a perfect loophole to the Devil contract. wish Mizora gave a little nod to it. she said going after Karlach didn't violate the contract bc she had no heart. Wyll didn't violate her orders since Mizora did not specify that Karlach needed to STAY dead xD
😅😅😅 You know I think you're right! I was sitting here thinking "cool but i don't glitch". But it's actually thematically perfect for a devil's contract! 👏👏👏
They should totally write this into the quest when Wyll has doubts about killing her you should be able to persuade him to resurrect her, if Gale can ask you to res him I see no reason Wyll can't ask you to resurrect Karlach.
Lore wise, scroll of revivify isn't supposed to work as it only works within seconds after a target dies. Which is why if you kill Gale, he gives instructions on how to get the scroll of true resurrection. Technically for all you know, you killed a Tiefling Barbarian that only helped out with the Blood war in hell, another soldier of many, how would you know that there is a whole story and campanionship otherwise?
@@Electronica27 Thanks for the info, It always annoyed me that you could res your party but most NPCs had to stay dead. Revivify having that limitation makes more sense. Still that just gives them an excuse to add an epic quest to find a scroll of True ressuriction.
@@kirkalmeida I tried to use the scroll on Hope, but it didn't allow me even thought it was still seconds after death. Kinda annoying that important NPCs don't even get death saving throws, while your party not only get them, but can be revived as well.
@@Coldheart322 so I don't know much about DnD lore, but if I had to write it, I would say that revivify would have to rely on the casters' knowledge about the person they were resurrecting. The better they know the person the easier it would be for them to latch onto the correct soul and call it back to the body, if you know nothing about the person the spell would fail entirely but if you know just a little bit but not enough any evil soul seeking a body could impersonate the person enough to possess the body. Which would apply in the case of Hope.
@kirkalmeida imo I think it'd better like this so that it acts similarly to a defibrillator but magic. Because it also technically doesn't repair the body.
@@wiej007 I'd be disappointed if they did. It's a clever way to beat the devil at her own game. With all the interesting and clever ways you can resolve quests courtesy of Larian, this should be one of them. To me this is similar to the way you can refuse to give up Wyll's soul and still rescue his father in his act 3.
This is amazing, and Wyill won't turn into a devil either (I prefer him without horns). Best of everything. Thing is, there's no way this won't get patched during the next patch, or the one after. Thanks SO much for sharing this, and thanks to the person who made you aware of it!
@@christophermzdenek I feel like if they are gonna allow it, they need to give you some clarity on that though. They should not have patched it. Tricking warlock patrons with their own loopholes is typical DnD roleplay since the game requires you to think creatively
On a similar front to this, I discovered a way the other day to keep Karlach and Wyll in the party while also recruiting Minthara. So you can have infernal robe, non-devil Wyll, Karlach and Minthara all together. :D
I heard it was by ignoring the druid questline altogether, at least the part where you either help or kill the goblins. Simply proceeds to act 2 after getting Wyll and Karlach, then rescue Minthara at act 2 like usual. Mind you, this means the goblins attacked the grove by default, killing a lot of people. Unfortunately, I haven't tested this myself.
@@javelin1423 that's right , if you want them all then simply ignore the raid. I did it at lounch in my first playthrough and did it a couple days ago , works fine. But tieflings died or gone (whatever) not in the grove cuz of goblin raid , cuz the druids still alive (what's the point of spare the druids then ??). Their notes can be found in shadowlands , so tieflings are getting to the shadowlands no matter what
@@javelin1423 the wuestline way is to just do exactly what the tiefling children ask you to do. steal the Idol of Silvanus to stop the ritual. Then leave and proceed to act 2 as normal.
This was also published at fextralife: It is possible to get Robe WITHOUT killing Karlach (as of patch #3): 1) First you recruit Wyll and then leave him camp by ungrouping and going to meet Karlach ALONE. 2) Do not trigger the cutscene with Karlach and kill her, leaving the body. 3) Go back to Wyll and tell him the news of your kill. 4) Going alone go back to Karlach and use a Scroll of Revivify while staying out of range as to not trigger the cutscene. 5) Go back to camp and take a long rest, and having the cutscene with Mizora giving Wyll the robe. 6) Group with Wyll and return to where Karlach is, trigger her initial cutscene, and add her as a companion. Please Larian DO NOT patch this! As one commenter said: This was a Fae move. We played Mizora's own game, abided by the Pact's rules, just as she used "heartless" to forced Wyll to abide by the contract. The target was defeated, the pact upheld, with no clause about resurrecting said target.
The only problem is that the game bugged out, wyll still act like karlach is dead and doesn't exist in the camp and karlach also act like wyll does not exist. Other than that, both is working well.
I want to add ... if you don't go back with Wyll to speak to Karlach, you may loose the robe (it happened to me in my last PT) For this, i would totally call it a bug or, at the very least, not working as intended. But instead of fixing it i really hope they acknowledge it and play around with it a bit becaus it would be fun to see how Mizora respond to this xD
If they do address this in a Patch, I think they should allow Wyll to keep his human form, Karlach joins up, but the robe isnt rewarded. Mizora would aknowledge the clever loophole, but wouldn't reward us for it, just not punish Wyll.
Would make more sense for Mizora to be like, "Nice loophole you found. Very well, keep your reward but you won't be so lucky next time. Ta-ta" because Mizora technically wouldn't find out until a next long rest to realize that Karlach isn't dead (and joined you instead) but have already rewarded Wyll with the robes.
Or devil assassins could attack the camp. Mizora wouldn’t do the dirty work herself, but it does seem like something she would do while denying she had any hand in it. Plus, ambushing your party mid long rest is a tried and true dm tactic
not only do you get karlach and the robe but you also get to play without wyll having been dragged through the hells and made to sprout horns. definitely an interesting twist
THIS. THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING (or maybe?) My curious concern is the next encounter with Mizora as well the people's reaction to Wyll in Act 3 since he will assume his entitlement as the Duke's son to grant entrance to the lower city as well and also the dialogue chances with saving the Duke and Mizora sabotaging it. You sir are giving me a good reason to do a 3rd run from here~! Thanks truly for this!
A note: you don't need to be alone to kill Karlach. You just need to have spoken to Wyll about her and then make sure you attack her from distance so you don't trigger her cutscene. Once she aggros on the party, you can kill her from any range you like. Long as you do those steps, you can use your whole party to get her. Helps with lower-HP casters like my Bard.
@@alvinbgyt5143 Then you're locked into an outcome, either recruiting Karlach or killing her, without revival. This does appear to bug the game in that you're no longer able to send Wyll with Kharlach to Avernus at the end of the game, so your only options are turning her into a Mind Flayer, going with her yourself, or blowing her up.
Not possible. She knows what you did no matter what, so unless you use mods or hacks there is currently no way to raid the grove and keep karlach. There is a way to get karlach and minthara in the same party, but that means avoiding the goblin camp all together
Kill all the lawful good companions (Wyll and Karlach,Gale can be persuaded) then raid the grove see all cutscenes and them revive anyone at Withers, they will ask you what happened but you can shrug it all behing their back, this way you only lose Halsin.
@@scorpiowarrior7841you don't have to avoid the goblin camp or the druid grove. You can go to both buy stuff from the shop interact with everything EXCEPT for minthara herself. You can even kill the two other true souls in the goblin camp but just don't get anywhere near minthara and don't go into the area she is in once you start killing goblins. I'm not sure if you can interact with halsin. I didn't in my second playthrough so I don't have halsin. After confronting kagha about the dark druids (I didn't kill her) I never interacted with the goblin camp after. I was able to recruit minthara in act 2, have karlach and wyll but the thieflings are dead and the rest of the goblin camp too.
@@TheOptimistDelusionrobe is pretty good for an Act 1 item considering it has a level 4 spell for free attached. Especially equipped on a martial character that wears clothing like Monk or Barbarian. Also combined with Armour of Agarthy you can to do 35 cold and fire damage from just someone hitting you.
Thank you for sharing this. One of the things I found funny about this questline, is the anomaly if you play a warlock. When you first meet Mizora, if you take the Warlock dialogue and refer to her as his 'patron', she says that she prefers the term 'handler'. Then in a few seconds, she call herself his 'patron'. LOL my OCD loves disconnects.
The devs will probably know about it So instead of patching it they could just change the narrative (why fix that isn’t really broken)the hidden loophole will be a hidden optional choice And a hidden achievement (well played) I also hope their will be an achievement of outsmarting the devils in the game
if you think about it, in act 3, you can Save Wylls Soul, break his pact, Sacrifice his father and Still save him from the Iron Throne and they both win. So this makes sense too.
OK, I did this and it worked; Wyll stayed human, got the robe, and Karlach joined my party and all was good. However, patch 5 just dropped (11/30/2023) and logging in, Wyll is now has devil horns. He still has the infernal robe, and the quest text claims that "Mizora is pleased...." so this seems to be cosmetic only so far, but still a bummer.
It has always worked on companions pre recruitment most recruitable companions even have reactions to you reviving them. But karlach is one of the only ones that stays hostile if you revive her after killing her. But only if you do it via conversation
@brettmurf as far as I can tell it's like the companion version of her is a different character entirely. Given that companion version has different stats an skills I'd say that's why
I guess it's a companion only thing. I didn't fully recruit Laezel. I basically left her in the trap cuz I failed the deception check and wasnt gonna kill for her. I didn't run into her til I got to the Gith Patrol and when we had to fight, she died. I thought that was it, but something told me to see if I could resurrect her, and surprisingly I could. Got to recruit her and avoid all the weird flirting and propositioning she does(I actually quite like Laezel, but I'd be lying if I said her flirting didnt throw me off in the beginning)
It still works, you don't have to have just Wyll in your party and you don't have to kill karlach alone. You do however have to have Wyll in your party when he receives the robe or it won't show up in your inventory!!
yes, they should "patch" it by instead doubling down and making it an official path you can take. Maybe even add achievement too, who knows. It'd also be a great way to set up and foreshadow the future moments where you outwit her, for players that naturally think of taking this path on their own.
I love wyll both turned and not, but this is something that would legit happen on a dnd session and that's just golden. Edit (patch 5) : ok which one of you snitches told Larian?
Jeez this is exactly what i needed. My main issue was i wanted to not kill Karlach, but i personally really don't like Devil Wyll. Going to reload 15 hours of save now so i can do this x)
What happens with the rest of the storyline? You've apparently flicked the dead karlach flag but she's alive... so, which conversation thread does it follow foy Wyll?
@smol_pupper123 No, the game for Wyll progresses as if he was never transformed into a devil. That said, he left my party before the end of act 1, so I dunno what would happen after that.
Basically you can have it both ways where Wyll's flags that do not involve Karlach proceed as if he killed her, hers obviously proceed as if he saved her, and in the inner join of the two flags they proceed as if he saved her because Karlach has her own events and triggers and therefore her state of existing as a companion has more impact on the game. The truth is though it's a relatively small overlap of events that require checking both.
Great Video I saw so many people posting videos about secrets where they just showed smth everyone would find in his first run. But this is really smth new
I hope it doesn't get patched. This is the sort of word-wrangling that it would take to out-trick Mizora. Karlach's dead, Mizora didn't say she had to -stay- dead.
Definitely a bug. And given you have to avoid the cutscene before killing her, probably a scenario they specifically wanted to avoid. It'd be cool if they recorded new dialog to fit this in. Like an ability check dialog option to try it, fight still happens, long rest get the robe, revive, next long rest Mizora comes back with a compliment and new order that results in tiefling Wyll if you don't kill Karlach permanently.
Yeah, coming from the future.. I think this got patched because when I try to do this now, it doesn’t work because it won’t allow me to me the cutscene while Karlach is alive
uhg figures .. this is why we can't have nice things lol they're not patching some items stay open after hitting space bar and you have to manually close them but they took away a loophole -_-
It sucks that they patched this. Hell, it would have been better if they just took away the ability to get the robe but actually acknowledged the characters out-deviling a devil! The player satisfaction from that alone is worth it, and let the robe be danned 😂
I swear you can do anything in this game, I just used Invisible and turned based mode to rob every merchant in Baldurs Gate then buy their best stuff with their own money :) Love it!
I suppose the contract says that Wyll has to kill her but doesn't mention anything about ressing her afterwards. I wonder if Mizora will comment on this at some point or if it was entirely unintentional for Larian to be able to do this.
Judging by the Wyll's dialogue when talking to Karlach (which is the same as if you talk to her normally) it's not intentional. Mizora told him that she's a tiefling refugee and then he goes 'she's not a devil, I've been deceived' anyway. But i wonder how the game progresses from there, he's in a state where he's not transformed (meaning he killed Karlach, not sure how different his storyline is at this point), but Karlach is in the party leading to possible outcome where he goes to with her, that is bound to cause some weird interactions in Act 3.
@@bezrodnyigor The game probably doesn't do 'checks' that far back into the game to prevent continuation problems. Like they don't check 'if Wyll has horns, do X", the easier check to make sure the game run smoothly is, "If Wyll and Karlach are in same party, have option XYZ be possible", that way, the game doesn't care if Karlach was killed by Wyll or not at one point (or there to witness it), it only cares if Wyll and Karlach are in the party/team.
@@Than211 That depends on how flags are written into the savegame DB and which flag the particular quest/dialogue checks. You can have a flag set in Wyll's questline that implies he killed Karlach and a flag set that you have her in your party and the game would check for whatever is more relevant for the situation, i.e. Wyll's father reaction to him would depend on whether he's in his human or demon form while interaction between Mizora and Karlach would check if she's in the party. But that doesn't account for Wyll sparing Karlach but later losing her from the party through other means (I believe she will leave if you side with Absolute in Act 1), so both checks would take place... Checking for flags is fast in terms of performance (and it doesn't happen in in the tick), it's a matter of how complex the questline is and how many variables affect the current outcome, or more specifically how many variables devs have accounted for. For example in act one (in release version at least), if you progress until you get the quest to save the duke (save people in burning building), then go back to the grove to recruit Wyll, you will get dialogue where MC tells him something along the lines of 'why didn't you tell that you're the duke's son, never lie to me again', then you get the dialogue about being together on the ship, let's work together and all that stuff. So the game doesn't check for him not being in your party and the dialogue about duke takes priority over his recruitment dialogue. Same with Wyll and going through the mountain pass after the Last Light Inn. In the Inn you learn that his father was take to the tower and get to the next quest stage, but if you do a fight in the Mountain Pass and pick up a note about duke being taken to the Shadowlands, this will trigger exclamation mark above his head as if you need to talk to him. When you do though, there's no new dialogue as you're already on the next stage of the quest so here we have UI and dialogue working with different conditions. But also, since it's all part of one quest, it can be as simple as recruitment dialogue for Karlach triggering appropriate Wyll's quest stage anyway making Mizora appear again on the next rest (that can happen for example if the dialogue is scripted to set the certain fixed quest stage and queue Mizora appearance without additional checks). Designing event system for the game like this must've been fun...
@@bezrodnyigor It's probably programmed with a flag priority system where later flags or more important flags have higher priority than earlier ones. So for example this one they probably still go to *spoiler* together. Because they are both in party and when the event comes up if it detects a conflict between the flags the most graceful way to deal with that apparent failure state is to say "If the player has Karlach then they MUST have broken the pact." Even if all other flags say they didn't the existence of Karlach in the companion possibilities is the overriding concern because it has the most impact on the game (as Karlach has her own events and triggers) whereas the inner join of Wyll and Karlach triggers is relatively small in comparison.
@@milhousevanhoutan9235 I agree, Wyll's pact is irrelevant to the situation, what matters is having Karlach and him being Blade of Avernus (if he's a duke, you won't have this option). Now another question is whether him becoming Blade of Avernus depends on his transformation in the first place (I didn't have a playthrough where he is human so no idea)... But that's all speculative, some of the quests in the game are scripted in weird ways, especially in Act 3.
It would be very interesting to see some variation of this occur in the actual game. Since you/Wyll technically are fulfilling the contract by killing Karlach in the first place.
A little spoiler to act 3 here. I remember not killing Karlach but she died once after defeating Tyr's. Then i went to camp and slept before resting (technically she is still in my party) and Mizora appeared and suddenly the cutscene got interrupted. So he didnt get turn and i didnt get the robe. The game kept thinking that i killed her yet she was alive. The problem is that when i reached act 3, saved Mizora and went to Gortash, Mizora wasn't here to offer me to save Wyll's father. So i did the Gortash ceremony, took a few rests. By this time, i should have gotten a cut scene where Wyll should be offered another pact to save his father but i didnt get it. Later, going down the underwater prison, Wyll's father was already dead when i arrived. Im not sure why this happened, but my first theory is cus of the Karlach glitch
Most likely resets the story line since Karlach and Wyll have the truce dialogue but it'd be more confirmed if there is another long rest scene @@arbitraryify
I did this, and you can take your entire party to Karlach, just don't get the intro dialog. If anything, i think Larian will fix the dialog. I was a little disappointed that Wyll wasn't surprised when i brought Karlach back to camp afterwards. I figured it out while talking to Wyll about his eye, and then tried this and it worked. You outwitted a Devil, without using any bugs or glitches, i will be disappointed if Larian patches it out.
Patch 5: Mizora should appear for her judgement of Wyll only when Karlach is actually dead. (Resurrecting her will cancel the moment.) If Wyll somehow managed to avoid Mizora's punishment for keeping Karlach alive, he'll be punished retroactively.
That's been my experience since patch 5 too. I tried resurrecting her after the cut scene too and it disables the resurrection action for her unfortunately.
so they patched the reward out it seems. I got the cutscene Wyll wears the robe in. But It wasnt in any inventory after that. Still got Karlach and unhorned Wyll
I really hope they add this- You abided by the contract. Karlach did die. Will fulfilled his bargain. I’d love if he got a different variant of the robe
After trying for a very long time in game and not getting it to work I went through patch notes of each patch (searched for "Karlach" in each page, to not have to read everything), this method was blocked in Patch 5, so if someone is seeing this video, there is no point in trying this. Damn it, my character is a warlock and is in pact of the blade and wants to go full melee with a two handed weapon (instead of holding a shield and doing less damage), this robe could have been perfect for him at this stage, but I guess it can't be done, and my character can only wear light armor, so going or clothes, so going melee without a shield would be dangerous, and with shield it's less damage ☹ (I want Karlach, at least in my first playthrough, maybe in other playthroughs I'll start experimenting with interesting choices, but not now). If someone knows of another way please let me know, I couldn't find another workaround, because maybe there is one that the developers know about and I didn't find it, because the patch notes say "If Wyll somehow managed to avoid Mizora's punishment for keeping Karlach alive, he'll be punished retroactively.", so maybe that's just horns and keeping the infernal robe is possible, but I don't know how.
Followed step by step - for some reason the cutscene with mizora doesnt trigger for me when i bring her back at all no matter how many long rests....what am i doing wrong
I think they patched this. I had done this. Got the robe, no horns and karlach still alive! But after update 5. When I logged in, wyll had his horns! He didn’t before the update. So probably got fixed but not sure since I was in act 3 when I saw him with it again. Just have to try and see if it works for anyone looking to try
just did this! when you recruit karlach into your party, you'll see that she's keeping her head in her inventory xD so i guess this method still gets you the robe, the sword, and karlach as a companion
That entire exchange feels like a bug that will get hotfixed later in the release line. Because you technically completed the quest, it shouldnt be possible to revive Karlach. She should count as part of the regular npc group.
@@Sirithil I would have agreed if the game didnt reset Wyll's Dialogue with Karlach to before you reported her death to him. If it just let you rez her, and Mizora brought it up later on, then I'd welcome it. But since it resets dialogue it can only be a bug.
I just did exactly as you said... but after reviving Karlach and then trying to long rest, no cutscene happened? The journal still says to long rest and acts like Karlach is dead, but no matter how many times I long rest, it doesn't trigger. So, I uh... I think they patched it? ...that or I am missing some minor detail.
I wish Mizora came back to "punish" Wyll after you resurrect Karlach... Those horns look quite dapper on him (and it makes romancing him as a tiefling a lot more interesting)
the robe is very nice, but even better you can have wyll without horns!!! i hope they dont change this in any future pact. i hate the fact the you cannot avoid normal human wyll without killing her...
I tryed today and i think ita not working anymore. I get the cutscene where mizora spawns the armor on wyll but after the dialog the armor istnt in the inventory.
Did you long rest after killing Karlach? If you massacre the grove Wyll will leave. You can trigger the druids and tieflings to fight each other though.
@@mediumvillain I longrested Misora came to the camp rewarded will got the cutscene and all but after that wyll just had his normal outfitt and no robe anywhere.
Yeah I'll be surprised if this doesn't get patched. They might do something like make it a requirement for Wyll to assist the fake paladins of Tyr, meaning you have to remove Karlachs head, which I suspect would then make her unable to be resurrected
I hate that this was patched out, especially since revival in d&d works on ANYONE you want to use it on, even enemies. It's so dumb that they made it party members only.
@Alex-fb3ck If that were the case then Karlach would just go right back to Zariel when she died, making her wish to die rather than return to Avernus a useless endeavour. So either Larian fucked up her story line by making her a free soul that isn't able to be affected by resurrection, or they fucked up her storyline by ignoring the fact that she'd be re-bound to Zariel in death. Your pick. Besides, that doesn't change the fact that you should just be able to resurrect anyone, not just player characters.
Thats actually a wise move tricking the devil. You have to kill the target. But nobody said the target needs to stay dead. Its not our fault we live in a world in which we can revive people.

@kirkalmeida imo I think it'd better like this so that it acts similarly to a defibrillator but magic. Because it also technically doesn't repair the body.

It is possible to get Robe WITHOUT killing Karlach (as of patch #3):
1) First you recruit Wyll and then leave him camp by ungrouping and going to meet Karlach ALONE.

Not really. The scene just plays again and Mizora turns Wyll into a devil. You simply bugged the game for a little while.
@tyler-hp7oq you missed their point they're saying this could work lore wise, everbody knows this is a bug its just a bug that makes sense in lore

This does appear to bug the game in that you're no longer able to send Wyll with Kharlach to Avernus at the end of the game, so your only options are turning her into a Mind Flayer, going with her yourself, or blowing her up.
I think this is totally fair and I hope they don't patch it out as Mizora tricked Wyll into wanting to kill Karlach, so why not trick her back.
Cheating the devil I see. Now how can I slaughter the druid village and recruit Karlach ?

One of the things I found funny about this questline, is the anomaly if you play a warlock. I am surprised the revive scroll works on Karlach even before you recurit her.. usually it will only work on allies, when you recurited.
It has always worked on companions pre recruitment most recruitable companions even have reactions to you reviving them.
But karlach is one of the only ones that stays hostile if you revive her after killing her. But only if you do it via conversation
@@alek2913Jaheira got herself killed at Moonrise tower for me, and was just as dead as any NPC.
@brettmurf as far as I can tell it's like the companion version of her is a different character entirely. Given that companion version has different stats an skills I'd say that's why
Totally agree with you, I should test it because I always couldn't revive a dead origin character before I recruited him
I guess it's a companion only thing.
It's a shame they won't let us do this more naturally and just outright trick mizora and then revive Karlach as a straight option
It still works, you don't have to have just Wyll in your party and you don't have to kill karlach alone.
You do however have to have Wyll in your party when he receives the robe or it won't show up in your inventory!!
It's pretty much in the spirit of the game to outwit Mizora. I love this
yes, they should "patch" it by instead doubling down and making it an official path you can take. Maybe even add achievement too, who knows. It'd also be a great way to set up and foreshadow the future moments where you outwit her, for players that naturally think of taking this path on their own.
I love wyll both turned and not, but this is something that would legit happen on a dnd session and that's just golden.

Damn, you outplayed, outsmarted, outwitted the devil. Classic DnD adventure
What happens with the rest of the storyline?
You've apparently flicked the dead karlach flag but she's alive... so, which conversation thread does it follow foy Wyll?
The flags switch to Karlach being alive after you revive her. Her death isn't brought up again after the scene with Mizora if you revive her.
Dont know. I played to little to know for now. But there only one way to find out. Time to continue mine 3rd playthoruth.
@smol_pupper123more important does Wyll? Does he spontaneously sprout them in act2/3?
One of the best videos I’ve ever needed for this game!!! Thank you 🙏
Definitely a bug.
I was patched i can't triggered the cutscene
uhg figures .. this is why we can't have nice things lol they're not patching some items stay open after hitting space bar and you have to manually close them but they took away a loophole -_-

BG3 is just amazing!! So many choices. Game of the year imo.
It sucks that they patched this. Hell, it would have been better if they just took away the ability to get the robe but actually acknowledged the characters out-deviling a devil! The player satisfaction from that alone is worth it, and let the robe be danned 😂

Omg this actually worked! Thank you!
Weirdly enough, this armor looks great on Karlach.
glad i found this love wyll without horns and keeping karlach is a diffrent game now :d
This is great, thank you. Lucky enough to so this before the patch.
Does this affect encounters with Mizora later on?
This is bound to have issues, unless they planned for it - and I don't think they did - as Mizora has dialog with Karlach
It shouldn't be patched... as it is lore friendly. What a genius exploit ❤❤❤
I should've kept Wyll alive to gear my own warlock. I can't believe I vaporized him before knowing this.
Patch 5: Mizora should appear for her judgement of Wyll only when Karlach is actually dead. (Resurrecting her will cancel the moment.)
If Wyll somehow managed to avoid Mizora's punishment for keeping Karlach alive, he'll be punished retroactively.
That's been my experience since patch 5 too. I tried resurrecting her after the cut scene too and it disables the resurrection action for her unfortunately.
I tried to resurrect before cutscene like this and no cut scene is playing
I actually did this last night before I even found this video. Glad some other people found this as well.
20th of December 2023: It would appear this has now been patched and can't be done anymore... 😢
this game keeps delivering... bravo!
so they patched the reward out it seems. I got the cutscene Wyll wears the robe in. But It wasnt in any inventory after that. Still got Karlach and unhorned Wyll
To get the robe take Wyll in team before the long rest, that way it'll stay on Wyll after cut scene.
I really hope they add this-
You abided by the contract.
Damn it, my character is a warlock and is in pact of the blade and wants to go full melee with a two handed weapon (instead of holding a shield and doing less damage), this robe could have been perfect for him at this stage, but I guess it can't be done, and my character can only wear light armor, so going or clothes, so going melee without a shield would be dangerous, and with shield it's less damage ☹
(I want Karlach, at least in my first playthrough, maybe in other playthroughs I'll start experimenting with interesting choices, but not now).
Could you please add chapters separating the video's content? It would make navigating the video so much easier!
Hoping so, thank you.
What if you KO Karlach ?
Followed step by step - for some reason the cutscene with mizora doesnt trigger for me when i bring her back at all no matter how many long rests....what am i doing wrong

Patch 5 on December 1st, 2023 closed this loophole, sadly! Mizora will only appear if Karlach is still dead.
Omg, you are a really Genius, I'll try in my next run!
😂😂😂
That entire exchange feels like a bug that will get hotfixed later in the release line. Because you technically completed the quest, it shouldnt be possible to revive Karlach. She should count as part of the regular npc group.
I think they should leave this in - it feels like loopholing the contract. Very thematically appropriate - you outdevil a devil.
Agreed, don't need to be punished via losing opportunities
@@Sirithil I would have agreed if the game didnt reset Wyll's Dialogue with Karlach to before you reported her death to him. If it just let you rez her, and Mizora brought it up later on, then I'd welcome it. But since it resets dialogue it can only be a bug.
I just did exactly as you said... but after reviving Karlach and then trying to long rest, no cutscene happened? The journal still says to long rest and acts like Karlach is dead, but no matter how many times I long rest, it doesn't trigger. So, I uh... I think they patched it? ...that or I am missing some minor detail.
It’s patched. Can’t do it anymore. 😢
You don’t revive Karlach till after you take a long rest
I wish Mizora came back to "punish" Wyll after you resurrect Karlach... Those horns look quite dapper on him (and it makes romancing him as a tiefling a lot more interesting)
I tried this but can't get the Mizora Cutscene to appear after resurrecting Karlach but not triggering her cutscene. Did they patch this out or what?
im sure they did, coz i tried it too and nothing, i think i cant even revive her after killing her like normal npcs
the robe is very nice, but even better you can have wyll without horns!!! i hope they dont change this in any future pact. i hate the fact the you cannot avoid normal human wyll without killing her...

Cool thanks! How does this affect wylls story? Is he considered part demon?
Doesn't work anymore, well at least for me though
"Found a way to get the infernal robe without killing Karlach"
"Now attack and kill Karlach"
The game has updated, now do this is not possible.
😭 💔
Yeah It's fixed
This actually seems like it should be a legit loophole. Order was to kill her, not to keep her dead, not to not resurrect her after.
Yeah I'll be surprised if this doesn't get patched. They might do something like make it a requirement for Wyll to assist the fake paladins of Tyr, meaning you have to remove Karlachs head, which I suspect would then make her unable to be resurrected
You're not supposed to be able to revive companions before recruiting them, so that's probably what they'll fix
@complainer406 you are actually, Asterion has dialogue for it.
@@complainer406false. You can kill and revive back companion before recruit as long as you don't initiate dialogue with them.
This feels like getting Dynaheir and Edwin in the same party in BG1.
So glad I found this, after beating the game and ending in the hells, I was tearing up as I was getting to the point of having to kill her for Will
Does Wyll still turn into a devil?
No
Could I bring a team with me as long as Wyll isn't in it? I don't think my Monk could solo Karlach just yet lol
Just tested this and it still works if anyone is curious
i cant bring myself to down Karlach
How do you trigger this scene to get the infernal robe? When I do this and long rest it starts cutscenes from other characters.
*checks fine print*
"Nothing in here about needing Karlah's soul"
*opens scroll*
Thats actually a wise move tricking the devil. You have to kill the target. But nobody said the target needs to stay dead. Its not our fault we live in a world in which we can revive people.
EDIT
i tryed again and i did it ^^
awesome, tnx!
Patch 5 won’t allow cutscene with wyll if you kill karlach and revive her.
This whole thing is just "You may have outsmarted me, but I have outsmarted your outsmarting!"
Even more impressive than the robe is that Will remains in human form with Karlach in the party!
