    For real combos, set the output to POWER AMP and disable the cabinet simulator. For LINE (direct to a mixer ou PC) set the output to LINE and enable the cabinet simulator.
    This simple procedure will magicaly solve the harsh sound or muddy tones for overdriven sounds.

      how do you disable cab sim ? is cab sim only go for using the zoom direct into PC...I'm using through Fender Super champ and may try it on my Boss Katana

      @@sneadmc I don't remember anymore, but you can look at the manual or some G1 setting's youtube video. It's not hard to find this information.
      It works for all amps.

    Great video. I create my own sounds with the G1Xon. It good to know someone else is pushing it.

    Hi Bill! Use this pedaler few months ago , know that you can set a lot and change much sounds from the floorboard , have several configurations, the truth that for the price / quality is not much to criticize , as always end up tweaking what we recorded ( which we recorded guitar on the pc) with any of the various external ediores there in market!
    Saludos! Buen video, lindo equipo & guitar!
    And good that his touch old green day :)

    Huh, interesting. I'll try this for tonight's practice session. I've felt a little bit letdown by the Zoom's distorted sounds so far.

    "Tubey" is definitely a word! English is the most versatile language in the world (prove me wrong!) so have no fear of inventing words. Trust me, your English teachers won't hold it against you, Mr. Art Creator.
    The "amp stack" tone is sweeeet.
    By the way, what are those pickups you have loaded in your guitar?
    Thanks for the video review!

    I discovered this when I routed my G1Xon through a Blackstar ID:Core 10 and tried different channels on the Blackstar to make the Zoom sound good in tandem with the Blackstar. It seemed that most crunch or heavier tones from the Zoom sounded super nice on the Blackstar's Clean Bright channel, which is modelled after a pushed Fender. Later I noticed the Zoom's own Fender model could be used similarly.
    Now I wonder if others with Fender-ish amps owning a Zoom G1on/G1Xon have achieved similar results.

      Id like to add that I haven't found any combination of boost/overdrive/distortion pedal models in front of an amp model on the Zoom itself that achieve a sound that's as pleasing to the ears.

      I use a TC spark booster as clean boost into a Joyo vintage overdrive everything set at 10 o clock into a ts9 everything set at 9 o clock. I then use ZNR on zoom everytime in first block and use this guy's 2 amp technique. I leave out the arena reverb and just use a delay on last block. Going into a Blackstar core id40 I can either use clean bright or warm depending and the tone is amazing. You don't need anything else. I sometimes use a Magicstomp on the emulated output of blackstar which is in an FX loop on my mixer. The zoom and blackstar combo is amazing. Oh and the two Tubescreamers shape your tone nicely. Remember to lower vol on guitar to around 5 and roll tone off.

    You can control the noise and hiss if there's enough CPU headroom left by putting the ZNR after the second amp, and setting it to Gtrin with the Threshold between 10 and 15.

    Love the sound you've got. Do you have any problems with noise? I'm getting a lot of noise when I'm not playing with some of the drives.

    • @kubicki2000
      @kubicki2000  7 років тому

      This one's a little noisy but there is room to use the ZNR noise reduction on it. Check out this video -> ua-cam.com/video/Ko3M6Wa1LvU/v-deo.html . My original G1Xon died and when it did I had to recreate this patch. When I did, I posted a new video with settings. The ZNR is set a little too aggressive (cuts things a bit too soon) but you can see all of the settings I had and go from there. I will say the higher gain amps instead of the Marshall or God forbid, instead of the Fender will make more noise as well.

  • @kubicki2000

    I'd love to but I killed my G1Xon. I used a USB power supply from a cell phone. Worked great for a while but then started being a little whacky and then the screen died. As for the settings I'm pretty sure I just found a "Marshall stack" patch and added the FD amp and the cab with no other major changes.

    Question?..the Zoom (£59...that is mental) patches against an expensive rig thingy...if blindfolded, could you tell the difference? I use the iPad a lot and am sure I can tell the difference between say, Arturia iSEM and the PC version in Ableton. Both of which I love to bits. But as a guitarist, I'd love to see a real world example like those blindfold food tests but with cheap and expensive emulations. Maybe one day?

    • @kubicki2000
      @kubicki2000  7 років тому

      I love my Zoom but I also have a Fractal Audio Axe FX Ultra that was over $2000 new. The hard part is trying to be honest and get as close to the same target sound on both. And just because it sounds better for one thing doesn't mean it will for everything. You could end up with a classic Marshall vs. Fender type demo where both are great but for different reasons. I'll try come up with something and see if someone can hear the difference in 2 things that have a 2800% difference in price.

      No, you can't use the USB on this model for anything other than firmware updates or to provide power. I used a USB power adapter from a Samsung phone and it killed the G1Xon so I would caution on using USB for power. Thankfully I found one cheap on Black Friday and should have a replacement soon including the factory Zoom power adapter. FYI, the next model up Zoom G3 does have a USB audio interface built in. It has 16 additional effects and allows you to chain 6 effects at once vs. 5. It's over twice the price of the G1Xon though at $150.

      Hi Bill! Great video, thanx for sharing your patch with us. I just found out recently that there's a librarian for the G1 and other Zoom models, like G3, MS50, MS70, etc... You can organize your patches and transfer using the USB! Check it out here: zoompatches.com/

    • @kubicki2000
      @kubicki2000  8 років тому +1

      It's a Dearmond M66. Dearmond used to be Guild's line of imported guitars. They don't make them any more but I've owned 2 of these now and really like them. Great sounding pickups and the neck feels nice to me. You can often find one for around $200 which is a great deal if you like the Les Paul sound but not the Les Paul price.

    How do you record the audio of the guitar ?

    • @kubicki2000
      @kubicki2000  6 років тому +1

      The guitar audio is direct into a Focusrite Saffire 6 USB interface. Voice is coming through a Samsung Galaxy S6 used to record the video. I lower the sound on the S6 audio when I am playing via software edit. This way you only hear the good direct sound.
