Cool mod. Nice to be able to swivel when a big toothy spins you around. Idea-wise, my neighbor on our river added outriggers to his canoe and a stand-up bar so he could flyfish in a standing position. Awesome results. The outriggers and stand up bar were easily removable for when he headed into narrow creeks or was transporting it. Note: with all those Timbits, probably not a bad idea to build in some "fart drainage holes."
How's the stability on it? I've seen they are rated for 660 pounds? I have the option between a 97 Coleman ram-x or a pelican Bayou 160 that is rated for 800 pounds. Want to choose the more stable option, any opinion would be appreciated
It’s honestly not bad at all. Our seats weren’t screwed down before this and we found that when they slid around it could get a little sketchy but ever since we’ve added these seats it’s been a dream! And The flat bottom on the scanoe is 10/10 - game changer.
Love the video, we have the same canoe and have been wondering what to get for swivel seats. Where did you purchase the seats themselves? Canadian sites. Thanks!
@@floridaescapades4837 just went to send you the link from Amazon and they’re now showing as “currently unavailable”, but the name is Wise 5410 Canoe Seat, so you can order them right from the American Wise website. However any rigid folding boat seat should fit the swivel bracket!
Re: Tipping Look into a wingman outfitter. It's an outrigger system that fits any canoe. Pricey, but OH MAN does it completely eliminate the fear of tipping. You can fish from a raised platform or literally jump out of the boat and pull yourself back in. Bonus is that it keeps your food and drinks cold, or keeps fresh-caught fish on ice. Not affiliated with them in any way but I bought one a few years ago and I will never, ever go back. Cheers and happy paddling from Canada.
Glen D Glad you like the video! We got our canoe seats from Amazon and the swivel base from Cabelas! The seats are “The Wise Company Canoe Seat” We bought them years ago off amazon and used just the wire to hold them on, but then upgraded them.
I found the seat swivels on Bass pro website and for my seats from “bass boat seats”... I made my mount and put it together a few weeks ago. It works great and since I’m 6’4” it’s nice to have the seat up higher than the original canoe seat.
Glen D Sorry for our late reply! Sometimes we don’t get notifications when people comment on our posts for some reason, so we were just scrolling through and saw this one! Happy to hear you made the new seats work! Weston also has long legs so he noticed quite a big difference when we raised the seats up. Much better on the knees for sure!
For 20$ you can buy a Wally's world office chair, remove the legs and you have a bass seat that spins, has height adjustment, leans back, and with a few attachments to the arm rest you have a cup holder, tool holder and rod holder for a tenth of the price. JS
Good video,,, You must be really good at fishing cause she sure didn’t marry for your Coleman !
Love the video!! I want more how stuff,

Oh hot damn those seats look pleasant. Look at all that lean angle you can apply. #jealous

What brand and where did you buy the actual boat seats? I’m going to do the same thing to my canoe. Thanks for the great idea!

Can you verify the type of screws you used along with size and length? Also, where you purchased your screws?
Browsing comments and has nobody mentioned the fart drain? 😅😅😂
Where did you get the seats? Thank you Steve
The seats were found on amazon
You know I live in Cardston Alberta I know some pretty good places if you ever wanna go fishing
Hey! That would wicked! We will definitely have to hit a lake around Cardston sometime :)
Where did you find those seats?

If your spending money and time already, just get the right size screws.
Plastic lumber would be a better choice.
Higher center of gravity
kinezo1961 Zero noticeable difference compared to seats sliding around on built in canoe seat. In fact I’d say even more stable feeling
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
