Old age actually suits these guys. It makes them seem more vampiric and cadaverous, which really enhances the aesthetic!
I can only hope to be called vampiric and cadaverous in my old age.
@@michael-davidblostein9766 If you want to fast track the process, go Vegan
EXACTLY!!!
At least Pete Murphy’s given up on the creepy uncle look he seemed to perfect a couple of years ago!
@@thelwulfeoforlic6482 ha - I liked when he looked like a bad guy in a hammer film
Cant believe his voice is so similar to the 80s 😮😮😮 incredible
I just fucking love Peter Murphy. He still sounds so damned epic. The man was born a rock star.
He is and always will be
Stop using the word epic. Don’t use “amazing” either. Even Peter would be annoyed.
@@gmar7836Stop saying “stop using”.
I was there and it wasn’t lost on me that a blood moon rose that night whilst Bauhaus was performing this song
Bauhaus has EXQUISITE timing
Also your use of the word whilst is exquisitely timed
Saw bauhaus twice in one week at the Lyceum London in 1982. I was 19. (I'm 57 now!) Wrote to Peter shortly afterwards and he replied with full letter, photos etc. Nice guy who made the effort
Awesome.
Aye, I was also lucky to see Bauhaus live. You never forget them.
That’s sooo cool 😎 man. Thank you 🙏 for sharing
Really cool
This is the greatest mix of Goth, reggae dub and a curious bassanova beat. Bauhaus is dark perfection.
Bossa Nova*
I stumbled on 'The Hunger' for the first time ever a week ago and that opening scene blew me away. One of the baddest opening scene ever and 'Bela Lugosi's Dead' is one of the baddest jams to boot.
This was unreal in person! And they performed with the blood moon on Sunday! It was perfect and spooky
Awesome…👍
awww that would have been great
Epic
I was there too and their performance under the moon was unforgettable. I'll always treasure that memory.
I was there as well, it was so spooky with that moon and honestly just perfect. I was photographing the show. It was epic!
Peter Murphy is lucky in that he's got that kind of baritone voice that actually improves with age up to a point. If he takes care of himself he could do this for another decade. Best band ever!
you mean "lay off the meth"
His voice resonates.
just listen
This is a sonic masterpiece. This will be played 300 years from now.
if we are still around
Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make.

Dude looks 60
So .... 🔥
I was there too and this was electrifying in person. When I say every person there was just transfixed and singing along. They cast a spell on 20,000 people. Goosebumps.
They were the main reason I was there and seeing them was like having an out of body experience. I still think about their performance!!!
Really good to see Bauhaus play the song as we heard it back in the day. The attention to detail is second to none .
They sound incredible and Peter looks SO GOOD!!! I haven't seen him look that good in a long time
I was there this night. This with the full moon in the sky it made this whole performance seem unreal. Was truly amazing.
The anthem of the Goths. Saw them in 1981. Unbelievable Bauhaus is still impressive, dark, spherical.
Yes. Very round. Very spherical. Like a globe or something. 😁
Actually it's a dub reggae masterpiece.
@@keirfarnum6811 I thought of a great port-manteau: atmospherical! Something which is atmospheric AND spherical at the same time! Like the music of Bauhaus, which is both atmospheric and, as the lady points out, spherical. Not a plane on the surface of this band, boy. No tangent line parallel to another tangent line on Bauhaus. Must be why I like 'em so much.
I remember hearing this as the opening credits to 'The Hunger' and liked it immediately. Always been a fan of Peter Murphy.
The underrated movie with Catherine Deneuve David Bowie ans Susan Sarandon. This song is played at the opening scene in a discotheque. 1980's Gothic, it left an impression.
I first seen them perform this more than 40 years ago.....still as good
For me, Nottingham...in a cellar. Maybe 1978?
Cela fait 40 ans que j’écoute cette chanson avec le même plaisir
Ich auch
I remember, as a teenager, my cousin gave me a Bauhaus t-shirt which i wore with absolute pride.. for a month.. before actually hearing the band!! Became a permanent fan from then on!! Understand, i was poor.. so my only exposure was nicking music off alternative radio stations... which didnt exist in S.Africa in the late 80s
Did you get to hear the Kalahari Surfers back then?
I was there both nights and it was even better in person. What you don't see are the big screens they had, which had black and white video of the band which made them even more spooky looking with the lighting. It was amazing. Especially the second night with the lunar eclipse happening. It was a peak goth moment.
I clicked this expecting it to be an awful live performance considering how old Peter Murphy is, his voice is literally the same as the studio version decades ago.. it's really incredible.
Where have you been for the last 40 years? Murphy has recorded and toured non-stop for all those years!
Same here.
Oh ye of little faith.
@@Drammon1 oh ye of little faith in other people having faith.
@@bryanl3452 ok lol 😂
No one plays the guitar like Daniel Ash. so underrated
Close your eyes and this could be 1982. They sound amazing!
Peter Murphy still sings this so Beautifully, & Eloquently; he is SO Amazing!! I have adored this song for many years, & had a crush on all of them!! 🤗😍💓❤️🔥
Such a fundamental song of my youth …..a darkness ….captured so well
Fact is Bela Lugosi died 66 years ago, but this song lives on..............
CHILLS!!! When the crowd sang back. Pure Brillance!
Peter be looking cool as always what a great band! Daniel Ash guitar god David J holding it down with Kevin legendary sound!
Thanks for posting!
Get better soon Peter! Gonna miss seeing you and the clan
Holy shit this is actually giving me chills.
Me too!!!
I was there, right in the middle of the front section behind the vip cage. It was one of the best performances I’ve ever seen and that moment was electric. My phone died during She’s In Parties so I’m thrilled there are other good videos of this.
Last saw them in the early 2000's at the Wiltern. Glad they're still sounding so good. Sad I missed this, but no longer live in L.A. I did hear all of the Elder Goths were there to represent! Awesome!
I was at those shows. Fantastic.
Wow music and voice still incredible!!! Goosebumps
I remember first hearing this and falling in love with Peter's voice...I'm in love all over again
Just saw them in Portland the other night. Phenomenal. Through and through.
Peter was Great back in the beginning and he is still Great. Age isn’t nothing but a Number
i can’t wait to see them live one day. they’re such a good band and this song is perfection
Fabulous an fantastic at the same time. A timeless song.
I thought Rob Halford was guest appearing for a second.
Man, they sound fantastic here.
Holy crap! What a performance!
I was there ! It felt like we had those tickets for forever I’m glad we finally got to go and see them
I wanted to go, but forgot the day due to work. Quick question do you play music?
I was there. Absolute epic I MEAN EPIC performance!!!!!!! If you were not there, you totally missed out!!!! The opening scene is burned into my memory
That’s a beautiful experience. Treasure it. 😊
I love Peter Murphy!! Omg! Thank you for this!! 80's is calling me back!!
Peter Murphy just gets more amazing the older he gets. It wouldn't surprise me if he were to die of old age, then come back undead himself, perform, and show he's still got his voice, his talent, and his stage presence.
Same thoughts
Makes me wanna play this song live again. Covered in once at a college band reunion in 2010.
Sounds absolutely incredible..perfect 🖤
Awesome to see them still doing their stuff after all these years!
40 years of playing the same three descending notes, got to give them credit for not getting bored.
Whoa! Speechless! ❤️🎶
Just fucking beautiful... I attended the show in Portland a few days later, and just as great.
Thanks for posting this. Had VIP tickets for 2020 a lifetime ago and a world away from where I am now. Glad I got to see it thanks to you.
Sorry you had to miss the show! I’ll try to upload more soon
@@drjay9999 you are the best. It's making me happy and sad at the same time... My mom had a stroke in between here and there and I'm caretaking now and can't risk getting sick so I really appreciate it!
@@unicornsandrainbowsandchic2336 So sorry to hear about your mom….I’m at the age where I’m taking care of my folks too. Fortunately for me, the show was in my hometown.
@@drjay9999 lucky!! I'm down in South OC so it would've been a trek! All my best to you and your folks!
damn it i wanted to go so bad. my?bucket list band . im 54 and still love their music. found them in junior high , die hard fan dvd, albums CD and t shirts too just fits me perfectly.nothing like them. true goth til i die.
Love his voice. I just melt. Doesn’t matter how old . His voice puts me in a trance
remember seeing them when i was in my teens in the late 80's, still giving me chills, what an amazing performance, absolute legends.
You did not see them in the late 80s though. They were not a band st all between 83 and 98.
at all*
@@loydcoy914 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bauhaus_(band)
Yes. Their wiki clearly shows and details how they were not in any form of existence in the late eighties.
Peter sounds amazing 🤩
They sound so well because its all the original members from the original recordings.
That base sends the shivers
Incredible crowd wow !!!
man....this guy is so dam good!!
Legendary!
Bravo! It’s good to see the boys are back!
When he says “The Count!” and then strikes that bat like pose with that face that’s like peak performance. He is into it and it’s great.
Wow!! Peter sounds amazing!! I love the new look!! Thanks for sharing!!! 🖤😻🖤🦇🖤
This is the best song I've ever beard!
Dub reggae version of Gary Glitter RnR Pt2.
These guys were together 6 WEEKS. Went into the studio in Jan 1979.
This is what came out.
Peter Murphy = haunting eyes
Omg I’m the “awoooo” at 0:49 💀 sorry y’all I couldn’t help it
Its "All Good",babygirl...it's Bauhaus for music sake. 🎶💚💥
Por más tiempo que pase, esta canción nunca dejará de ser tan icónica.
Dla mnie Wybitne !!!
Much better then I was expecting! Thanks for posting.
this is awesome ,this is epic, this is Bauhaus, thanks for posting this.
Memories xo
I can almost hear Murphy explaining to his doctor; well, Doc, I disappear from the stage toward the end of "In The Flat Field," to prepare for the intro to "Bela…", you know I have to hang inverted for about 11 minutes.
Doc: wait! What?! Why?
Murphy: "Dude, vampire's gotta vamp."
Doc: "sure, but what is that doing to your brain with your heart pumping all that blood uphill to your feet and all?"
Murphy: "You're talking as if I'm 190 years old, Doc, I'm still a young man, just turned 127 in October."
Doc just stares at Murphy as he rises from the exam table, buttoning his vest. "Okay then…"
double treat, bought Bauhaus' record, used, 3 decades ago at Poo Bah Records when I lived in Pasadena. Left all my records behind when I moved to Florida . This was awesome!
he may not move the same but that voice is better than ever !
It's his Pop-hip.
Awesome! Thanks for posting!
What a good song, live. Thanks, Bauhause.
the way i would do anything to see this live omg. they sound awesome
Bauhaus in my old home town would have been a great time! Too bad i was broke!
Saw them at Hull city Hall in 1981 they were fantastic.
Peter Murphy is a Goth God! So good!
One night in 1981, I pulled up outside my aunt and uncle's house in Belfast in my battered old car, which was costing every penny of my student grant to run. John Peel's show was on the radio, and as I prepared to switch off the ignition, he put on "Nerves" from "In the Flat Field". I didn't move until the last note of that song faded away. Transfixed. Some band.
This is what civilization is FOR.
The Hungar... best film intro ever.
Delighted to see the boys can still still do it. Been a long time, but this sets the clocks rewinding back for me!
Thank you for sharing this, saw (Peter Murphy) and crew in Winter 2019 before the lock downs in San Francisco
Gothic to the MAX, Peter went through a metamorphosis on stage.
Reminds me of seeing Andy and Mission at Fender's (LB) back in '84
I wanted tickets to this festical so badly 😢 😫 the most amazing line up I've ever seen and I slept on it.
Thanks for your video 🙏🎵🎼🎶❤️
Happy 65th Birthday Peter Murphy
Last time i saw them was in the 90s when they first got back together..i saw 2 of the 3 very first shows ever..IN L.A. SOOOO awesome..
These guys *REALLY* caught the mood perfectly! Sounds just as good as the beginning of the Tony Scott and David Bowie's film 'THE HUNGER' (1983) 👍
Superb art house film..
Timelessness
Thanks for posting this!!!
Sounds so good. Damn
Icons forever! ♥
They're so good live. The first time I saw them live I was totally surprised. I had figured a lot of their sound was studio tricks, but I was wrong. A great show to see if you have the chance.
