You only have to stay under the voltage limit. In fact, it's a good idea to exceed the maximum watts by 25-50% by "over-paneling" if you have that luxury, so you are not only more likely to actually reach the maximum charging power of the generator, but also stay at that max power longer, and to account for cloudy days, etc. Volts are pushed and will absolutely ruin the charge controller, but amps are pulled (based on the volts) and the charge controller won't pull more amps than it can consume (unless you exceed the input voltage). It's like plugging a 100 watt lamp into a 15 or 20 amp standard wall outlet - either way it only draws 1.2 amps (120 volts / 100 watts) - but if you could somehow plug it into a 240 volt outlet, then it would blow out instantly as it would draw 2.4 amps (240 volts / 100 watts). One other thing to consider is solar panels can produce higher than rated voltage on cold days, so take that into account and lookup temperature coefficients for your panels if you're in a cooler climate and your VOC sum is close to or right at the max voltage limit. Bottom line is if you go to the Ecoflow facebook group, the EcoFlow tech frequently mentions that amps can be disregarded as long as the total volts stay under the units limit.
Does this mean I could use a solar panel with a short-circuit current of 13.85A on the EF Delta Max even the the solar input is stated as 13A? I want to wire two of these solar panels in series and connect them to the Delta Max: Maximum Power (max) 405W ‡ 3% Open Circuit Voltage (Voc) 37.15V ‡ 4% Short Circuit Current (Isc) 13.85A ‡ 5%
