- VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) -- Officers with the Victorville California Highway Patrol conducted a traffic enforcement operation along US Highway 395 and the I-15 freeway on Friday.
CHP Officer Michael Mumford told Victor Valley News the goal of the traffic safety enforcement detail is to reduce traffic collisions and save lives.
On January 18, 2019, CHP Officers utilized a fixed-wing airplane, additional enforcement units from surrounding areas and officers on motorcycles during the traffic enforcement.
"Today’s enforcement detailed over 60 enforcement contacts by our motor officers and our officers and patrol vehicles," stated Mumford. "Officers are still actively patrolling so the numbers will go up."

@@acme4fun547 Double yellow lines means no passing. It doesn't prohibit making left turns or u-turns according to CVC 21460. Also, I'm pretty sure emergency vehicles are excepted from certain traffic laws when they are running code so long as they drive with due regard for public safety.
@@acme4fun547 isn't speeding gonna cause a higher chance of accidents? over 38,000+ people die every year in the united states due to the car accident, and the chp is the biggest/largest state patrol not only in the united states but in the world. with over 10,000 employees, i highly doubt they'd have low-funding and more funding means more training. :exploding_head:

@@Greg3555 Those are not new SUVs. Look at the front ends? Those are early '13-'15 Explorers & Ford did a body refresh in '16. Also, the CHP stopped ordering the Explorers 3yrs ago. Their fleet is mainly now Chargers and Tahoes.

This part of 395 in Victorville is know as "Blood Alley". It earned it's reputation.
That u turn was violent as hell
its very heavy traffic on that road and his window of opportunity to u turn safely is only a few seconds, dicking around like miss daisy would put him at risk of a collision
he was going way faster than other people would dare to U-turn because he has done it so many times and is very aware of his vehicles capabilities, als the shear size of his balls helped.
turning around on a narrow road like this also means u gotta turn and lock the wheel as fast as u can or u will have to back up.. on the highway.. so keep that in mind

I despise that section of 395 and go out of my way to avoid it. I can't think of a more dangerous stretch of highway. It's great to see the CHP doing what they can to keep drivers safe.

Vehicle code is vastly under-enforced in California. Policing is expensive. I wonder how much more it would cost me to have a safe drive (rhetorical). I have had numerous friends and acquaintances killed in head-ons on 395. On almost every drive I see illegal passing. I pass. I make sure I can see and it's well clear, and it's not a declared no-passing zone.
I did not know those CHP cars are equipped with a speed radar for cars going the opposite direction while the chp intercepter is in motion. All this time I thought they use only the speed gun to see how fast you're going. I learned something new in this short video

There was a good lunch place around the corner from work that was also a CHP lunch hangout. There was always a few CHP bikes parked out front at noon. I’d say goodbye as I left, and their friendly response was always the same, “Catch you later”. 😆

I'm a truck driver and I go all over. Seems like 95% of traffic is speeding. If I do the speed limit, people are always spamming on their breaks and traffic starts backing up, a lot of people almost clip the back of my truck or car.

Similar but I speed a lot on Hwy 18 towards Lucerne Valley and I passed CHP like this before and they never pulled me over lol
towards Lucerne is less busy tho, also lower deadly reputation. Not all speeders speed to a certain amount, and not all officers are 24/7 using radar.

Shame that those Chargers only have a 6 cylinder engine in them instead of the V-8's. I thought California was a wealthy state. Even Oklahoma, which has financial problems, had the V-8's their their highway patrol Chargers.

would be cool if CHP had Tesla Model Y for their patrol vehicles. They would close that distance fast with Tesla's quick acceleration. And Tesla Model Y has top crash test safety ratings, it won't roll over. While the dodge charger lacks in many areas in crash safety ratings
8/10 give violators warnings has better outcome than citations. Violators likely will do it again when they are cited.
A sure fire way to avoid a citation is to tell the officer you pay his or her salary and they should be out catching “real criminals”.
I’ve never tried this myself, but I heard it works. I hope others will give it a shot and report back here what happened.
This traffic stop had nothing to do with safety and was all about financial extortion. The blue car was going at 85 by himself on an empty stretch of highway, there were no hazards involved, yet this cop decided to fleece him. It's obvious they just wanted the ticket count and burglarize the driver. It doesn't matter to them if warnings work better, their goal is the money $$$.

If you were ever to do a ride along, you’d see they do. If the flow of traffic is 5 mph above the speed limit (or under 10), often times they’ll not pull people over. They’re looking for reckless drivers and reckless speeders. They’ll work their way through a pack of cars going slightly fast and pounce on the people out in front of the pack or trying to get through the pack.
They’ll also be more lenient if you spot them soon enough and slow down. It means you’re being an attentive driver and not mindlessly exceeding the speed limit. At least I was told this was the justification.

Its edited for time obviously the officer would radio in his 20 and vehicles plate info then after contact he would hopefully id driver then have to run for wants before he even started to write the traffic ticket

This shit should have been done along time ago. Alot of lives were taken in this highway. Stop speeders, lower down the speed limit and put more streets lights is whats needed. My dad got killed on this highway and these drivers need to get stopped for endangering others lives.
