Yes that's true. Mine has 400.000 KM and still runs 99% of the factory original parts from 1996 . Only change the glowplugs a couple of times and bypassed the Diesel filter with another model without the manual

Aca en Argentina (yo no soy mecanico) este motor no lo quiere nadie. Dicen que es un cáncer cuando empieza con problemas y nunca quedam bien cuando los quieren reparar.

Yes this is very true. But, you have to replace the timing belt very often! This is the best engine for this car if you want a workhorse. The Zetecs are also very reliable (apart from the stupid PCV) but they do not last as long as the diesel, it's just how it is.
The timing belt was changed on our Escort 1.8 TDI and serviced quite often.

The Endura-DE fuel shut-off solenoid is a 3 pin device that is linked to the Ford PATS system by 3 black wires.
Does anyone have any service manuals for this ? Just got a 1997 escort with this engine in it and i am restoring it 😅
There will be Haynes manuals out there, but they tend not to be very detailed. There must be a workshop manual in the depths of the internet somewhere.
@@Biggles the closest thing i found was some Spanish workshop manual for a ford sierra i think that had this engine in it, that's the best i could find free, of course there's is also the Haynes manuals for sale 🤑, or i could base everything on what i learned in university haha😂 not optimal though 😅 contrary to my honda civic from 1997 i found multiple manuals for free wish all cars got equal amount of attention heh😅😂

For real?? Endura Diesel??? it was noisy with the poor valve job, imagine with diesel OLOLOL
che motore di merda! appena le temperature si abbassavano non partiva piu' essendo un pre camera concepito negli anni '80. Inoltre era accoppiato ad un alternatore di merda par suo che faceva una fatica boia a metterlo in moto!
Sarà anche un motore che fa fatica ad accendersi alla mattina col freddo ma dura una vita e ne ho la prova avendo la mondeo da 20 anni
L’endura posso essere d’accordo ma il duratorq è molto migliorato rispetto a questo. Eppure hanno la stessa base di partenza con la differenza che al duratorq è stato aggiunto il commonrail
