@@gailfriend8164 from the experience that I've had when propping, depending on humidity levels of course, for ex I live in the US in Arizona and our weather is beyond dry. We have less than 15% humidity most of the year so it's challenging to keep props with enough moisture rather than having too much. The way you can tell is, since u have had some rot, u know it's too much moisture. So usually when they are little still, a couple spritzes in the morning every day is enough and as they get bigger you may need to do deeper watering. But to start, spritz then, don't water. That's true for most of the US besides Arizona or Nevada really. The goal is not to keep them wet but rather with the minimum amount of moisture without letting the new roots get too dry and dry off. Feel the soil and if there's dampness on ur finger tips, don't water. And don't water before you see a few roots! That's the biggest thing. Cuz then they will just rot on the soil without being able to root. I don't have as much experience as this amazing guy does but I hope it helps!! Good luck!
Yes!!! I've found so many that only say, lay on the soil, and done. No explanation about roots or babies, or what's a good one and what are the bad ones

I have a few different kinds going and it made me so happy to see the little roots and/or lil tiny babies coming out. Makes me feel successful and like I might have a chance at being a plant mama 😭😭
@Jamey Craig the main thing that kills succulants is too much water. Peopel who kill succs tend to water them like normal plants and that kills them. Just give them a little drink about once a month or 3 wks. They also put them in soil that's too heavy, Get soft cactus soil. The more you ignore succs the better they grow, And they ike a window sunlight. . They are easy to grow if you don't treat them like you would a geranium and drown it. Keep that in mind. :-) And they are also very easy to propagare. Whack off a leaf like he did and lay it ont he soil and aguain."ignore it" for wks. When you come back it'll have roots and maybe even a baby. Been there done that.
I know your comment was 2 yrs ago but I'm not good at keeping plants alive and I'm trying my hand at succulents. If you have any advice I'd love to hear it. I bought some from Lowe's and they're mushed in tight so fingers crossed I don't kill them while separating them 🙃
I've been collecting and propagating succulents for 2-3 months and this is the BEST instructional video for succulent propagation I've seen. I'll be watching more of your videos. Beautiful!
Thank you for this video! I'm propagating succulents for the first time through leaf cuttings. It has FINALLY started growing babies and I was confused on what the next steps were to have a successful propagation. Your video is the first video I've seen so far that details what to do after the babies sprout!
Hands down, the BEST propagation video on UA-cam! I've been doing it for a while now, and you confirmed some lingering questions I had! I love how thorough you were and how you explained details that most propagation videos skip. I also like how you explained different options with roots, stems, & leaf cuttings. Plus, your personality is fabulous! 👌😁 I'm so happy I found your video, and now your channel. Thank you!!!
I'm so glad I found you through my recommended. I've never had much luck with propagation and you're the first video I found that really detailed different methods and stages of propagation. You've got yourself a new subscriber haha. Thank you very much for sharing these information! Have a nice day!
@Gemma Saint Hey, you can look through succulentsandsunshine.com, they are likely to have the name of your plant, if not, try mountaincrest, though it is a succulent shop site, everything is well labeled/categorized and I've found many of my unnamed plants through there.

I just want to applaud you for your detailed explanations. I myself took a stem cutting of a succulent outside and brought it home. It is doing fabulous. However I did not know about plucking the leaves. I am so excited to try this.
I agree with Caitlyn, your video answered any question us newbies may have. Thank you so much for sharing, both your love of and knowledge of growing succulents. Although I have had succulents for years, it wasn't until 'COVID-19' had us in lockdown, the first time, that I came across groups dedicated to growing these beautiful plants, with amazing colours.

Hi Thang, thank you SO much for this awesome and informative video! After watching three times, I do have a remaining question - when I remove the baby from the leaf cutting, do I need to wait until it heals like with the rosette beheading, or can I put straight in to the soil? You show all the little rooted babies in the pot, but did not specify whether you put them straight there or let them sit first. I accidentally removed it, it also had a very long stem. TBH I found the leaf with roots and a pup amongst the moss in the pot of my HUGE Ghost succulent. It has two babies already and this video inspired me to stem cut one off and take leaves off all my succulents to propagate. Thanks again!!
Thank you very much. I've learned do much info. I've just started planting. Just bought mini cactus seeds...I started by propagating cactus firesticks from cuttings and they're really doing good.
