    The Imagic games were so colorful with more screens than other games at the time. And the outro of your video is legendary!

    My friend and I experienced the same frustration in “Swords and Serpents” in reaching the final dragon…..and not being able to beat it. I don’t think either of us ever knew it was actually unbeatable though! I love “Microsurgeon” for all the same reasons you state in your review. “Truckin’ was cool fun (especially in 2-player when you’d meet in passing on the road). I loved the atmosphere of “Dracula” but found it impossible to get very far in that one (or most of the games for that matter).

    Imagic developed great games for the Intellivision and that sweet box art was the icing on the cake.

      I liked the Imagic boxes, as well! I get a kick out of people who still let everything fall on the floor when they pull them off the shelf! 🤣👍🏻

    Awesome video! I have all of those, but not in the box. Keep up the awesome work!

    Good video! Nice ranking of the Imagic games for the Intellvison system! I always liked Truckin' it's fun to play but like you say it is a deep game! It helps to have the map with the game, it does help! I always liked the box art for the Imagic games too!

      I’ve been telling myself for a long time that I was going to learn to play Truckin’ much better! 👍🏻

    Fair reviews, thanks. White Water is my favourite of those with Ice Trek in second. So what does 'S' stand for in the rating system?
    I'm working on a homebrew game for the Intellivision system but need some advice. You seem to have plenty of contacts, so I was wondering if I could email you personally to explain where I am with it? Regards, JM.

    Imagic created many of the best game titles for the TI-99/4A.
    Dracula was announced (never released) but I was surprised to see how many released titles we have in common.
    The Intellivision version of Demon Attack looks like a hybrid between the TI version and the 2600 version. (The Ti version is absolutely stunning, arguably the best use of TI's sprite capabilities (which rivalled the Atari 800 and C64) but after a few levels, the demon boss level simply becomes impossible, breaking the game.
    Microsurgeon was always one of my favourite Imagic games, and it's nice to see that it looks so good on the Intellivision...(The TI speech synthesizer is heavily used here, with atmospheric hospital sounds including "paging Doctor Levine" 🙃
    Fathom is rewarding once you get concept, but as you gain proficiency it becomes VERY repetitive.
    The castle level of of Ice Trek looks very similar to the exterior castle level of TI's Slymoid. Wonder which came first.
    Excellent developer review. Thank you so much. I never played intellivision much, (I chose (yes actually made the comscious decision) to go Odyssey2 before buying a computer) but your video shows how very capable it was.
    If I am jealous of any of the titles listed, it is definitely Atlantis. Would have loved to have seen a TI port...it is the kind of game the system was ideally suited for. The closest we got was a Moonbeam Software title called "Zero Zone" (which really isn't close at all)

      Imagic was a great company! I wish that I had more experience with the TI-99, but I don’t have any! I’d love to try some of their games, and Microsurgeon would be a MUST play! Love that game! Thanks for watching and for your great comment! Cheers, PeBoVision! 🍻👍🏻

      @@PapaPete The TI is a far better machine removed from the corporate politics of TI & Commodore of the 80's. It's a gerry-rigged machine (the 16bit CPU is hobbled by being paired with 8bit architechture (the planned 8bit CPU failed, and TI needed a quick replacement to get to market), but the sprite capabilities can make games visually impressive (as I mentioned Demon Attack really has to be seen to be believed!)
      The Colecovision & MSX line of computers both share the 4A's graphics processor.
      Educational software is where it really shines though, and repeatedly proves I am NOT smarter than a 5th grader. These titles range from arcade-action (from educator Scott/Foresman) to the award winning Plato series, that take kids right through high school (with a decidedly 70's take on Civics and Social Studies). It even includes a few titles (3) from Disney with, as you can imagine, the outstanding graphics and sound one might expect from the mouse house.

    Shame about that dragon in Swords & Serpents. Looks like it would have been one of the better games on the system.

      It was pretty good, Claude! We had a lot of fun playing it regardless of the ending, but Geez! That’s just a killer! Thanks for watching! 👍🏻

    Been looking for this review, but that Dragonsfire and Tropical Trouble rating hurt my soul Lol. In my view, Swords and Serpents should be the lowest game for simply being unfinished.

    • @PapaPete
      @PapaPete  Рік тому

      I expected some discussion on Dragonfire, Master Chief. I think that most people like the game much more than I do. 🤷🏻‍♂️👍🏻

    Don't think I could argue with any of those ratings, although to be fair I haven't had the pleasure of thoroughly playing all these games, but I trust your analysis. 😄👍🎮

    • @PapaPete
      @PapaPete  Рік тому

      Thanks, Savitor! The only one that I seriously wavered in was Fathom. I probably should have given it an “F”, but I just don’t feel that I’ve put enough effort into playing it. 🤷🏻‍♂️👍🏻

    I would rank Dracula higher especially if you're playing a 2 player game with the zombies.but other than that, I think it's a good list 👍
