This brings back fond memories. I was stationed with the US Air Force in Japan 1969-1972. In the spring of 1970 I took the Shinkansen From Tokyo to Kyoto to attend the Cherry Blossom Festival. Although this was 50 years ago, I recall the train being similar to the one in this video.
I usually buy a JrPass when I visit Japan because a lot cheaper and I learned how to take a subways 🚊 as well. I have been to Japan 3 times and I still wanna go back. I can’t wait for Japan to open a border for tourists.
I've been there 3 times as well! I don't like the JR Pass though, it's quite inconvenient because it's restricted to JR lines only. We often find ourselves closer to stations belonging to other operators, with the dilemma of walking greater distances and save money OR walk shorter distances and save time. Time is precious when in Japan I think, so we always go with the most convenient option for transportation. I can't wait to go back there either!
@@Thomas-lk5cu well, it kinda really2 helps, since most cities have JR line. Thank you for this very helpful ( and reassuring) video, on behalf of all English-speaking overseas people, who hope to visit Japan in the near future.
Since 1989 I have visited Japan on a regular basis. My last trip started exactly today last year on a flight from Munich, Germany, to Osaka, continuing by Nozomi-train to Nagoya. From Nagoya I used my pre-purchased Japan Railpass to visit various places in Japan, as far as Niigata, on day-trips. Except Sapporo, where I took the very first flight from Nagoya and returned on the last flight in the evening. It was an amazing journey! I enjoyed it very much, especially all the various, delicious food, from very good Okonomiyaki in Nagoya to fresh Sushi in Niigata! Unfortunately Japan is still closed for tourists from the EU, so I am not able to visit your country this year 😔 Your videos satisfy my wanderlust to visit Japan, as long as I am not able to visit again! Thank you very much! どうもありがとう!

I moved to America in 2016, the year right before they build Shinkansen from Sapporo to Tokyo. The first train direct from Hokkaido to Tokyo! I lived Asahikawa for 17 years and wanted easy way to go to Tokyo! xD I want to try it so bad!
I had the opportunity to visit Japan 8 times and take the Shinkansen 4 times. I like so much, because of comfort, so cleans and very fast. I used Shinkansen for travel to Sendai, Hiroshima, Osaka, Kyoto, Himeji, and Aomori. I love Japan. I ❤️ 🇯🇵
