Thsnks for the tip never thought of that!!
Anytime buddy!
I’m 72 and my grandpa taught me how to drag the anchor in the late 50s on Winnebago. He would blow up a balloon and put a hook through the top fin of the first perch he’d catch with about 12’ of line to the balloon. He’d let that fish go and he could follow the school when it moved.
That is absolutely insane!!! What a good idea. Gotta try it
This is considered animal cruelty and would be banned in many countries. Respect the fish.
@@somerandomperson8282 ok Karen
Can you name the countries this i banned in? @@somerandomperson8282
@@somerandomperson8282thats like saying leaving your dog or cat outside almost all the time its not cruel they were outside before we started keeping them as pets
Perch angling science! Thanks for sharing..🤝
Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching!!

I wish you mentioned your setup with the beads on the hook. I mainly fish Petenwell in Wisconsin and i've just started to run into perch here and there. I'd love to be able to target them while i'm up there so any extra information is appreciated. Great video.
usually 1 to 3 beads, green and orange and red Aberdeen hook
@@LarrySmithOutdoors Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it! I'll be up at Petenwell the week of labor day, I think i'll give it a shot!
Try this Larry use a mushroom anchor and with a little wave action tied with proper amount of rope it mud up the area and draw the perch to you.
river anchor used this for the last five year on lake Erie, Michigan waters.
Lol love the ending haaaaaa
Thank you for watching!!
Larry, thanks for the info. I had to research in past after I noticed perch would start to follow my fish cam when I drug it on bottom. Then learned in fact I was on to something. Problem with perch fishery anywhere is what you said. You think you’d like to see limit go down but it doesn’t - and yet- you still continue to keep the actual limit in your boat. Thinking something vs actually doing it is the seed of most social problems. Just something to consider..
Thanks for watching!
What is rig? a worm on jighead? artificial plastic worm with 2 inch? thanks
Thanks for not hammerin' on them perch too much Larry :)
Gotta leave em for the next generation!
Larry Smith Outdoors ha yeah this ain't the 1950's anymore with pickups full.
@@steveon12 😂 with "pickups full" 😂
Awesome line of B.S. at the end! Ya'all gotchew a nice mess for super!
Larry I click first on this right away cuz I can't wait to watch your videos. My question is is there a side mount rail system for mounting a guillotine? Also who is your other friend in the boat? When are you going to fish with the Manitowoc minute guy he's hilarious?
Yes you can mount the back arm in a rod holder, check out this video

Thanks a lot Larry I do remember that video thanks for jogging memory.
Great show guys, two questions do you actually eat Drum? And what's up with the augers?
Some people do! What augers?
@@LarrySmithOutdoors I thought the same thing. It looked like you have the head of a Jiffy Ice auger behind you at the beginning of the video.
Lol I saw the same thing?
why do u have a ice drill in the back of your boat??
The old boy can’t see but he sure as hell can fish!
No doubt about that!
Any tips for shore fisherman looking for perch on Winnebago? Cool video! Thanks
Yummy 😋
I know right!
Wait so what’s the setup? I’m having a hard time understanding it
phil when you come to Arizona you dont need larry. We can start our own show phil and big Johnson show . My name is Daniel Johnson with your knoeledge and funny and my stability we can make it . you dont need to be larry smith flunky. You are the star of the show.
Is that a Sheepshead that you caught at the end? Absolutely delicious? I don't know about that.
trapin 68 it looks like a freshwater Drum
Your inker?
I apologize if I missed it but, what bait were you using?
Using small jig heads and half night crawlers!
@@LarrySmithOutdoors Thank you! I've never been perch fishing but, I'm have a trip next week and another at the end of the month. I look forward to trying this method out as well.
@@brandonnapier2117 Let us know how it goes
What kind of fish was that last one that almost took the rod?
Freshwater Drum
@@leovoldoftrest9987 some kind of crappy fish???
@@annlilley6152 lol they have a terrible reputation as trash fish but are native to the water and are a natural part of the ecosystem. People typically hate catching them though. Their diets are normal (small fish, bugs, crawfish etc) and are edible but fatty near the skin. Most throw them back in the water. I also hear them called Sheepshead.
Sheepshead. I personally love catching em but they do have a bad reputation
I wish Phil could see the quality those fish poor Phil :(
Love the accent
LOL thanks? 😅
canada has perch year round i learbed norhing here. im in ohio n
those perch are about average in the Netherlands here you can catch 4+ pound perch, still nice video
henk potvis these are a different kind of perch. Europe is Redfin perch, North America is yellow perch
Would love to try fishing in the Netherlands!
That's a different species lol
Auger is the anchor
What auger?
Just have to be "where they are" no secret tip or tricks needed !
lmao, drag your anchor at your own peril
Thanks for the insight Michael
..,Yeah very cool🤘🏻nice fishing video🎣 Check out my stuff👀 Greetings from Germany🇩🇪✌🏻️
Do you call those " jumbo perch"!???
What do you call jumbo perch Sabri?
I want to me phil
If you cant catch a red perch you shouldn't be fishing lol
you talk too much dude
Thanks for watching!
Do u always keep them in live well if over 80 degree weather?
They were the perch legends??? More like the folks that destroyed perch by keeping 50 a day. So far it’s taken them like 70 years+ to recover
Pretty lame video and small jumbos. Don't lower the limit, I need perch in the freezer.
Nothing like small jumbos!
you're terrible, and probably a boomer.
