Hey guys thanks for watching just to be clear this is a watch I waited for online at a Swatch store and paid retail for. Also here is a recent link to a conversation I started on WatchCrunch! Check out the link below to get involved in the conversation!!

Thanks for the review mate. Just for future Omega videos it's "hesalite" not "hexalite" like espresso not expresso. Sorry to be a grammar Nazi.
Which cape cod cloth did you use for the moonswatch crystal?? Maybe you could make a video of how you got the scratches out. Thanks!
As far as I know, on other chrono swatches alignment is easily corrected by pulling out the crown and pressing the chrono buttons...

@@mrsrhardy no it is not
Thanks for an honest review. I think the biggest problem is actually the lack of quality that you are getting for the price. ANY Seiko Chronograph purchased for this amount of money will run circles around this watch. And the Seiko will last decades. I look foreward to more content!
I picked up the Mission to Mercury on Friday when I was swung by my local Swatch boutique for another Swatch and a battery change on another (they swap them for free). I really like it, even more so than I expected. The bad thing is it now makes me want a real Speedmaster. I have tried one on at a boutique before and wasn't blown away, but wearing this for a longer length of time has me really liking it. If I end up buying a real Speedy, this will be a win for Swatch AND Omega marketing. I was mostly considering Tudor and Grand Seiko, but may have to include the Speedy on the list. Aside from that, it's definitely just a fun watch, just like my couple of other Swatches. Nobody should take this to seriously.
I actually disagree on the strap comfort, and find I don't even notice the strap. I do think you're probably right on how well it will hold up long term. I already slightly scuffed my crystal (oops), but it's good to know I can grab a Cape Cod cloth to get it out. I know it's possible to polish Swatch crystals, because I had one in the '80s that got horribly scraped up from a bicycle accident. A place in the mall was able to buff it out and make it very legible. It wasn't exactly as good as new, but very close. That was impressive considering the watch couldn't even be ready prior to their work on it. My chrono hand isn't macro level lined up, but it's pretty close. It always falls within the marker, but just every so slightly on the left. It's only something I can notice if I look closely at it though. I wonder if you can adjust the alignment. I have a quartz chrono (not Swatch) that has an easy way to align it, which I found out after finding it out of alignment and contacting the manufacturer. The plastic is definitely different than on my other Swatches. It sounds (when tapped) and feels a bit harder/higher quality. Don't go thinking it remotely feels like ceramic though.
Lastly, I've heard some describe this as "disposable" and something that will be thrown in the trash in a couple years. I very much disagree with that. It's a quartz watch, not a smart watch with a battery that will go bad or be too slow to support the latest software. How many quartz watches do you know that fail within a couple years? I don't know of many. Sure, it's not designed to be serviced, but I've only had 1 or 2 quartz watches (1 early Victorinox, 1 Fossil) that ever needed service in 30 years of wearing watches. As a bit of anecdotal evidence, the Swatch I got the battery changed on is from the 2nd half of the 1980s.
They are completely sealed. They cannot and will not change the battery. They are disposable.
@@patrickriarchy6054 No they aren't. It's an easily removable battery cover. There are videos on replacing the batteries on UA-cam.
@@patrickriarchy6054 actually I disagree..like many Swatches you can change the battery..the battery placement is behind the planet on back of the watch..this is not a disposable watch..all Swatches can have their batteries changed out..
Mercury is the top neurotoxin for humans. You cannot handle this watch, physically or emotionally.
@@patrickriarchy6054 Sooo Swatch Group decided to release a battery-powered watch that can't have its battery changed? Good thinking
Chris, and anybody out there, before using the watch i highly recommend buying Healing shield protector film...curved fit 30mm , fits perfectly, no more worries about scratching the plastic crystal. And i also add...change the strap, i put mine on a NATO , the difference in fit and comfort is noticeable.
could you link the protector for the watch please 😃
I disagree that this is an entry timepiece to get into watches. I feel for the price, you are better off getting something like the Islander watches, which give you so many quality specs for an affordable price. Or an Orient Kamasu is way better quality than this. Pretty sure both Islanders and the Kamasu are under $260 too.
Yeah great marketing & release but really look at what quartz chrono's you can get from the likes of Citizen ,seiko , Casio ,Orient in fact practically every name brand ,hell you can even pick up a quality mechanical @ $260. Baffles me why anyone would pay over the asking price for the MSW.. madness.
As a watch guy who doesnt have an omega, this is an affordable option.
@@ztevo... better save the money for something that's worth the price... 💸
Thank you for the balanced and detailed review, you really went into a lot of different aspects here! I was not crazy about the watch and after seeing your video I am even less inclined. The most I would pay for the watch, and I am only interested in the grey versions (moon and mercury) would be around 160€, comparing it to what I have spent on other watches in that range.
The chronograph can be realigned by pulling the crown out to 1st and using the upper and lower buttons to move the hands independently...
Since it came out in 2002 the Swatch Irony Dark Phoenix is almost daily on my wrist. The acrylic crystal has one very small mark. It's out of production since 2013 but you can find them in like new condition around 180 Euro.
Those watches are not serviceable! But mine didn't need any servicing in the past two decades anyways 😊
It looks good, it is accurate and it tells the time and since swatch owns Omega there are no copyright issues!
Thorough review!
I just bought The Sun MoonSwatch. Mine is super quiet, in fact, more quiet than many of my other swatches. Mine didn't have any scratches on the crystal thankfully. I do notice that the chrono is the slightest bit off but I don't use the chrono anyway so that doesn't bother me personally.
It is a toy...plastic, quartz, 30MWR. $260 is already overpriced.
It's the sort of watch Buzz Lightyear would wear.
$150
So true
I would pay $100 max…
$200 for omega brand and $60 for the watch
Pull the crown to position 1 (where a normal watch to adjust the date), then push and hold the start/stop button for the chronograph. See if any of the hands move, from there you can re adjust the hands alignment.
Fairly good review.
Bottom line, forget it says Omega on the strap, this is a $260 Swatch chronograph with funky colors and a misaligned chronograph seconds hand.
If it brings a smile on your face, bingo, it’s for you. Otherwise, keep the cash for the next service on your actual Moonwatch.
if i could afford the moonwatch i wouldn't be looking at this one lol
Well said, plastic Garbage 🗑
Don't forget to recycle !
Exactly right
The more I see about this watch, the less I want it. Thanks for the review.
For the first time ever, watching watch reviews SAVED me money.
Ditto
yes!
There’s no reason to buy a Swatch Moonswatch when you can get a better one for$20.
The more i see about it, the more i want to buy china replicas
Pre Scratched for your convenience. You should pay extra for features like this!
😀
I'm affraid my initial hype for this watch will not stand the test of time, just like the watch itself. I still want to have one, but 260$ seems overpriced for an expendable piece. Take your time with the next review Chris, would be nice to see this watch after few months. Hopefully the crystal won't thin down too much till that time 🤣

a bit more expensive,but imo
a lot of bang for the buck.

Pozdro kolego.
Still have 2 original swatches retail was 59$.. still runs 40 or so years later.
Well if completely crap daniel wellington sold for 300, there is no reason this should not be 260 lol.
Well as of 2023 it did, (stand the test of time), as Swatch and Omega sold huge quantities of both the Omega-Swatch, and also enhanced their sales of the Omega line. So from a marketing point of view it has been a resounding success for both Companies; but yes, agreed, a clumsy introduction.
The $260 is SRP, which Swatch can sell it at given the high level of interest and demand. Remember the Timex Marlin? That always sold at SRP (about $250 for the larger model, as I recall) when it was introduced a few years ago, now it can be readily found below $200. Just give it time, it should fall to about $175-200 when demand drops. Feel sorry for anyone who bought one off eBay, though.
Forgot to add, I want one, but I just gotta be patient.
they bring it down? from priginal store do they lower prices?
Thanks for the honest review. Not personally interested but I hope it introduces more folks to this cool hobby.
For around $120 more, you can get a Bulova Lunar Pilot…a far better watch.
I like the bulova but that watch is huge
I got the Lunar Pilot in 2019 for just Cdn$230 + 15% 'free health care', on sale on Amazon.

Can the misalignment not be fixed using the ol' trick where you pull out the crown and press the pushers?
I have done a 180 on this whole series. Initially I was annoyed that I could not get one of these - ANY of these - when they came out. Every review that I have seen since indicates quality issues aplenty. Material and assembly issues. Now I am interested in this series not one bit. Over-hyped? Yup. Over priced? Are we sure that this isn't really a Timex rebranding???. I think I'll look elsewhere for my next watch fix. Thanks for the very insightful review.
I've got several Timexes and they have pretty good build quality. All have metal cases and cost a whole lot less than a Moonswatch.
Based on Waterbury model ?
The swatch crhrono I have let's you adjust the alignment of the watch. I belive these have the same movement. Try pushing the buttons while the crown is up. Different dials adjust with in the different positions of the crown.
I've had my moonswatch for a month now and still enjoy it. Like you, I have a large collection so it isn't a daily wear. I think the best part of the moonswatches are the pastel color variants which is what makes them unique in my collection. The straps are miserable and were quickly replaced, but the Mission to Venus one is really worth noting as extra small. Didn't even fit properly on my wife's wrist and while our local swatch store says there are bigger straps available, they didn't have them on hand. No regrets though, I am super happy with this line.
I'm looking forward to buying this watch. Does the watch feel rather cheap with the bioceramic plastic? Because i've seen videos talking about the built quality of it is bad. Is your watch still working fine? Does your watch scratch easily? Let me know, thanks
I purchased the mission to mars edition and it's a decent good watch..I paid alot more than 260..its a Swatch and has the the Omega backing of history..I think it's a good watch..yes its plastic and can scratch easily keep that in mind..4 plus stars out of 5. I have several swatches and I have several Omega seamasters..this is not an Omega just has its name but it really isn't an Omega..
the misalignment is quite an easy fix, i think you pull out the crown and skip the seconds manually one by one until it's on the 12 mark, your one looks like it just one second ahead
Major flaw being the chronograph doesn't line up every time. Wow really. Neither does the sky dweller. But then I don't think many of the omega enthusiasts buying it really bought it as a tool.
This is an iconic brand with a great logo and history selling at an outrageous low price.
Worth every penny and an absolute strap monster.
You can adjust that by pulling out the crown to the first position and pressing the chrono buttons.
Omega enthusiasts don't buy these. Its a POS that costs $28 to make.
My wife's Victorinox has a quartz chrono that can have the second hand moved in its home position. I forgot which buttons need to be held, but the second hand was off at one point and I was able to fix it. I agree that it being misaligned out of the gate is disappointing. My Casioak has a function to align the hands if they get knocked out of alignment. It seems like a pretty easy thing to add.
I don't think it is worth the price. Recently I bought a $101 Merkur off of Aliexpress and I was blown away by the quality. The polishing, brushing are perfect. The dial and markers hold up under a 7x loupe and the hands are curved at the tips like a Moser. Even the movement (under a solid caseback) is better finished than my Tudor. All for $101.
This Swatch looks like it came out of a gumball machine and costs more than 2X. Come on.
I’m not a fan of cheap AliEx watches, but you have a very significant point. This watch is gumball machine lever quality. I’ve seen better quality come out of a Kinder Surprise egg.
Link maybe?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this Chris. Glad I didn't rush out to try to get one.
I found the misalignment on Tissot watches with the better ETA G10 movement too, on MotoGP and and a Chronomaster I had. Never had the issue on a Swatch Chronograph I had, so it seems to be a random thing. What seems to help when it is a bit to the right is to start the and stop the stopwatch in a 1 second interval and reset it.
The strap comfort depends on wrist size. I’m in the perfect sweet spot (where the fold is) and it’s by far the most comfortable watch I’ve worn. I really feel like this is a daily wear watch. (With a need to clean the crystal sometimes - but so does the actual moonwatch.)
Love the watches. They are attainable to all and collectable as well. I put a protective cover on my watches for future scuffs etc. It will take me a while to collect the ones I want Which is part of the fun! Watch snobs will secretly be buying these watches as well lol. No issues with the Chrono function with mine but you have two years to get sorted out with swatch and remember free batteries for life.
Brave beaters did a video showing how the actual packaging of the watch has been scratching the crystals. You have to make sure it is secure in that box or the flaps will rub against the Crystal and scratch it
I think it's a great gimmick/collectable it gets children involved in Horology. My children are both wanting one and are considering buying the entire collection and display case. They're in anyway we build watches with Ali Express parts, and collect Восток, yes Восток. Lol!
Thanks for the unbiased review. Think I will pass on this. It's not worth $260 , let along the crazy reseller prices.
@LILB1944 I totally agree👍
There are a lot of really nice mechanical movement watches to be had for the same money. An Orient Mako springs to mind instantly, or just about any Seiko 5. You could also pick up a Seiko Mechaquartz chrono for similar money, if you really need a multiple dial watch.
320 dollars (Canadian) for a plastic case, plastic crystal, and a quartz movement? Absolutely no way. I might pay 150 for something like that. I was really hyped up when I first looked into this but for what you're getting, the price is absurd in my opinion.
it looks and feels like a fisher price product lol
oof, even $150 is too much for one of these. Being all plastic, I'd say $75 at most
It's pretty silly.. It wont last, there's so many of them. It will be worthless before we know it. Buy a real watch.
Yeah, and the price is pumped up because of the omega brand. So people are buying brand, not the watch like quality watch. For me it has a good design, but still price is pumped up because it's limited.
It may well be an "absurd" price to you, but hundreds, maybe thousands, have been paying way over the list price just to get one - so the laws of supply & demand rule here and put the perceived value price to be at least double the actual list price.
Can you replace the plastic crystal with a crystal from omega speedmaster pro
Wonder how much for the replacement crystal .
Im enjoying my mercury. Put it on a 20mm tissot strap. Good face in all light conditions, keeping time well. Literally the only flaw I could say is the crystal does scratch a bjt easier then other watches I have. But this can be polished. All the hands align well on mine.
What kind of straps do you recommend? I own a mission on earth and I also think I may need to change the strap eventually.
Loved everything about that watchcrunch ad. Almost expected your phase in a looney tunes that's all folks circle based on that music
In addition to the misalignment of the movement, scratches out of the box and loud ticking, the crown on mine is pretty floppy when pushed in. Not sure if this is yet another QC issue?
Is it possible to change the crystal to something more scratch proof?
I bought the mission to Saturn and been wearing for 10 days so far. On mine it aligned perfectly
Will update if the stop watch alignment change in next 10 days
Great review, thank you! By the way at 9:00 you mention your work drive and a lot of silence in the car. No car radio? 🤣
No idea if they've changed anything, but I got a Mission to Mars last week and my chrono alignment is perfect.
Thank you for such an honest review, although the watch does look a bit plastic in places, for the price it is not too bad !
It's been my dream since I was a kid to have an omega moon watch. I really wish I had known about the release of this watch when it was somewhat reasonably priced.
I’m thankful this was not released online at launch, I would’ve bought 3 🙃😵💫 after some reviews and a month after the hype I no longer care about it and I don’t find paying $260 for a plastic quartz watch worth it. I understand you are paying for the experience of a Speedmaster and for the omega name and logo and you are getting a little piece of history. If I had the EXTRA money I would get it because I still think it’s a great idea.
You are spot on about the straps being rubbish, great honest review 👍
You should be able to pull the crown to time setting position and push the pusher in order to micro adjust the tachymeter hand.
As a watch enthusiast and a guy that wears and reviews much more expensive watches I'm unsure I know how to critique a Moonswatch. After watching this I went to a box of watches I keep but rarely open - its all the watches friends and family have given me over time knowing Im a watch guy. There's a couple of casios, timex's etc and basically they all have basically the same issues you've mentioned here. My point is what is the comparison for this watch - a timex waterbury or a speedy? Its probably 200% of the price of a timex, 80% of the build quality but is 500% cooler - does that get a pass? One thing Im pretty sure of - the moonswatch would get 1000% more wear than the timex's I've got.
It's fashion so yeah being 1000% cooler means it gets a pass.
@@NatashaEstrada to be clear this whole hobby is about fashion and being cool is always the aim, we are only ever arguing over what's cool.
Our Chinese friends make a "homage" version of the original in steel, looks real solid compared to the Swamega, with a thick glass crystal and a steel case.
@@PeteMcConvill There aren't that many watches I as a female want to wear even though I may appreciate the heritage and craftmanship behind many timepieces. Most of the time I'm just wearing a Cape Cod or a Tank but a pink Moonswatch is right up my alley for being fun but not too cheesy but also a little bit cheesy at the same time.
True that the moonswatch is much more cooler 😎
Thanks for your honest review.
I think this watch is something between a toy and trash. I also think the honest price without an omega logo around 80 Euro (90 USD?). Just for comparing. The swatch automatic watch Irony Body & Soul costs 195 Euro.
What about the acrylic crystal being laser-fused to the case and thus being non-replaceable, making this a disposable watch?
Just got my Swatch Moon Speedy. I have the Speedmaster reduced, so the plastic quality gave an awful first impression for weight and durability. I am on the fence with keeping it, I would wear it if I was sure it would work as a daily beater. It feels like it should be 160$, does feel like a toy. But, it looks good.
It’s a Swatch. With authorized Omega co-branding and Omega-like general appearance. It’s a functional quartz chronograph. Knowing just that, you know if it’s for you.
Thank you. Everyone seems to be mad that the Swatch watch is a Swatch. I don’t get it.
It’s not. 30m? Damn it will be broken in half a year
@@zgfvavw3037 How many metres do you need? It's not a diver. My Orient dress watch has the same WR and is still around, so...

W for Swatch for being able to produce such a hype and good LOOKING product.
L (maybe?) for Omega because it's still a Swatch with Swatch quality and Omega's name is on it.
It 100% could get someone's foot in the door for collecting and enjoying watches, which is great and the whole point of affordable and fun watches. But for someone a bit deeper in their journey or maybe expecting an Omega out of a Swatch, this watch sounds like it may be disappointing.
What is that you are using against the scratches ?
Is it possible to reset the chronograph?
Pull the winder and use start/reset buttons to reposition the hands?
Guess you've tried that and it still sucks....
What are thing things about the watch that makes it not a daily watch other than the straps and the crystal? Strap can be easily changed. Acrylic crystals are known to be scratched by daily use so it is expected.
It is still the best looking Swatch. It's cheap, it's fun, what else do you want.
I wonder if the original metal bracelet would fit - now THAT would be fun.
It is NOT cheap lmao. Cheap for a fake speedmaster sure, but its clearly a swatch quality for $100 more
@@larkiess Cheap was not meant by me as a synonym for low quality. More like low price in comparison to my other watches.
@@Fischi4711 you might as well just buy a Chinese dupe of the speedmaster which is probably made of better materials and costs the same

nice job swatch... the swatch speedmaster release, made me buy the real omega speedmaster professional 😂

Curious, how did you get one? Have any stores restocked yet since the "non-limted" release of a few hundred in the entire u.s for a company that makes millions of watches, the store I went to has not
It’s now selling for around US90 in China on a special promo. Now that’s a great price.
i got the mission to earth - its still new and never opened in the box but after watching this video i am that close to making a decision - returning the watch!
Nice review. This is just my opinion, but in addition to the issues you have pointed out, I'm asking myself: Why would I pay $260 for a chronograph watch that is apparently able to only measure elapsed time to the nearest second?
Who uses the chronograph function!? You can make a strong case for a rotating bezel if you like to cook. It's easy to use. But a chronograph seems needlessly complicated.
@@user-xg6zz8qs3q I, for one, use the chronograph function.
The box it comes in scratches it when opening shutting it
I’d really like the link to buy these retail online cuz they don’t sell them online do they?
In the end, it is just a Swatch watch. They don't really hold up in quality (my old Swatches are mostly misaligned and has many scratches lol). But as a novelty collectible, they are indeed. Great review.
There is a saying that if one does not have anything positive to say, one is better not saying anything at all. This watch being Case-In-Point!
MoonScam
For a lot less can be bought a stainless steel chronograph, inspired by the Speedmaster, with a cheap, but reliable caliber, and a big brend behind it... Seiko Classic SSB, Citizen AT Chrono...
Perhaps the watch can be made more durable by changing out the strap and by buying a clear glass/plastic cover to stop it scratching (like you can get for GShocks)
If the crystal is round, flat and recessed below the edge of the bezel one can easily add a gorilla glass type smart watch screen protector. I've did this to one of my watches and it actually improved the anti reflectiveness and is unnoticeable. You can buy unbranded protectors on ebay in 0.5mm increments for almost no money.
Could have told you this before buying & even though I’m aware of it, I still want one because of the connection with Omega and the style.
It’s well known I. The swatch trade that swatches do have many flaws and are not made like a Swiss watch, but an assembly factory.
Can u put in a link to buy the cloth that you used
A Swedish camera maker a similar marketing move with Sony . It simply rebranded some Sony cameras calling them Hasselblad Lunar and Hasselblad Stellar . Initially it had some marketing success, but a bit later the consequences of such a move became for Hasselblad to the point that it had to discontinue them , sell the last production runs at heavy discounts, and also the CEO had to apologize to the Hasselblad customers and later resign.
Me personally, I was about to purchase a Speedmaster, but changed my mind shortly after taking a look at this plastic Omega at a local Swatch Boutique. It felt extremely cheap , misaligned and already scratched with dirty strap just from people who touched it. The time with tell obviously how this experiment ends and I hope for Omega that it’s CEO wouldn’t find him or herself apologizing as a Hasselblad CEO back than.
The background music during the watch crunch pitch... I was sure it was coming from gran turismo 7 I've got running behind me!
From what I can tell the OmegaSwatch variants are one time releases. Limited edition goods which market the brand, generate buzz and sold out immediately and it's over with. Just a bit of fun to leave in the display case. Some people must have a lot of free time to be so invested in this- and to be complaining about something that is what it is at that price point- that you cannot walk into a store and buy- ridiculous.
is it true that the crystal cannot be replaced?
Thanks!
you should try Timex if you want a silent one 😃
Being able to hear a watch tick while driving down the highway is pretty insane. Either you have a very quiet car, or this is a very loud watch. Or perhaps both!
Swatches have always had a loud tick. I used to have to place mine in a drawer, or another room, when trying to sleep………..
My friend and I got some real speedmasters recently…chrono hands also are not perfectly in the middle - not like those, but it’s something 😅
There’s also a bunch of crud under the crystal, like a fiber on the sweep hand in one shot.
Yes
I could only imagine if Omega licensed the Speedmaster to Marathon. Could you imagine this design with the durability and price point of a MSAR or even one of their less expensive GP field watches. But I think that’s exactly the point, this “Swatch” is solely designed to generate buzz for the 7k big dog. You wouldn’t want a quartz version with comparable quality severely undercutting the flagship.
Why not get a seiko SSB031 100m chronograph and have a date function as well?
Thanks 🙏
the scratches on the crystal are caused by the closure of the box wich comes in contact with the watch when put inside. Mine came with tiny scratches even if it had the protective sticker, also if you pay attention many people had those scratches on the right and left side of the crystal, exactly where the box closes over the watch. This for me is a serious mistake for a 260$ watch..
I haven't been able to get one of these however, I remember buying a swatch watch when they first came out, and, yes the tick is really way too loud and annoying.
I would like to have one just to see how it is, we'll see how it goes.
These would make good presents for my kids... cool concept!
Cris,I will state this watch will be hard to get, keeping the price up, a money maker to make swatch income and the market is falling for all watches. It's a fun piece to see on the net. I will own one day not a priority.
I’m pretty sure on those quartz watches there’s a way to realign the chrono, I thinks it’s the swatches but not sure I don’t have quartz you should look into it, I know I saw a video about it
I'm surprised there is a misalignment issue. I've never had any problems with their non-Omega chronographs...why Swatch would drop the ball here is kind of inexcusable.
I like the watch. In the Czech Republic where I live, they sell for almost 500 USD. people go to germany austria buy them and then sell them for double the price. availability is in a December 2022. I will not buy the watch for that price and therefore I have to wait.
2 weeks of use.....does it still works?
Thanks for the video. Based on what you are reporting, I'm happy with my original thoughts on how the quality would be. I'm glad I decided to wait and not pay that much for one. I may still, at some point, pick one up but no hurry. I personally think this was a weird move for Omega to do, but what do I know... Have a great day. -David
Scratches on the crystal may be due to the construction of the box. Box lids, when they are closed, can scratch the crown.
