The "Ariel and her Sisters" line was apparently discontinued because parents said the stylized bodies created a harmful image to impressionable children. That's right, the waist of a mermaid doll who has a fish tail instead of legs was considered an unrealistic ideal. Anyhow, I think their tails had a wire in them like Betty Spaghetti so it was easy to pose. I remember DS also having a short-lived line for the Disney Heroes which actually looked really cool.
I actually just sold the Ariel from that set on eBay. They are very strange looking dolls in my opinion. The one cool thing though is that their waists are ball jointed so the tails are super poseable. But they are also incredibly small-waisted.
I wanted to write that with the mini skirt :D though I was younger, I still remember how blessed I felt when I got an eye shadow from her in a shop as a present. It was a very daaark purple cream, I am not sure if anybody ever had it on the eyelids. But I loved always the Sixties, so it was a huge present I got. I have two Daisies, by the way. Both were in bundles of dolls. Sometimes it is said they have a huge worth. Don't know if it is true.

I just bought a massive Polly Pocket collection from the thrift store. There were tons of dolls, clothes, and playsets. Whoever owned them, took very good care of them.
Mary Quant was a 60s fashion designer who helped push the Mod movement. :) I don't really remember any of these dolls since they were mostly came out when I was in HS. Wasn't terribly interested in dolls then haha.
There are so many discontinued dolls I wish I bought when they were available, so now I try to grab at least a few dolls of lines that appeal to me so I don't regret it later.
Hi! Shibajuku girls still make. I have a couple of dolls. They're like a cheaper version of the Pullip dolls. They also have beautiful outfits. Greetings from Kazakhstan. I love your videos
when those dolls came out i was 9 and i always wanted one but toysRus was always sold out and now im 11 and found one at ross and mom said nope im not buying it 😔
I never heard of them until I found a tiger pet at a thrift shop. The pets were surprisingly more articulated than an LPS. I liked the idea of soda bottle packaging but I think the dolls were way too generic and basic to stick around
The inclusion of Polly Pockets just set off a thought in my mind: anyone remember the Grand Polly Pocket Recall of 2007 (I think it was?)? 'Twas a sad time indeed for many.
I DO remember that, my friends mom had us round all of them up and put them in bags to be sent in to be tested for lead, I believe thats what the whole scare was about, that there was possibly lead paint on the toys. Also after researching it had to do with the magnets as well.
Those polly pockets were my childhood, I remember the little playsets with handles and took them everywhere. And yes, I constantly popped something in my mouth, Im pretty sure I swallowed a shoe or two...
Speaking of miniature dolls, Barbie used to have a line called Mini Kingdom, which consisted of mini versions of the barbie princess dolls like Anneliese, Erika, Rapunzel, Odette, and all the others. There was actually another line with the barbie princess called Tea Party Princess.

The Ariel and her sister line came out in 2007 not the 90s. It came out along with the new Disney Tinker Bell fairies line. Sadly, only the Tinker Bell Fairies line did well. The Ariel and her sisters line also include stylized mini plushes, and pvc figure sets of the sisters.
Did you have the "Dawn'n'me Pocketbook"? I was born in 69 but had older sister - that purse was my favorite, and I always crammed the Dancing Dale doll in it :D
In Portugal we had Tucha in the 70's but I'm not sure if it was released outside Portugal. Also, the main line of Living Dead Dolls seems to have stopped (at least for now), even though they keep running the "Presents" line, which is a shame, as I collect those dolls. And also, Bleeding Edge Goths. Those stopped quite a few years ago, also a shame!
Mary Quant brought us the mini skirt! Twiggy wore them a lot, with stockings. There's videos about the 60s Era London mod fashion on the Ultimate Fashion History channel on UA-cam. London was IT during that time, I believe Carnaby St in particular.
I agree with you about the molded-on clothes on the Forces of Destiny dolls, but I bought them anyway. In terms of quality and play value they're not great but I think their faces and hairstyles actually look really nice and they look so cute sitting posed and sitting on my shelves, which is really the most I'm ever going to do with them.
My baby sister & I collected the Dawn dolls. Up until a couple of years ago, I still had a few. I miss my baby sister & hated that I lost the Dawn dolls.
i guess he meant more like, classic fashion dolls ya know? like the LOL’s don’t have brushable hair, i would consider the OMG’s to be fashion dolls but the regular LOL Surprise to be more like figurines
I used to play with fashion Polly Pocket dolls, there was a line of those dolls with articulated arms and legs as well as real long hair, and it was so good. 👌
I have some Dawn dolls. They're my favorite n they were most fashionable. My youngest daughter had a set they made back in 2007 or 2008 but some guy stole all our stuff out of storage along with her Winx club dolls
Oh ,I wish I'd kept my Daisy dolls ,Dawn also had a similar doll called Pippa in the 60s and 70s in uk and I had them all including furniture, and I had Two Dustys 😄 yes you bought what you could back then, but I did like her, thanks for the trip down memory lane . 😊
Perfect timing! I was just celebrating the lol omg dolls first birthday! I was thinking about how happy I am because their not discontinued, and this popped up in my recommendations 😁😅
I remember the Polly Fashion dolls! My cats LOVED playing with the clothes because they were bouncy and chewable - I think I ended up using them more as cat toys than to dress up the dolls!
The Dawn dolls are SO adorable!! I have one, but she’s nekkid! And I LOVE the Forces of Destiny dolls, but I dislike the plastic clothes too! I thought it was just me! I NEED the Padme one, she’s harder to find.
I love the 2000s polly! I definitely chewed on the clothes too, and stuck a pair of the trainers up my nose, which sent me to hospital 😐 needless to say I didn’t do that again!
Mattel actually started making the Polly Pocket fashion dolls again a couple of years ago! They have plastic hair again, but they work exactly the same. I'm not sure if Mattel has started selling the Polly Pocket reboot internationally yet, but it's very cute - I'm hoping they continue it
I had Daisy the Mary Quant doll and Action girl . I used to collect pedigree sindy dolls. I also had a lot of Pippa dolls , Dawn dolls and Hornby Flower fairies which were a cute size and shape but I wish they had more clothes than just fairy dresses. I still have some of those.
I loved my dawn dolls, especially angie, my flatsy dolls, various types of liddle kiddles, upsy downsy dolls, crissy, and I especially loved brunette casey from the barbie line.
I was obsessed with those Polly dolls! I had so many sets! And I agree. I stopped liking them after they stopped making the rubber clothes. I think it would be super cool if someone made a Drag Queen doll line.
Rizzy Dawkins actually he always refers to the 00s and everything Y2K-related as the the noughties. “Nought” is another word for zero in the UK! I love it because it sounds like naughties which describes the 2000s perfectly 😂
I got a huge box of Dawn clothing at local thrift store, and sold a few for upwards of $70! I also have Harry, (Yule Ball) Ron, and Hermione from Tonner!
I loved polly pocket as a kid. I always lost the shoes, or the shoes band ripped off. I went also on their website. Polly was def one of my favorite dolls. Sad that they stopped making them. They now make the original ones. The really tiny ones.
Mary Quant is a fashion designer who came to prominence in the 60s often credited for designing the mini skirt. Daisy dolls who she designed clothes for are from the early 70s.
If you’re planning on doing another video then you should definitely check out Winx Club (they have several variations of dolls) , Regal Academy , Barbie Peekaboos/Mini B , Stardoll dolls , WITCH
i can't comment on part 3 so i'm gonna comment here, i was so excited when you included secret central because i had a good year of obsessing over those dolls, the coolest part about them was the backstories. they had cheaply animated webisodes about the characters on their website but i think they should've had a tv show or books. they had like 20 something characters each "class" (there were two classes) and everyone had their own best friends, enemies, significant others, and cliques, it was so cool
My sisters and I all had the Ariel and her sister dolls and used them in my grandma's pool! They held up surprisingly well in constant chlorine and I loved Adela
I used to have the polly pocket fashion case and I miss it so much! Also my grandma used to have the small Dawn doll. She bought it for my aunt when she was little but by the time me and my cousins were old enough to play with her she was a compete wreck lol. I think she's still in my grandparents toy chest though.
I had a couple of the fashion Polly Pocket set. Broke my heart when you mentioned it because my mom took them away after my younger sister put a tiny Polly shoe up her nose 😭
I loved the Cassy dolls from the very early 90s. They were made by Hornby and the packaging was like a hard plastic VHS cassette box which, when fitted together would form a house, each one having a card 'room' scene on the cassette box. The dolls were small, I'd guess around 6".
I definitely wish they would try to do some more smaller doll lines I feel like bigger ones are more popular right now. Loved the fashion polly pockets. My Grandma also had a dawn doll I used to love playing with and I also had a few of the mattel mini kingdom dolls. Great fun sizes I would really love if they brought some of those back. Definitely really liked the Ariel doll line idea if they brought that back it would be really neat!
Polly Pockets with the rubber outfits made a comeback in 2018 in the US. She even has a show to go along. They still look gorgeous, but they are cheaper now, even the head and the hair are made out of hard plastic now. Here in Brazil they were never discontinued because they’ve always been a success here. Luckily we have more than 100 different head/hair molds!
I love my Dawn dolls, and really loved making clothes for them because all you needed was small scraps. When I look at them now, I still love them. However I can get over the crazy clothes I made as a child. What was I thinking???
I loved the Dawn collection as a kid - had the original, the black haired one, and the black one - my favorite. Had this hideous floppy plastic bag (meant to imitate leather - thick, textured and ugly lol) that had a peek-a-boo compartment to put the doll in. (ETA: the "Dawn 'n' me pocketbook" - nightmare worthy lol) They were awesome and came with really cool clothes. Also had the Dusty, with cowboy gear. She wasn't quite so ugly in person. I loved that she wasn't typical Barbie shape. She was a tomboy, and so was I lol. I had a doll called Tuesday Taylor, and the top of her head spun round so she went from brunette to blonde - I loved her body style and eyes. There was also a weird line, slightly larger than Barbie - Darci - came with modeling portfolio. These were early 80s maybe.
I LOVE Shibajuku girls. I have several. They're not on display at the moment. I got both Yokos from the first two lines and then wound up with two others at sale prices at our discount store. Oddly, I can't find the Yoko shown in your thumbnail but I know I HAVE her, just in another box. She's probably in the one that has Maleficent. The one thing I don't like is the hair tends to tangle easily. They hang out with my pullips though and fit right in. I agree with you on the smaller dolls. I was SO disappointed the new she-ra dolls weren't action figure sized!
I have both fashion Star Wars Queen Amadolla (sp) dolls from the prequels lol. The one was super fun you could style her hair in a bunch of styles from the movies.
I mean most dolls are skinny & blonde anyway... Needless to say Bratz, Monster High & Barbie being the biggest Doll lines of our time depict skinny female figures... Sure Barbie has "plus size" & is trying to be more inclusive but thats all for commercial reasons & the dolls aren't really cute or fashion, its simply, here's a big girl... So I don't see why you couldn't have a Naomi doll in 2020? What's really the difference.
as if I would ever forget Polly pocket! Also I really wish tiny dolls were still being made. Like the lil bratz, and Barbie also used to sell minis (with brushable hair and made to look like the regular ones).
I LOVE the Ariel & Her Sisters dolls, you rarely ever see stylization pushed to that degree in playline fashion dolls, it's a shame they're so rare and expensive..!
For anyone wondering, Mary Quant was a British fashion designer who was famous during the 60s. Her work was highly influential in the London Mod / Swinging Sixties look, with her being regarded as the person who invented, or at least brought to the mainstream, mini skirts. She passed away last year at the grand old age of 93. A few years back, the V&A did an amazing exhibition about her work, and it was so lovely to see these vintage clothing pieces in person. They also had one of the Mary Quant Daisy dolls on display, and she was BEAUTIFUL! I would love to own one one day.
I just gave away all my Polly stuff not too long ago! I had the So Hip Cruise Ship, a little purple car with a crimped hair Polly, and a fold-up house from 2002 with an air glitter wardrobe. I randomly found a doll about two weeks ago! And yes, I did chew her gummy clothes after throroughly washing them 🤣🤣 I still have my Mary Kate and Ashley dolls!
OMG I have that Ariel and her sisters doll! I’ve been trying to figure out what line she was from. I can see why it got discontinued because there was a sharp piece of wire that came out of her tail the more I used to play with her. Very dangerous for kids
I actually still have of my Polly pocket fashion dolls I prefer them than any other versions. I also have that exact Polly play set in the first photo but in a different color variation.
I don't dislike the dolls for their 'unrealistic standards', I hate them cause they have god awful proportions 😂
I actually just sold the Ariel from that set on eBay. They are very strange looking dolls in my opinion. The one cool thing though is that their waists are ball jointed so the tails are super poseable. But they are also incredibly small-waisted.
To be fair, the waist and arms are so tiny it looks like a mermaid suffering from some sort of eating disorder or sickness...
They look like hotdogs with hair

I had a Mary Quant Daisy and several Deluxe Topper Dawn dolls when I was a child. Early to mid 1970s.
I was obsessed with those Polly dolls! I had so many sets! And I agree. I stopped liking them after they stopped making the rubber clothes. I think it would be super cool if someone made a Drag Queen doll line.
What are the "naughty's" is it like another term for the 2000's?
He is saying "nineties" but his accent plays with the word a little bit XD
Yes he means 2000s as in NOUGHTies.
Rizzy Dawkins actually he always refers to the 00s and everything Y2K-related as the the noughties. “Nought” is another word for zero in the UK! I love it because it sounds like naughties which describes the 2000s perfectly 😂
When you do a Part 5, please put in Hot Looks dolls from the 1980s.
M’y favourite from this list is Shibajuku… I absolutely LOVE this design! 💗💗💗
The really tiny ones.
i miss strawberry shortcake doll series 🍓🍓🍓
Me too!
Joey : I want to chew the purple top
Me : 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
There was an "ariel and sisters" play set on the disney store last year, very pretty... ❤️
Saw it in the Disney store the other day - so tempted to buy it! :)
Mary Quant is a fashion designer who came to prominence in the 60s often credited for designing the mini skirt. Daisy dolls who she designed clothes for are from the early 70s.
Holy crap! I literally had that Polly pocket thing that you showed at 1:57. I wish I still did.
I am cracking up about chewing on the Polly Pocket fashion! That is so true
Love these videos ❤️ not sure if they’ve been in a video yet but I miss the victorious dolls ❤️
The last line of dolls really look inspired on Devil Wears Prada😍
If you’re planning on doing another video then you should definitely check out Winx Club (they have several variations of dolls) , Regal Academy , Barbie Peekaboos/Mini B , Stardoll dolls , WITCH
I love the 60’s Dawn dolls I have three of them
The first doll you are showing I did have a long time ago and I do miss them, that I do understand but it’s a chocking haste 😢
i can't comment on part 3 so i'm gonna comment here, i was so excited when you included secret central because i had a good year of obsessing over those dolls, the coolest part about them was the backstories. they had cheaply animated webisodes about the characters on their website but i think they should've had a tv show or books. they had like 20 something characters each "class" (there were two classes) and everyone had their own best friends, enemies, significant others, and cliques, it was so cool
I didn't forget about Shibajuku Girls. I have few of those. :)
I use to have the first one you showed which is Polly Pocket and it looks the exactly the same as my one when I was younger.
Aw. That is quite sad.
I loved the Cassy dolls from the very early 90s. They were made by Hornby and the packaging was like a hard plastic VHS cassette box which, when fitted together would form a house, each one having a card 'room' scene on the cassette box. The dolls were small, I'd guess around 6".
6:00 (inserts sPeCiAl face) "its not great... Not a good look :| " lmfaooo
Mary quant was a 1960s fashion designer
I had a load of the Polly Pocket sets. The clothes were great, except the rubber trousers were impossible to get on and off!
Also love these vids but my dude you need to do some research in the process haha, you didn't know who Mary Quant is? :0
And yes, I did chew her gummy clothes after throroughly washing them 🤣🤣
I still have my Mary Kate and Ashley dolls!
Tonner Dolls were such a great brand! I am so lucky to own about 16 of them! Mostly super heroes, a couple of Muppets, and Jessica Rabbit. :-)
Oh my gosh my mom has a few Dawn dolls in a Dawn dolls box !!!
5:00 I have the Cece Jones first Disney VIP doll I loved Shake it Up so much as kid I also really want the Rocky Blue one but she’s harder to find 😢
They have mini Disney mermaid dolls on the Disney shop website.
