Me and my sister had TONS of those magnetic Polly Pockets as well as other Pollies that were rubbery and also had magnets, but this time in their feet so they could stick to playsets and things. I was like 5 when the recall happened and my mom contacted Mattel almost immediately. I thought it was really cool, and I don't think I had any issues with mine, either that or I don't remember the magnet coming loose.
Wow, I actually had the Skydancer that you showed in the photo growing up. 🤣 I actually feel like a bit of a super Auntie right now. 😊 I officially got my oldest nephew ( he’s 7, soon to be 8) his first doll to start his doll collection. 😊 We went to 2 different Walmarts today, I was trying to find the Rainbow High Winter Break dolls, but sadly, at both stores, I had no luck, so sadly I didn’t get any of those today, but, at the second Walmart, I was looking at the other dolls that were there, and so was my nephew, and as we were looking, he asked if I could get him something, I said yes, and then he asks me. “ Auntie Hannah, would it be weird for a boy to get a doll?” Of course, I tell him it’s absolutely not weird and he could get a doll if he wants too, he smiled so big and he got the doll from the new Spirit movie, it came with the girl and Spirit. He wanted to get Skyler too, ( yes, Rainbow High Skyler) but I couldn’t afford it. ( I wanted to set some money aside for when I do find the Winter Break dolls.) So I told him I’d get him Skyler for his Birthday. 😊 he was so happy, he gave me the biggest hug, and I just felt so happy for him. 😊😊😊💜💜💜
It’s too bad about the Polly Pocket dolls with magnetic clothes more as they were easier to put onto the dolls. The rubber clothes were a pain in the bum to put on the dolls. X( And yeah! Number 8 should have been restricted, making it available for adult doll collectors only. I had the Skydancer named Angelica. I guess I’m one of the lucky ones. I wonder how the producers of dolls prevent toxic chemicals?
I also still have all my skydancers. I point blank refused to let them be taken away, even after I managed to give myself a black eye with the giant one I had 🤣🤣🤣
I had a Skydancer growing up . Thankfully I've never had an issue with it hitting me or any of my friends when we played with it. I loved my Skydancer.
Right when the Cabbage Patch Snack Time Kid was beginning to be recalled my mother raced out to get one before they were taken off the shelves because she thought that it would be super valuable. So somewhere I have one NIB. It’s probably gone by now, seeing as we’ve moved around and I’ve moved out, to be honest. I remember the news reports and how little girls would have chunks of their hair and even scalp ripped out by these dolls. The on/off switch for the chewing mechanism wasn’t easily accessible. You literally had to strip the doll naked and open its back to access it.
When I grew up, I was surprised to hear that Sky Dancers were ever recalled/considered dangerous. Many of my friends had them, and the worst thing that seemed to happen is that they would fly up and get stuck on the ceiling fan.
when you said that you wouldnt trust makeup in a dolls toy it makes me laugh because I used to have a monster high styling head that came with lip gloss and I used to put it on myself lol
I had a bunch of Sky Dancer dolls. Growing up I lived in a house that had I high ceiling in the living room. I would try to get my Sky Dancers a high as I could. Good times!
I remember the Polly pocket recall of 2007 of that play set and I think it was not just the magnets, but also the possibility of lead in the paint. I remember watching the news story with my parents as it came on the TV and my little sister had the set and we all loved it. We really did not want them to take it away and return it so they basically had a talk with us about the issues with it and how to be extra careful with the toy so we could keep it and continue playing with it. Always thought it was a good learning opportunity and parenting move.
Oh my god I had the rollerblades that sparked!!! I always thought they seemed dangerous and thought I was going to burn myself but I guess I was smart and careful enough so they weren't an issue
I had Barbie & Tanner, it was my favorite Barbie toy because I liked that the dog can be fed. Oh god I had the Polly Pocket one too! Had no idea those were recalled at the time.
My roller skates Barbie was my favorite as a child, it was such a cool toy & I loved seeing the sparks. Never knew about this recall, I still have her unfortunately the skates don’t work anymore 😆

i specifically chewed on my mulan dolls hand, it was only one hand i cant remember which one but i have no idea why i only ever chewed on that specific hand on that specific doll
I had a Skydancer as a kid and I never had any issues with it attacking me. And there is that one internet meme of some kid's Skydancer flying into a burning fireplace. But I'm not surprised, as the whole 'flying' gimmick is similar to launching a projectile.
I only had the rollerblading Barbie as kid and lucky I didn’t set anything on fire. Though I do remember her dangerous feature being discussed on the news and remembered the recalls of Sky Dancers and the snack time Cabbage Patch kids.
My sisters and I had a couple Skydancers. I was a really weird kid and always liked smacking myself in the face with the wings while the doll was still in it's base.
i had the cabbage patch doll that ate. now i wish i hadnt gotten rid of it years ago. honestly though, i remember the gear being pretty far back in its mouth/throat. id stick my fingers part way in all the time as a kid to get the food to go all the way through (it had a tendency to get stuck and not fall through into the backpack where you were supposed to gather it after) and had no issues. guess i was lucky
I also had the Barbie and Tanner set as a kid, still have them. Me and my family never knew it got recalled. i played with that dog all the time!! That's crazy to me!!
OMG I didn't know the Tanner dog toy was recalled! Either I had that one or a friend had it because I remember playing with it a lot. I also had the quick click polly pocket fashion!
I had a skydancer. I got her for Christmas and I remember how excited I was. Unfortunately her mechanism broke and she could no longer fly at some point.
The toxic chemical recalls are a textbook example of why you shouldn't buy counterfeit toys. If legit toys are victims of this, counterfeit are like 1000% more likely to contain toxic stuff.
Another recall on a "Barbie Doll" was the "Kamora" fashion doll, it came with a pet dog, it was the pet dog that was painted with paints having toxic level of lead. Parents, doll owners were warned about the toxic lead paint on the dog, & were told to just toss the dog in the trash, keep away from children.
This brought back memories of my first and only Polly Pocket toy; I think it was called the Polly Pocket Boutique - it was my first serious big toy, it was big and pink and I was really proud of it. I think I was around 11 and I made the mistake of wanting to show it off to friends - because a few months into owning it, pieces of the magnetic clothes and boutique furniture started going missing - I’m now 26, and if i ever track down this toy again, I’m gonna grab it purely for nostalgia sake and do my damn best to preserve it
I remember the sky dance …especially a gif……which is so epic……a little girl open the doll on the firestove side…😂😂😂then the doll fly right into the flame…😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I had not a sky dancer doll , but similar helicopters .... one was a really big one , I think no toy company would make somethig big and dangerous nowadays .
I had the rollerblade Ken. I remember there being a lot of warnings about where to use the skates. I only ever used them outside on the sidewalk in front of my house. It was pretty cool seeing the sparks.
I live in Denmark and apparently Bratz dolls was being talked about and being reported, because some kids got burns by the hair coloring that came along with some dolls :/
The only time my Sky Dancer hit me was when she came down and landed on me but I never got smacked in the face or anything. My guess is parents bought these for small children and didn't read the instructions before letting the kids play with them unsupervised 😕
I remember having barbies skates, me and my older brother were in one room, I was playing on the floor in my barbies house, it had a carpet/rug and I put the skates on my fingers and it started flickering, thank god 4 year old me knew how fires started so I showed them to my brother and we just didn’t use them, a few months back we found them again while cleaning my closet and it lit up a few little memories:D
Omg I had a pair of the rollerskates in a secondhand barbie bundle I bought as a kid and once I found out they sparked I was terrified of ever playing with them
2:54 my sister had that Barbie. Eventually I wound up with the outfit and skates (no idea what happened to the doll) I used to go to the park with my friends and use the skates to spark a little campfire. I think I still have the skates somewhere. lol
I had a skydancer growing up. I remember a neighbor of mine also had one. We would keep them as far away from us as we could when we launched them, but that didn't stop us from getting smacked by them. We didn't think too much of it. We just thought they were fun.
The reason why Sky Dancer's are discontinued by GALOOB or Mattel if I'm correct, is because of eyed Injuries, because of pulling out the string in hard pressure, and they'll fly into the air in unexpected directions

Your voice is very relaxing
I used to have a sky dancer! loved that doll
I had the Barbie and tanner set and the poly pocket, good times!
I actually remember the sky dancers too. I might have been smacked in the face a few times but still kept playing 😂
I had the Barbie and Tanner doll & Sky Dancers as a kid! I used my Sky Dancer as like Sky Fighters on my other dolls.😂
This brought back memories of my first and only Polly Pocket toy; I think it was called the Polly Pocket Boutique - it was my first serious big toy, it was big and pink and I was really proud of it. I think I was around 11 and I made the mistake of wanting to show it off to friends - because a few months into owning it, pieces of the magnetic clothes and boutique furniture started going missing - I’m now 26, and if i ever track down this toy again, I’m gonna grab it purely for nostalgia sake and do my damn best to preserve it
I had that exact sky dancer that you showed in the video
I have the Barbie and tanner set and I have some of those Polly pockets
I used to have sky dancer dolls when I was a kid
I remember the sky dance …especially a gif……which is so epic……a little girl open the doll on the firestove side…😂😂😂then the doll fly right into the flame…😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I loved the Skydancer dolls.
I had not a sky dancer doll , but similar helicopters .... one was a really big one , I think no toy company would make somethig big and dangerous nowadays .
I had Polly Pocket growing up. I had the Quick Click set but I had to give it up when it was recalled
I had the rollerblade Ken. I remember there being a lot of warnings about where to use the skates. I only ever used them outside on the sidewalk in front of my house. It was pretty cool seeing the sparks.
I loved my cool Barbie sparking roller blades. I think I had one spin dancer.
"My theoretical child" 😆 love this guy lol
I live in Denmark and apparently Bratz dolls was being talked about and being reported, because some kids got burns by the hair coloring that came along with some dolls :/
The only time my Sky Dancer hit me was when she came down and landed on me but I never got smacked in the face or anything. My guess is parents bought these for small children and didn't read the instructions before letting the kids play with them unsupervised 😕
Thank you for making videos like this! I love learning about Barbie history and I am becoming a collector myself❤️
I had no idea Barbie and Tanner was recalled. I kept on playing with mine.
I loved my Skydancer doll. I still have it, luckily it was one of the few dolls I kept.
Wait how did I get a sky dancer in 2010 from my aunt!!!!
Omg I had a pair of the rollerskates in a secondhand barbie bundle I bought as a kid and once I found out they sparked I was terrified of ever playing with them
Snack Time Cabbage Patch!!!
That was my favorite doll as a kid and I would always stick my fingers in its mouth lol I'm glad nothing bad ever happened
I had sky dancers and I remember seeing the commercial for the dog walking Barbie and in stores but never owned it.
I have four of those fruit baby dolls however I only put them up on display and don’t really touch them. Didn’t know they were toxic! Yikes!
The reason why Sky Dancer's are discontinued by GALOOB or Mattel if I'm correct, is because of eyed Injuries, because of pulling out the string in hard pressure, and they'll fly into the air in unexpected directions
i got the barbie and tanner set for my 3rd birthday.
i also had a sky dancer as well
Did you ever talk about Kid Kore in the discontinued doll lines? I only found out about them through another channel.
I had the original skydancers and never had a problem with it. I remember hearing about the cabbage patch eating doll.
