- The second eyas K-52 fell from the ledge also this afternoon. Both chicks are now on the ground or in the trees below. Awaiting information from RRP on the situation. Thank you for watching!

New update from RRP 6.5.17: Just an update for everyone. We have been able to see that Michelle and Newman are perched in the trees below and are continuing to care for their eyasses. It's hard to hear sometimes with the traffic noise, but we have heard vocals (yes plural) and are hopeful that both are fine. We will continue to keep you updated as we have more information.

That is impossible! There is no way they are fine after they fell from that height!

Update from RRP fb page 9:00pm 6.3.17
We are aware that Hamilton and Burr-D are out of the box at Great Spirit Bluff. The two falcons are around 28 days of age today and we have decided not to try to bring them back to the box. Michelle and Newman will find them and care for them until fledge, as we saw in 2013 and 2014. We will see if we can locate them with the camera, but we have no intention of going to the base of the cliff, which could drive them deeper into the tangle below. We are hopeful for both little falcons and will keep everyone posted.
We're getting questions on the box design and production at Great Spirit Bluff. Are the falcons falling because the perches are poorly designed? In short, no - but you can read more about the issue here: bit.ly/2qNSRsJ
John is thinking about ways to design the replacement box that will minimize problems with black flies. We are about 40% of the way through our banding season and it looks like black flies and weather plagued impacted many of our wilder sites this year. We'll talk about that later this week.

Lady Hawk, thank you for the update. I've realized within this 1st year of watching eagles, falcons and furry baby wannabe fliers it's a hobby not for the faint of heart. Still, big hearts of love for them win out. I hope and pray all will be okay.

Even if they find and bring the eyasses back to the box, they are only going to fall again after again venturing out onto the ledge. Not a good situation. RRP needs to build a ledge protector that will allow them to get up on the ledge but not to fall out of the box and would keep them in the box. This will happen again next year if this box is utilized or improvements/protection is not built around the box, Ladyhawk. Please let us know the status of the eyasses as soon as you are made aware. We are all holding our breath hoping the babies fall was cushioned and they are alive with no injuries. I totally agree with Grandma S's comments below.
Yes I will keep everyone informed as soon as information is shared. I heard both babies tonight right before dark so I think they were cushioned from the fall and hope that they will be safe on the ground in the upcoming weeks until they can fly.
Hope the little ones are safe. If found , I hope they do not return them to this nest box. I would rather never see them on camera again than put them back in this bug infested environment. This is so stressful on Michelle, the rescuers, and the viewers. Praying for a good outcome and hope you keep us informed when you learn more. Thanks to all who are out there again doing the best for this family.

I have the utmost confidence that you will keep us viewers updated but I wonder how when there will be no more videos of these little ones. I pray they will be fine and maybe you can spot them on the camera. I guess we just have to keep praying and hope for the survival of these precious little babies that were being eaten alive by flies. Hope they can find a solution to the problem for the sake of all birds. No one should let conservation progress take a backward step after all the work people have devoted to it. Thanks Lady Hawk and let us know how you will keep us in the loop whenever you get any new information.
LADYHAWK - I know one of the chicks fell last week and was returned to the nest when they cleaned it. Michelle has pulled them back in the nest numerous times. This is so tragic. I wish they would add more safety for these chicks like several additional rails and a board underneath to keep them from falling through the rails. Please keep us informed of the status of the chicks when you hear. I am praying for them. Thank you for your videos!
Hi R Jax - thank you - I will keep everyone informed with all updates. They said they will be panning the cliff view cam for them this week and they both were heard tonight so we believe they are both alive and being cared for on the ground by Michelle & Newman. With some luck, we may even see them when they can fly and return to the nest in a couple of weeks.
LadyHawk - Thank you for the quick response update on the chicks. It is a miracle that both chicks survived the fall and were heard tonight. God certainly had His hands under the nest to cushion them and keep them alive. I still pray for their long-term survival and hope they were not injured too seriously in the fall. I look forward to seeing them again healthy and flying. I will keep an eye out on your channel for new videos. Thank you so much for all you do to help us keep up with so many webcams of God's littlest and youngest feathered friends. Your work is so appreciated!
NOOOO! They need to fix this asap! It really wouldn't be that hard to put a low bar across the bottom to make it more difficult for the chicks to fall
Time to take this box down, it's been nothing but sadness
I agree that this nest is filled with so much stress and sadness. Need to tear it down and start over with a sanitary one in a much better location with a few more safety features.

oh Lord....I'm devastated. We've already been lucky when the first fall happened....it will be a miracle if BOTH survive this fall this time. I can't imagine Michelle and Newman will even want to nest their again if none of their offspring survive
There were no problems last year with 4 eyases. Bad luck this year, but that's nature.
Mom sees her last baby perched on the edge and just flies off. Now she has an empty nest as I'm sure neither baby could survive their falls. That seems to be a terrible place for a nest in the first place. The babies had just been banded too. How sad this was. Since E9 left I was keeping tabs on these babies and now there are none.

Hi Nancy - it has been a very long day for me - started covering them early in the morning and then when I saw Burr-D get on the ledge I had a feeling it was going to be a bad day. I hope they will be safe - it just depends where they are- I worry about predators. I know they will get fed. I was not ready to lose them so fast!!
I know LH....you must be exhausted and heartbroken. You have A LOT of different areas to cover. I thought for awhile there that the little ones had stopped venturing out and everything was good. This is the worst part about following these nests. I wish we knew that they were ok. Hopefully, today will bring us some better news. Take care my special friend...big hugs
They are both fine Nancy - they have been heard and Mom and Dad are feeding them and tending to them.
OMG REALLY?????? YOU HAVE MADE MY DAY LH!!!!! Miracles DO happen. Our prayers paid off. Thank you dear God for allowing Michelle and Newman to continue to raise these two little ones.
LH not sure if you caught the trio baby #1 (BIG MONSTER girl lol) who paid a visit awhile ago today. She was screaming as usual looking for dad to bring her something good to eat. She nibbled on some old scraps in the nest and then got tired of waiting and took off.

Those babies are just determined to get out of the nest early. I know they nest on ledges etc but the mortality rate must be high. Hope they are OK.
There is still a lot of fly bothering these birds to Mom and she does not stop shaking her head because of the insects.
The bugs were all over the baby. Seems like they're both escaping. Idk what it's like in a box, but probably not comfortable. It's not open like a nest. They seemed pretty content and comfortable in the box after that thorough bug treatment, but now less so that the bugs are back.😩 I agree, maybe this isn't the greatest idea, until they can figure out a better solution. Hope they're both okay. I wonder if they would consider rescuing them again but fixing the box? Any word? I couldn't find an official web page, when I did a quick google search earlier. Do you have a link?
