I'm more impressed by the show of empathy than intelligence. Raptors are known to have an extremely low capacity for empathy even towards their own offspring so this is truly an incredible reaction by the parent.
Females have an instinctive ability to gather their chicks close to them, males do not have this instinctive ability so the chick would be doomed if left to the male.
That was amazing seeing mom work that problem out and coming up with the correct solution on how to save her baby. Then at the end it almost looked as mom was shaking her head saying no don’t do that again too lol.
That was pretty cool! You could see her working it out. I don't see this kind of intelligence in birds very often. Most regular birds just sit there and watch, even eagles will ignore a chick that is flipped over or out of the nest. This was pretty cool!
Mom did a great job rescuing her chick! She would have to have experience but it would seem she saw this before or she was rescued by her mom. Experience sure helps the situation. I try to imagine her brain figuring out how to rescue her chick & from what side so her baby wouldn't fall! That's one determined momma! I have never seen a bird do this before. But Harriet the eagle knew when Ozzie couldn't get a whole squirrel pelt down & came & pulled it out of his mouth! Birds are amazing with what they know & can do!
Parent just brought food to nest. Younger one is eating like crazy. Older chick is nodding-off with eyes closed, either too tired and or full after his experience away from nest. Right after I posted the foregoing, parent flew off and both kids look like they are digesting :)
This is an old video but I’ve noticed that the bugs are pretty bad here. Are they always this bad? This is my first time seeing this nest. I know that gnats can get pretty bad at nests during the summer. So bad to the point that they’re blocking up the chicks nostrils and killing them. I believe this is what the chicks were doing. Trying to get out of the nest and away from the bugs. Watch 3:08 - 3:20 and look very closely at the chicks back. You can see many gnats crawling all over them. Why the gnats go after these chicks is because their nostrils and also their eyes hold moisture. It looks hot and dry there.
Oh my goodness! That nearly gave me a heart attack! Thank God for the mother. @Arlene Beech, does "After one chick falling" mean another chick fell and could not be saved? If "yes", that's so sad!
The work of this bird was amazing. It has a thousand points. I saw an eagle that has many times the body of this bird. The chick was two or three days old. I saw another bird, its chick was small and could not walk properly, that's why one of its legs got stuck in the wood around the nest, interestingly, this happened in front of its parents' eyes, the chick's parents watched until the chick died from the extreme cold. Of course, parents fought for a bigger share of their child's meat. In my opinion, this bird is the king of all birds on earth ❤❤👍👏👏👏👏👏😘
Falcons are so brilliant. I've seen them save their chicks time and time again. While other birds of prey like eagles will just sit there and do nothing when a chick is in distress.
Amazing how the first baby who fell survived the fall now back in nest .. its resting hope it survives ... by chance i believe the guys were in the area for banding and got the call it fell and they saved it put it back in nest cleaned and sprayed the nest . to clean out the bugs
First time ever! First time I've ever seen a bird mom with a brain like this. One of a kind.
Cyrus Besaga Boy! Think twice before saying "bird brain" eh? Lol.

@@helenaville5939 just maternal instincts !
The inverse is also true. How unintelligent is the nestling not to return to the nest once mom got it on its feet?
Females have an instinctive ability to gather their chicks close to them, males do not have this instinctive ability so the chick would be doomed if left to the male.
This Falcon seems to have more maternal instinct.. Unbelievable but it did rescued her chic really amazing..thank you for sharing :)
I've been looking for this mothering for years. I knew the right bird would break the mold. Michelle is a hero of all bambinos

This isn't intelligence it is instinct. What's a regular bird btw?
@@DavidSimmons-k2t Regular birds, like little tree tweeties that peck at worms in the yard and don't eat the chickens! LOL!
Wise mom, very rare!
Как это трогательно и мило 👍

No one can be like mother on this earth.
Maternal instinct... Wise and cool brain...
@5:07 The Dad was like: “Fuck responsibilities. I’m outta here.”
What an excellent/smart mother! ...other bird species just look the other way when their babies fall from the nest.
It didn't fall from the nest,it was still in the nest she just pulled it to her.
ماں تو ماں ہی ہوتی ہے بہادر ماں 👍👌❤️🤲

Yes. No doubt Michelle was applying her understanding of Newtonian physics to haul the chick back in. Birds really are quite smart.
In this situation mother bird had a problem thinking outside the box
