Your channel is gold, learning to cook like this is exactly what I needed to connect back to my culture. Many of us kids who grew up in the states were never really taught to cook like this.. so thank you.

Hey Chris Thanks for showing the plated dish. That goes a long way when you wanna have ideas to add to your dishes.
in Jamaica the part where you put the sugar in the hot oil until it turn golden brown is what we call 'burning the sugar'.It's nice with chicken too
same terminology in trini lol
Same in vincy lol
Lime and salt the beef first thing, leave for a little while, wash the beef off throughly, then put the green seasoning, your choice of herbs and spice and leave to marinate overnight, the Bajan way enjoy:)
Same in Guyana
I made this last night and it was slamming. I did marinate over night but it was sooo good. All i can say is SHABBA! lol thanks.again for another prefect meal.
You make me want to move to Canada.... next to your house👩🍳🍲❤
My Kitchen should be wicked by now 👌
The way that you take on this traditional comfort food is giving me plenty of ideas for different version of this classic. I've got to try your recipe.
July 16-20 20 I tried it but I served it over a carbonara pasta that I made it turned out really great thank you
There are times when I also add potatoes.. great for stretching the dish for more people.
When would you add them in ? When you’re putting the beef in the pot ?
I liked your technique for this not how I do it, but I like to see how others cook so I can try something different sometimes. Thumbs up;)

place it in a sealed container in the fridge or freeze in an ice cube tray. Then use for when cooking stew chicken, beef, pork, fish.. curry dishes and as a marinade when grilling meats. It can last for months in the fridge.
Tried this recipe out and it was really great. Thanks for your Help.

My kids were born in the US. I get properly corrected when I say that I am making stewed beef. "It's beef stew mom". I have to roll my eyes when I hear them pronounce Roti. Lol.
Blue Diamond lol what they say? “Row-di” lol cuz I’ve heard that one before.
last time i made my stewed Beef i used beer for the gravy! it was really nice and gave it a nice malty heartily taste! maybe you could try it one day... :)
trinibob85 I’m gonna try that
Chris baby, you are an original, true to yourself non pretentious man. I say so because your words and language is from the caribbean and aimed at caribbean people and your words are not confusing. for example it took me a while to understand that what a lot of Guyanese presenters were doing is using regular Guyanese words / accent and then suddenly interspersing their explanations with American ( some other watchers think it is American accent) e.g. you said quite clearly " stewed" these other people are saying " stU" you say tuh-mah-toes they are saying "to-MAY-toes". I am reminded of the Tradewind singers and their song "COPYCAT" check it out, and have a laugh at the " wannabees". Any way brother man great recipe as usual. Thanks and Nuff love and respek. keep dem recipes coming through.
Turned out amazing! My family was so impressed, thank you!
Hi!! 😎 I'm in CT, USA. I luv ur recipes. Do NOT like any heat, so u already know; NO scotch bonnet peppers 4 me. 😝😝 Tolerate chili powder, that's about it. Do use pepper w/tumeric powder cuz they say it's good 4 us. ☺☺ Make it a GREAT DAY!!
if you want to be the hero of your household, and also have an incredibly delicious dinner, pleaseeee follow this recipe. it's slap yo mama good, as us Yankees say. Chris you are a wonderful chef, my friend!!
Thanks for sharing God bless

Hey Chris - always enjoy your videos. I don't use any oil when I am caramelizing my sugar for stews.... get the same result without the calories. You should try it sometime - just burn the sugar in the pot but don't use oil!!!!

This was fantastic! I had 2 lbs. of stew meat but I didn't want to make average beef stew. As luck would have it, I had ALL of your ingredients excepts for the hot pepper :( I luv spicy food so I will use the pepper next time. I went and blended my fave herbs from my garden but I'm going to look up your recipe for the herb paste. This had such a lovely taste over pasta.. Thanks sooo much for sharing, sooo delish!! :-)

I saw on TV a tip or trick, if you want to call it that, on how to make a stew more shinny and glossy at the end. Just mix about Tablespoon of unflavored gelatin in half a cup of water and add it to the stew towards the last hour.
you are amazing ...and entertaining
love your recipes.. enthusiasm.. great explanations

Chris, my mouth is watering! I'll check to see if my local Jamaican grocery has the green seasoning in the fridge--have to try this and then make some of your fantastic rice and peas!
Hi Chris that will be Woostersher! If it helps......that was hilarious 😂😂😂. Of course it doesn't help that they tagged on the sauce at the end, bit of a tongue twister! I made yourgreen seasoning ....FABULOUS!!. Use it on everything meat and fish. I'm cooking your ultimate beef curry right now. I'm so hungry I could almost eat it half cooked. Thanks for sharing. Stella

hi chris, i try your recipe yesterday and it was so so good, i love your videos continue like this
Right after you add the beef. You will get a nice brown color on the potatoes, then when you add the water it will cook off the potatoes. Make sure you soak the potatoes in water and salt to get rid of the extra starch.
Omg I want some!
Making This Now! Will Drop Update An Update With The Results :)
