    You saved me $720 on a repair from the dealer. Cheapest was $475 around here for a normal shop. I paid $106 for the parts and did it myself. Problem solved!

    Thank you so much for the video.
    I did this to my 2016 GMC Terrain along with oil and filter change. Had negative post disconnected. Reconnected everything, started right up, and engine light disappeared!!Got the pair of camshaft sensors from eBay for 20.00.

      @@sharpcarco I changed out the O2 sensor a few days before I got the recall notice for the part in the mail. Today's going to be the fuel pressure sensor. It's been a real trial, but thankfully the engine in this vehicle is pretty accessible.

    Thank you so much for this video, and the facts at the bottom, very interesting. Great, Great Demonstration. I actually changed my Exhaus/Intake Solenoids before watching this specific one, but decided to watch a video, because I have a check engine light is on, and it's coming out w/a P0013 code. Plus a Catalytic System code of P0420.

      @@sharpcarco can I ask you this, I got them changed back in July and now the code says it’s the camshafts again but it’s been two years since I changed the battery in my car and jiffy lube did say it needed to be recharged then autocine says it’s fine and gives me the code for intake camshafts. Could I be having the same issue as back in July? I thought camshafts don’t mess up that frequent thanks in advance!

    • @sharpcarco

    I have a 2014 GMC terrain with the 2.4 motor and it stalls at the stop lights runs good but it stalls at the lights and it sometimes shakes like it wants to turn off
    The engine light came on once it stayed on one day and then it didn't come on again but it's still sputtering and occasionally it's stalls starts right back up and goes only Stalls on a takeoff or sputters on a takeoff while you're idling.. but it runs well as you're driving at high speeds no hesitations or anything. I'm a bit confused because on a different video the terrain for those same cylinders were showing a 0010 and a 0011 code yours is po0014 and po0013 if you don't mind maybe giving me some advice I would very much appreciate it...

    I have p0010 code 2016 GMC Terrain and changed both solenoids INT and EXT....I had reduced engine power pop up on the dash and wouldnt start the next day....when i go to Try to start the vehicle and go under the hood I am hearing a a faint clicking right by the front camshaft sensor.....Any suggestions please and thanks?!

    • @sharpcarco
      @sharpcarco  2 роки тому

      Man I’m sorry to hear that Russell. I made this video describing how to change the solenoids and how they function. But I have not made a video of why they go bad.
      It’s due to lack of oil pressure inside the engine that causes the solenoids to send the code to the computer. Then replacing the solenoids really isn’t the problem it’s the bearing clearance inside the head on the cams which causes low oil pressure.
      I’d like to make an in-depth video on the subject but I need a vehicle that has the problem so I can disassemble it and show people what is exactly going on

    Hello I have a 2011 GMC Terrain 4 cylinder. I have a P0341 code showing up, indicating my camshaft position sensor A is bad. I have replaced the sensor and after disconnecting the battery the code still comes on. Is there something else that could be triggering the code? Should I replace the same two sensors you replaced in the this video to see if it helps? Thank you for your time..

    • @sharpcarco
      @sharpcarco  3 роки тому +1

      Yes there is something else that could be causing that to come on. The timing chain is bad and the sensor is throwing a code because it knows it’s out of time

    Please note that GM specification torque on these 10mm hex head fasteners is 89-lb in MAXIMUM. Applied torque beyond 100 lb-in may result in damage to casting and subsequent oil leak due to shear fatigue in cover.

    • @sharpcarco
      @sharpcarco  3 роки тому

      I’m not sure but I think you may have missed read some thing if we’re talking about tightening down the solenoids they don’t tighten down any more than 8 to 10 foot pounds at most but more than likely I said 89 inch pounds which is totally different than foot pounds

    I had one come in that had timing chain guides broke and bent valves, I put a new cylinder head on it, new timing chain set, new cam phasers and new solenoids, ran great then after about 30 miles it was wanting to die when coming to a stop, and idles rough, I put the scanner on it and it has a p0014 code, I can control the solenoids off and on and hear them click, but it still has the p0014 exhaust cam over advance, Any ideals???

    • @sharpcarco
      @sharpcarco  4 роки тому +1

      Did you check the PCV hole on the intake to make sure it was not plugged when you removed the intake?
      And other than stating the obvious which I hate to. For whatever reason it is possible that the timing jumped.
      You obviously know how quick and simple it is to verify that.
      I find it simpler to take it apart. Trying to hook up the lab scope.
      And depending on what kind of solenoid you use it is possible that you have a low oil pressure problem which is making the solenoid stick.
      I hope you find some of that helpful maybe it’ll help you find the problem

    • @sharpcarco
      @sharpcarco  4 роки тому +1

      Well it’s extremely complicated they may not be failing but they technically are because of lack of oil pressure inside the engine at an idol. Bearings inside the engine where down and cause lower oil pressure especially at idle then causing the campuses to not work properly.
      By the way I work at an engine shop and yes it’s very common the cam phasers go bad even after a short period of time
