- in this video I'm gonna share with you how to diagnose and fix DTC P0011 - P0014 & P0013 on a Chevrolet Equinox! #vvtsolenoid
Very nice 👍 great job. I love that you showed the resistance test of the solenoids. Thank you
@John-NeverStopLearning My Pleasure!
Your video has been the best I've watched in regards to diy. Clear and very well explained
@robertorivera4946 Thank you!
Hi, I commented earlier about how you showed the DVM. I checked the solenoids on my wife’s car exactly the intake 22 and exhaust open. Picking up parts tomorrow. She is also getting new wipers and oil change. Thank you so much again.
@John-NeverStopLearning My Pleasure! I'm glad to hear that the video was helpful!
Exactly what I needed to fix my wife’s car thank you sir
@casey240 My Pleasure! Good Luck with your wife's car!
Did it work?
Thank you so much for this detail description. I just had this work done and the dealership service department and I now I fully understand what happened to my "Goldie".
@breeessentials My Pleasure!
Job well done. Pleased that you followed the diagnostic procedure and showed the activation test, resistance check plus safety. ❤ Stay blessed
@abdoulieceesay529 Thank you!
Nice Video Deo. I was traveling with my family on the way to Atlanta, Georgia and I passed by a shop called "K Automotive." It reminded me of you. Nice to see your friends in this video also.
Timothy Horne Thank you! Come visit our shop when you come to Maryland! I would appreciate it!
Excellent video showing both testing and removal of old solenoids and installation of new ones. I just subscribed. Many thanks for your expertise!
@user-pg5ko2bp3h My Pleasure! Thanks
Excellent video. Ours threw a P0013 code, so it looks like I'll be replacing the exhaust actuator.
@daneast the Exhaust Solenoid!!
Great video. The process was well explained.
@user-ju2dy5ee2k Thank you!
One of the best! Very clear and helpful

@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair 💪The one you did for a Range Rover timing chain gave me confidence to start fixing it myself now. In the process I discovered a broken bypass hoses with previously pinched o-rings, reused oil cooler gasket which was flat as a razor leaking oil all over 😂😂😂
I watch your videos like I am in a Mechanic class.
@@fenwickchinkhwangwa1371 I'm glad to hear that the videos have been helpful!
Very well explained using a multi directional scanner to light the bulb.
How to test for voltage at the solenoid valve, if I just have a test light & a DVOM?
I'll be grateful for your reply. Thank you.
@lloyd-qt1mg it might be hard for you to test the solenoid circuit without a capable scanner, you can connect the test light to the solenoid wiring and start the engine and see what happens
I wish you're in my state, I will take the car to you.
My Chevrolet Equinox 2010 had an Engine light on, and when diagnosed, the codes are below:
P0014 Exhaust Camshaft Position System Performance
P0137 HO2S Circuit Low Voltage Sensor 2
The machanic told me If I don't fix, The car will consume more gas.
My questions:
1)If I don't fix them, Will there be any damage to other parts of the car ?
2) How long can I drive before I can afford to fix them?
3) what are the costs to fix those two codes ?
Thanks a bunch
@tienduong3454 I recommend you get your car fixed as soon as possible!
Thank you for this video.

Good night sir I know it's late here in nyc but I need an immediate response like tonight or by 5am in the morning 04/07/25
My 2015 Hyundai sonata sport 2.4l have a check engine light code p0010 I bought and replaced the part with is the camshaft intake actuator solenoid then I cleared the code which shows no code but once I start the car the check engine light came back on. Do I need to change the exhaust solenoid as well?.
I uses the vehicle to work and I haven't worked in three weeks due to no dealer appointment until this evening. Please help!
@user-fx2mz3hr8m Yes! test the other solenoid like I did in the video and see what happens!
Thank you it look very easy but I can’t do it myself

Fantastic video!
@genericwhitemale1114 Thank you!
Will fixing P0014 possibly clear P0017? 08 Acadia drives great but tossing both codes.
@HardTrancid yeah! most likely!
Great job my friend
Martin Boucaud Thank you!
What happened to the poo14 code the camshaft position sensor? That wad part of the problem too, im trying to find a video as to how to remove it its in a bad spot & I cant get this non-so 10mm bolt off😳
@derricklongstreet7849 This took care of it!
22:40 Good man.👍 As soon as you pulled the cover/intake, I said no self-respecting mechanic would let that go regardless if it was related to the problem or not.😁
Wilmar Barrick I didn't understand your statement!
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair the throttle body was staring at you all dirty. A less diligent mechanic would have let it go without cleaning it. A more conscientious mechanic would take a moment to clean it even though it wasn't part of the problem. It was a compliment.

What do you mean when you say, “the old solenoid is open”?
Are you saying it was stuck open and that’s why it was bad?
@kyotodreams3306 yes! the winding in the solenoid were open!
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair oh okay. I have a Chevy Cruze, and have p0011 code. I’ve done everything to fix it. Change oil, changed solenoid 3 times, checked wires but no luck. Thank you
@@kyotodreams3306 did you insttall an OEM Solenoid?
Good work thank you

P0014 code keeps coming back after I replaced both solenoids and the camshaft position sensor. Any advice?
@Bukavok did you install OEM Parts? also check the solenoid wiring!!
Timing chain loose or broke most likely. These measures are great but it's fixing just the symptoms of the main problem. Oil burns way too fast, timing chain guide breaks and causes rough idling, stalling and leakage causing these sensors to take on more oil than they are spec to and call out codes for these parts. I think you should get an oil change for a couple times every 1k miles to check progress. Hopefully it's just tightening tension pulley and realigning timing chain before you blow a rod through the engine. This is the first stage.
hello I have code p0014 on my hyundai accent 2016. the check engine light is on the car consumes lot of fuel and car makes noise. I therefore changed the engine oil and the filters, the noise continues and the engine check is still present. I removed the two solenoides I tested with the multimeter 8.5 ohm each, it is good or not ? . the connectors also 9V each. I noticed that the two solenoide in their middle there is a filter but they are drilled, can the hole still create this anomaly? Thank you for answering me
@touremandjouh9911 My Pleasure! It sounds like your solenoid is bad!
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair thank you

Did changing both fix your issue? The intake and the exhaust? Also did your code throw one or for both
Thank You Sr!!
@auroragomez6980 My Pleasure!
What if you got a p0016 & p0011 together? 2007 Escalade
@himeedajew I recommend you test the vvt solenoids!
I do have a question what are the physical symptoms of any to these solenoids going bad other then the codes you get
@robertorivera4946 bad fuel economy!!
New to change oil on time
Bad fuel economy, burns oil 100% more, oil leakage will sometimes cause the guard holding time chain to break and loose timing chain, car stalls at stop, rough idles, "service stability" and "engine power reduced" errors, engine will end up knocking when too much oil is burnt.
@buddyevans8519 thank you for all the details that was needed💯💪
@@buddyevans8519if your timing chain is loose though from what I understand it will throw P0015 code
Please how does the car behave when you find this fault code
@saanimohammed3815 it depends sometimes just fine!
👍🏻👍🏻

@rickyking-gonzalez393 HAHA Yeah!
What happens if u changed the oil replaced the vvt solenoids with new ones tested the new and old ones the old n new ones clicked, but i still getting the code, ?? Could it be the cam position sensor ? Or some worst I do have a oil catch can
