    I mixed a project with a few songs in february. All songs had a super fast top end from 4kHz onwards. Weiss Dees on, fastest attack, fastest relase, 1000:1 ratio, voila. Smooth highend, while retaining detail. Client even commended that the hi hats are bearable now, lol.

    Found this demo, great stuff David. I'm doing a Weiss De-esser demo now, and with this info you provided here, it looks promising. That tweak panel is pretty hidden.
    Two bands of de-essing, has Master preset of some sort. Looks like it's still a top plug-in.

    Wondering if you think FabFilter Pro-MB can achieve similar good results, since
    de-essers are a form of multi-band compression.

    • @mixbustv
      @mixbustv  2 роки тому

      Just look at the controls. We are talking about extremely precise tools (this is what mastering really is), with a crazy amount of control over the finest detail. Pro-Mb is an blunt axe vs a laser scalpel (Weiss)

    Don't you ever get afraid that maybe there is too much control in your hands and you end up in with a big mess using everything too much just because it's there to use? it's human nature to try out everthing, but we are not build for 1001 options. This is maybe too much philosophical but I think about it a lot ... There is so much stuff now to use and it's easy to overdo ti or doing it in a way that is not giving top resoults. I now you have "the system" that you build it from many years of trial and error but for an average Joe this must be a nightmare. There is not much time passed using one thing, we are already to some new thing, and the resoult is not what it could be if we sticked to one thing long enough and mastered it. I don't now maybe I'm wrong, but I watch your videos and there is so much tools and combinations it's just crazy. It's more like a lottery for most people to do it right, having so much power at their disposal.
