- Eurowings Airbus A319 flight preparation in the crew room and full approach to runway 22 at Larnaca International Airport (LCA/LCLK). Cockpit, pilots, charts, and sidestick views. With briefing. Filmed in 4k quality. Produced with 6 cameras. With original ATC (air traffic control) and cockpit audio. ATC callsign is Eurowings 7B (Eurowings Seven Bravo). Commercial flight number (which is printed in the tickets) is EW 9902. Airplane registration is D-AGWC. Departure airport is DUS (Duesseldorf), Germany. Captain is pilot flying and First Officer pilot monitoring.
This video shows the very special ATC procedures when flying through Cyprus airspace: You have to talk to Nicosia control and to Ercan control in parallel.

The fact that your company allows to post these videos and is relaxed about it, is (at least for me) an advertisment to fly Eurowings! I visit Cyprus often, so I hope to hear that you are the captain on my flight some day...
after Flight 9525 they need all the good publicity they can get.
@@pas7680 I highly doubt this is still in most people's mind.
You are mixing up Eurowings and Germanwings. The flight you are talking about was operated by Germanwings. It is a different company.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideoswhats the story of this flight
Great to have the pre-flight briefing. This channel is becoming more of a flight experience rather than just seeing some flying, which is awesome! Beautiful sunset. Many thanks Captain!
Thanks for watching, your great feedback and your important support of the channel as a member! Have a nice day!
Absolutely right !
Yes it's really awesome to actually see my own suggestion implemented in a video 😅
Captains. I am in AWE of you pilots. In addition to flying the plane you have to be mathematicians, meteorologists, physicists, mechanical engineers, linguists and so on. How do so many pilots actually become qualified?? I find this content so very interesting. Thank you for sharing with us ordinary mortals! 👍
Thanks a lot for your very kind words! Becoming an airline pilot requires certain skills and a good amount of training. After the pilot has the license, the airlines do additional checks to find out if the pilot is qualified for the airline. To keep the standards high, all airline pilots are continuously trained and tested until their retirement. Have a nice day!
thanks not only to you but also to Eurowings forallowing you to film this!
Thanks for your good feedback!
Absolutely fantastic! Love the addition of the briefing! This channel would be superb for those nervous of flying, I have to imagine it would be very reassuring to see how much work and planning goes on behind the scenes.
In my opinion you’ve managed to resolve the sound issues very quickly, perfectly clear. Beautiful views as always, looked like a wonderful day to fly, yet another great video.
I mentioned in my comment on your last video that I had a flight sim session coming up, well I had it. The A320 was very different from the 737, so much more enjoyable not having to worry about the trim. I appreciate that’s something you’d get used to as a real pilot, but when you only have an hour in the sim it’s a challenge I found overly difficult. No such issues with the Airbus. The Instructor kept me on my toes by throwing in an APU fire after departure, then a birdstrike and number 1 engine failure as I returned. We had a discussion about whether a Mayday or Pan-Pan was more appropriate, I had given a pan-pan prior to the birdstrike as the APU fire had been extinguished and the “aircraft” was otherwise working, would be interested to know what a real life Captain would think of that. We finished off with a visual approach to LAX, a wonderful experience.
As always, dankeschön aus Schottland
🇩🇪🛫🌍🛬🇨🇾👨🏻✈️
Thanks for your great feedback and for sharing your experience! The captain is responsible and finally has to decide if a situation requires a Mayday or Pan call. Mayday means immediate threat to passengers, crew or airplane and after the call, the crew can do whatever they deem necessary to get safely on the ground. Rules and regulations, checklists …. are optional after the call. Before, the crew has to follow the procedures. Mayday also gives the crew the possibility of an off airport landing or a landing at a closed airport. A Mayday airplane gets priority handling by ATC and everyone else. Pan Pan is just an urgency call. Some situations are easy to decide: A fire onboard for example is always an emergency situation. An engine flameout may be no emergency situation because the plane also flies with one engine. The surrounding circumstances, like required deviation from routing may require a Mayday call. A double engine flameout for sure requires a Mayday call.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos thank you Captain, I very much appreciate you taking the time to provide a detailed response!
Bitte allen luftfahrtinteressierten Menschen vom Kanal berichten!
Good morning Gentlemen, I hope you are both well.
Your videos are now so much more than they were to begin with, they have evolved, and continue to do so in many ways opening the world of the Pilots for us. From the perspective of the Passenger we had no idea of the planning, thought's, briefings etc. that go on in that secret cabin up front so these videos are not only interesting but informative and also very reassuring. I look forward to seeing more in the future, keep them coming!
Thank you.
Thank you so much for watching, for your great and helpful feedback and for your important financial support of the channel as a member! Whenever possible, I will try to include more information in future videos. Have a nice day!

Good evening Captain Stefan Sir. Loved the pre-flight briefing. Great to see all the behind the scenes stuff. Like opening the lid on a box and finding all sorts of previously unknown treasures inside. Interesting approach and I loved the comment on the "bumpy runway" . I'd love to see that on a very windy day. 😉 Blessings to you both on your future flights.

Wow just wow love the pre flight footage in the staff roo that was different and it's great that the company allow you to do that for us👏lovely views coming into larnaca and seemed a strange approach to me but then I'm nit a pilot😂i dont like to be negative but the only thing for me that spoils the watching experience is hearing the radio chat when trying to listen to you and the second officer talking to each other it's hard to hear what you are saying over the radio talk, great job though guy's 🙂👍
Thanks for your feedback! The audio you hear in the video is the original audio from the cockpit. It is always a mixture between ATC audio and the cockpit interphone. I will try to improve the quality of the audio of the crew communication in the future. Please stay tuned!

Very great video, espacially that you included the preflight briefing! I follow your channel for quite a while and its fantastic to see how you keep improving your videos to provide us with such marvellous content. If there's is any chance I'd love if you could also include the FlySmart calculations for Takeoff/Landing.
Frohe Pfingsten und happy landings!
Thanks for sharing your valuable feedback and for being a long time subscriber and supporting channel member! I completely agree that showing all the details of the FlySmart calculations would be a great add on to the videos. Right now, I cannot do it because until now I was not able to get a permission from Navblue, the software manufacturer, to do so. It is not 100 % sure if a permission is really needed. Maybe it is possible to do it without. I have to check the legal situation. If you or somebody else has a legal advice, I would be more than happy to hear about it.
Ich wünsche auch Frohe Pfingsten!
The wait was worth it! Thanks!
Thanks for your good feedback!
Every week, your Videos are getting better and better. Love this Kind of Videos. Great Pilot and Videos. Keep it up. Nice Day:)
Thanks a lot!
How funny, I had just finished doing a flight to Larnaca on MSFS using this exact approach, then hit youtube and this is the first video I see. Cool to see how to do it properly. Another great video Captain! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your great feedback! wish you lots of fun with your simulator!
Another great video. I continue to be amazed how you read back ATC's (often complex) instructions accurately - without making any pencilled notes; how long does it take to master this during training?
When reading the Approach checklist, what does "Bravo 210" mean for the 'Minimum' item? And, @39.25, you requested something "...when available", what was that?
Thanks for watching and your financial support of the channel as a member! We learn to do accurate ATC readbacks especially during the instrument flight training. As a new pilot, it is sometimes challenging, especially when flying the first time into another country. The slang is always a little different. To make the readbacks easy, we try to dial in all the instructions as soon as possible. Then the pilot monitoring can readback the values which had beed set by the pilot flying. We also use the MCDU keyboard for short term notices. I said „Baro 210“. This was the decision altitude for the approach. At 39:25, I said „VLS check when available“.
Love your Videos! Still a nice landing with a bit of tailwind at the end. 👍🏼
Thanks for sharing your great feedback!
Interesting approach!
Thanks!

Hii, I have been watching your videos for a while now and they’re amazing! Please can you explain a little about descent energy management, and profile calculations during your next approach video. It would be very helpful. Once again, thank you for this wonderful experience.
Fab video
Thank you!
This is definitely my favourite aviation channel on youtube; another excellent video! 45:48 How do you know when the ground crew are trying to call you?
Thanks! Good question: They can press a call button and we will hear a chime. Usually, we hear that he or she is connecting herself to the airplane at the moment the headset from the ground crew is plugged into the airplane. As soon as it is plugged in, he or she can talk with us.
Have you ever heard about glasses with a built in camera ?
Personally speaking I think that these would be a huge benefit for the channel as they would allow us to see your POV without blocking your view.
Nevertheless thank you very much for the Videos as they keep motivating all of us :)
Thanks for your suggestion! I thought alreay about doing something like this. Once I made a video of a small single engine airplane approach with the camera mounted to my head.
Thank you for taking us into the cockpit with you. As an outsider, it is really very interesting to find out what happens in the cockpit during the various maneuvers such as take-off, approach cruise, descent, etc. Everything has to be done and how the coordination between you and ATC works.
I am experienced in flying myself, but "only" in glider plane. I fly the A320neo in the Microsoft flight simulator 2020 and I learn a lot from your videos.
More of this please. Thank you, Stefan.
Best regards and maybe we'll meet on a flight to Fuerteventura, my favorite holiday destination.
Hendrik
Hendrik,
thank you very much for sharing your good feedback and your very personal flying experiences! Glider pilots are great pilots! If they become professional pilots and start flying Airbus or similar airplanes, they are always perfect in energy management.
I hope to have you soon onboard!

Tolles Video! Gerne wieder/mehr inkl. Briefing im Crewraum
Danke für das hilfreiche Feedback!
Thanks of the Video! Awesome flight and great teamwork! Can somebody explain to me what is done during the VLS Check and why most of the time there are added about 2 or 3 knots? Thanks!
Great you took the courage to even include scenes from the briefing room. Although this means additional workload and stress for you, as you turn to be actors as well by that. 😅 But it pays out. Many thanks for your efforts again.
Thanks for your friendly feedback! Have a nice day!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos And you!
Great video. A question… why such high MSA on the approach plate when the procedure is over water? Thank you for this great content.
Thanks for watching and your good feedback! I do not know about the reason for the high MSA. Usually it is 1000 feet above the highest obstacle in the quadrant.
Hi Stefan, loved the full flight to BHX, will there be a departure video from there?
Yes. There will be a video of the departure from BHX in the near future! Please stay tuned!
Why did you choose to remain on APU and not to take the GPU? It saves some fuel, doesn’t it?
I do not remember exactly. Maybe we needed the APU anyhow for airconditioning due to the temperatures. The turnaround was short and we have to make sure that the temperature in the cabin is ok.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideosok thanks for your answer
Great video sir! I really enjoyed seeing all the procedures (currently a flight student. Could you explain why you kept the APU running instead of connecting to th GPU on ground, doesnt that mean extra fuel consumption?'
Have a wonderful weekend and always happy landings!
Thanks! I do not remember exactly. But you need to keep in mind that the APU also provides air for the airconditioning of the cabin. It was warm and we had a short turnaround. Also, some airports charge a good amount of money for the use of the GPU. Even if it is just for a few minutes.
Great video! Quick question. What were the fix infos used for this flight?
It is all in the video. From 11:39 the radial fix info pages are shown.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos sorry i meant what were they used for?
I do not remember. I have to watch the video to find out. Usually, we use them for the MSA sectors or to mark other important things, like areas for visual approaches or engine out procedures.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos don't worry you don't have to. I will try and find out myself :)
I look forward to these posts every weekend. I didn't know you get set how much fuel you need in the cockpit. Is this true captain? I'm not sure if I heard correctly. If so does that display somewhere so that the person loading the fuels knows?
It depends on the airplane. All A320 family airplanes have an outside refueling panel. We set the fuel amount we need at this panel and the refueling truck will deliver until the plane closes the refueling valves. Some of our airplanes also have a small refueling panel in the cockpit. We can use this also to set the fuel amount required. This panel has limited functionality in comparison to the outside panel. But it is good enough for normal refueling operations.
Great video! I’m interested to know why you took the extra fuel? Thanks! 😊
Thanks for watching and your good feedback! I suggest that you listen to our briefing. This is the original briefing from the flight.
Hello from SIN/WSSS!
Greetings to Singapore!
Hi, how can you set the Fuel in the cockpit? Is there a second fuel panel like on the outside?
Good question! You can buy the Airbus with an additional „fuel panel“ at the overhead panel in the cockpit. Some planes which we fly have this option installed. This means, that we can set the fuel amount in the cockpit or at the outside refueling panel.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Thanks for the answer:) I did not know that until now!
at the top of desend , if you set the FL270,and you donot push the altitude buton ,it will DES by itself (auto)?
No, it will not descent by itself.
Boeing well do not Airbus
Interesting about the GPS spoofing going on, have you experienced this at all? What do you do, fall back to VOR/DME and inertial references?
I was going to post about this what’s the cause ? Military jamming / ECM ?
Thanks for your question. The airspace at and near Cyprus is known since a long time for GPS receiving problems. I do not know what exactly is causing it. Without GPS, we fall back to our 3 inertial reference systems which are doing position updates via VOR/DME. If the IRS systems would fail, we still could navigate by VOR/DME ... During the approach in the video, we had a very short GPS accuracy reduction which resulted in an ADS-B out signal stop. It came back after a few moments. At 40:30 we had a GPS primary loss on our system 1. It came back at 41:29. You can see this in the lower part of the navigation display. This was not problem, because we were flying an ILS approach and we even had the runway in sight.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Thanks for the info. I knew it's not a big problem and there are many workarounds, I'm kind've curious about the political implications, Cypriot government can't be all that happy!
if you ever fly to oslo please upload it 😁
Yes, I will do so!
Hey, a short question from my side about the displayed speed of the aircraft:
While flying on 37.000 feet the left monitor shows an speed of round about 250 knots, but on the right on an TAS of 430 knots is shown.
Could someone explain what I don’t get here correct? 😅
You got everything correct. The TAS is the True Airspeed. The other speed is the Indicated Airspeed (IAS).
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos And what is the difference between the TAS and the IAS? Because a difference of 180 knots can’t be the tailwind in this case.😅
True Airspeed is like the name says the real speed of the airplane. Groundspeed is the speed above the grond. If we fly with a true airspeed of 450 knots and have a tailwind of 100 knots, the true airspeed would be still 450 knots, but the groundspeed would be 550 knots. The speed at the speed indicator is the indicated airspeed. This speed indication changes with altitude and temperature. As you see in the video, the higher we fly, the lower is the indicated aispeed in comparison to the true airspeed.
Hello, can you please film a landing in Preveza/Lefkada
As soon as I am scheduled again to Preveza, I will do so.
Oke,thank you very much!
Ist normal for you captain if the gps has lost
Did you experience any GPS spoofing/jamming?
2 times. Last was shortly before landing. But it did not matter because we flew the ILS approach.
Warum den Approach nicht manuell geflogen? Die Kurven in 3000 Fuß sollten doch Spaß machen?! Oder dürfen Sie das da nicht?
Gute Frage!
@37:10 - I found it interesting that the callout from the computer was "twentyfive-hundred" instead of "two-thousand five-hundred". Is that an Airbus A319-thing? I only every hear them calling two-thousand five-hundred" on the A32x.
I assume it depends on the installed software. There are also different versions of the MCDU out there (Honeywell vs Thales) for example that differ in some details.
It all depends on the installed software and hardware combination. Some things may also be setup by maintenance.
Danke!
Viel Spaß und einen guten Flug!
when are you coming back to daytona FL?
My home is in the Daytona area. I am every month for a while in the area. This is also the location where I do the postproduction of the videos.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos do you still fly the Mooney?
@@obalobastic Yes.

I'm legally blind. A great video idea, have a blind guy come land a commercial airliner with you. " So easy. A blind man can do it".
Thanks for sharing your feedback! I am sorry about your health situation. EASA requires 0.7 for each eye and 1.0 for both together to get the required class 1 medical certificate . This may be achieved with glasses. A good vision is one important key for a safe flight operation. Sure, the gear and flaps lever and the other knobs are easy to find without a good or with no vision. But obstacles, other airplanes, airport signs, charts ….. are also very important things which we have to see.
There used to be so much action out of Düsseldorf. There used to be Lufthansa flights in to the USA out of there. Darn Spohr changed too much to his personal liking, just like moving too many flights to Munich. This guy needs to be replaced. He is having everyone fly into Munich , which means flying one hour from Düsseldorf to Munich, 1,5 hours layover at least and flying back via Düsseldorf another 1 hour to fly to the US. The flight is long enough and this useless detour adds another 3,5 hours to the flight. And here they talk about climat change! Anyway, I enjoy watching you Senior and Co. Pilot.
Thanks for watching and your feedback! I also would love to see flights from DUS to the USA and back. A while ago, there was the possibility to fly to 5 different destinations alone in Florida. Now, there are no flights to the US remaining. This is very sad.
ICAO = NOTAM = Notice to Airmen
FAA = NOTAM = Notice to Air Missions

Thanks for the clarification! I did not know that just the FAA has changed the wording. I assumed that it was done ICAO wide. I have both, an US-ATP and an EASA-ATP with Airbus A320 ratings. That means, when I use my EASA ATP, I have to call it Notices to Airmen. When using the FAA-ATP, I have to call the same thing Notices to Air Missions.
Gibt doch eigentlich schon genug Cockpitvideos in Englisch.
