In unofficial servers there are a lot of Herbie's, in fact, if u don't have a massive carni pack is almost impossible for u to hunt a pack of Herbie's on hot spots, but on certain zones there are players that doesn't play with their entire family and u can hunt so it's not that bad, u can still play solo perfectly
I enjoy playing on Petits myself. Though sometimes the massive herds of herbivores get annoying since there's too many and the carnivores don't bother even trying. Honestly in this case, I was hoping to run into a pack of carnos once I reached full grown. I wanted to see how chaotic the fight would be. Unfortunately for me, I got a pack of ceratos instead haha
@@dinometta ye I play on petits as well and I try to check for eggs so I can get a pack easily and then be able to hunt something cuz yeah, they don't risk too much, once I had a family of troodons on the canyon and from the 20 of us, just 3 and me were attacking the dibles that were coming through, anyways it depends, usually on unofficial ppl play like an rpg, kinda like Path of Titans xD
So I don't know if you know this, but in the latest patch you can force a patrol zone to spawn. if you find a patrol zone you like (I like the dibble one at swamps) you can sit JUST outside of the area it used to be when it moves, and it will re-roll your preferred PZ every ten seconds or so. I tested this out on officials last night, and you can sit outside the zone for about 10 mins(feels like a long time but in Isle minutes that's nothing) and there will be a very good chance of it re-moving back to the area you are next to. if it doesn't work after that ten mins, move back further (you're probably still inside the old zone) and try again. I coasted to full grown in just under three hours (after having a particularly foodless adolescence). hope this helps!
I didn't know that it would reroll! I got one in swamp that I hated as teno(because melons) and I had to run to south and relog entirely to get that dang patrol to finally change!
@@dinometta I noticed it while playing with my buddy, if one of you can smell diets but the other can't, it's a minor desync, after about five minutes their PZ will change and yours will move to where they are, and that's when I forced the re=roll by sitting outside the zone (I found the edge with his help) I am thinking another way to do it is to travel around the edge of the old PZ in a zigzag fashion, forcing the game to acknowledge you are in one and then out of one so reroll to tell you where the closest one is every time you pop out of it again, but I haven't tried that method yet. so far, time and distance work best. here's to hoping the devs fix migrations!!!

@@dinometta If the moderators left their PC long enough to turn on a nature documentary they would see herbivores acting more aggressive than the carnivores when they have mates and babies around.
@@tentardigrades968 yep, many servers labeling themselves as “semi realism” will only allow herbivores to fight if the carnivore attacks first, meaning you are literally just forced to watch a pack of raptors get themselves ready and organized to 5v1 you. Many of these servers also make it so herbivores cant even kill the attacking carnivores if the carnivore runs away or 4 calls. You also cant continue fighting the carnivores if they kill one of your group mates, so for example if you are defending your hatchlings and the carnivores kill one, you are forced to just walk away and they can follow you until theyre hungry again. Most carnivores are also faster than most herbivores, a pack of carnivores will keep on your ass because they can just follow your tracks while moving. Additionally, it is even against the rules for carnivores to get attacked by other carnivores if they are sitting next to a body
It was fun watching. You should be given an award for surviving so many challenges. It was nice of the dibble babies to reciprocate when you were under attack and I was glad your pachy friend survived. Sorry for the outcome at the end, but I know there will be new adventures 😀
My first video of yours. I really like this style of game. Nice to see some herbivore action. Nice voice for a content creator. Good game play and well narrated. I think I'll check out some more of your videos. Good job, have a subscription.
From my experience, a lot of herbivore are playing early in the day, to avoid the lag & unnecessary fights whilst they grow. I've encountered herds of pachys, stegos, dibbles, gallis and many more that I would normally not see at night. Last weekend when I was playing Deino at the Highlands Lake I've seen a herd of 9 Tenos, which I haven't seen in a looooong time, after the release of Dibble During evenings I'm also responsible for the diminishing herbivore population cause I would play Solo Herra and chill in groups of 7-8 at South Plains. Also use comms when playing Deino, Carnos & Ceras
See that's interesting, I usually play during those earlier hours myself. That's when my kids are at school so I have more freedom with my schedule during that time. I must just end up far from where most of them hang out or something!

It takes a bit of doing to learn where people generally hang out. Once you know the map it's easier. Lately West Rail, West access, and delta rivers have been the best areas to find people(tenos especially in delta)
This was the most exciting video of Isle I have seen in a long time! :D I have basically abandoned Isle for Path of Titans, but you explaining and showing it like this makes it look much more fun than I thought. I'll have to check your other videos too.

not many youtubers draw me in with the story's and footage. But dang i had to put my phone away to continue watching this and i don't regret it. I loved this so much no boring stuff at all kept me drawn in
I honestly love patrols for this. All the food spawns in a very small area and when you're solo you can hang out there for a good long time. I've always enjoyed claiming a little stomping ground territory, so it suits my solo mindset very nicely!
I feel like there's just an inherit imbalance between predators and herbivores. When you are a predator, you are rewarded for fighting with a meal. When you are a herbivore, you are punished for fighting by only receiving losses.
I think it should be a negative for predators and herbivores. IRL fighting is almost always something pretty much all animals will avoid, so long as they have other options, since any fighting can prove to be easily fatal, or at least significantly debilitating.
Loved the vid, damn right I'am subing!!! That was great! That Pachy was a diamond can't wait to see what else you get up to. Have fun and I'll have fun watching! Er... You know what I mean, LOL!
Path of Titans, Beast of Bermuda and other dinosaur sim and survival games have the same problem. The majority of players want to pick carnivores due to their popularity and attractiveness while herbivore players are a minority on the servers regardless of how large the herbivore roster is or what abilities they are given. But I don't think there is a fix for this problem because players want to choose their playables freely. However, some private server hosts sometimes organize events on their private servers to boost the use of herbivores in Path of Titan. And sometimes they are fun, like for example mass migration events, where they travel as a large herd of herbivores from one end of the map to the other and try to survive the attacks of carnivores.
Because you will be spawn killed as soon as you you choose it, there are Rexes and Raptors everywhere, and there is hardly a tutorial to help you understand how to even play. I remember spawning as a Triceratops. Tyrannosaurus Rex player was spawn camping, to kill/eat new players. So I dashed into a lake so I could drown myself, denying them the kill/meal, because screw him.
The greatest appeal of playing herbs in older Dino sims was the fact food was easy to find, The Isle basically shot this dead with the diet system which was a TERRIBLE idea...
Honestly the food isn't usually too hard as a herbivore. Diets are a pain, but the food itself is plentiful. I await the diet system overhaul with bated breath
I can't believe I watched a 25 min documentary on the life of a growing herbivore dinosaur and enjoyed every second. I didn't know this game, look interesting, thank you for the video!
Herbivore gameplay really can be incredibly rewarding. I definitely prefer duo or solo though, rather than large herds! It does suck sometimes though, when you get completely outnumbered and all you can really do is find an out to flee!
I've always debated playing the game over the years, since it became available. But then I heard about many bugs and intense lag and an over population of carnivores vs herbivores. The balance of the game had me consider my options but I still would love to try and play after watching your gameplay. :))
Thank you for showing us some Herbivore game play. It sort of sucks the carnivore players have made it so herbivores are so distrustful of other players they don't form herds, which is a better way for survival. Do anyone form herds at all? How effective are they?
@@meikahidenori They usually do! I've run into teno herds 8 strong before, it just depends on where they are and where you are. I've seen quite a few in Delta recently. Depending on the players, a herd works incredibly well for defense. Sometimes though, they can be more dangerous than helpful. The wrong players end up accidentally kicking and slamming each other instead of the carnivores

Never heard of this game but you've made me intrigued with this video, I imagine I would both thoroughly enjoy and loath playing this but no less interested. "Why are there so few herbivore players in The Isle?" Players want to the power trip of being the "apex predator biggest hunter alpha graahhhh" simple.
@@trik6979 Indeed. That and honestly, there's not much for herbivore players to do. Migrations have been broken, so much of life is spent desperately seeking diets in obscure corners of the map. No one finds each other, so the only other thing herbivores do, nesting, doesn't happen. So they wander around, alone and bored, until either they go crazy and get aggressive or they get spotted by a large group of ceratos and die. Herbivores simply need more objectives and fun things to do as wandering around peacefully grazing gets boring very quickly

Honourable mention to flying at night as a pteranodon back when night was absolutely pitch black and the night vision range meant I couldn't see the ground to know my altitude, and might not see trees or cliffs until it was too late to react.

I am considering this game and would prefer to play herbivore. People actually do that? What the HELL?!

From my experience, a lot of herbivore are playing early in the day, to avoid the lag & unnecessary fights whilst they grow. I've encountered herds of pachys, stegos, dibbles, gallis and many more that I would normally not see at night. Last weekend when I was playing Deino at the Highlands Lake I've seen a herd of 9 Tenos, which I haven't seen in a looooong time, after the release of Dibble
During evenings I'm also responsible for the diminishing herbivore population cause I would play Solo Herra and chill in groups of 7-8 at South Plains. Also use comms when playing Deino, Carnos & Ceras
See that's interesting, I usually play during those earlier hours myself. That's when my kids are at school so I have more freedom with my schedule during that time. I must just end up far from where most of them hang out or something!

I feel like there's just an inherit imbalance between predators and herbivores. When you are a predator, you are rewarded for fighting with a meal. When you are a herbivore, you are punished for fighting by only receiving losses.
It's true. The only benefit you get from fighting as a herbivore is not dying
I think it should be a negative for predators and herbivores. IRL fighting is almost always something pretty much all animals will avoid, so long as they have other options, since any fighting can prove to be easily fatal, or at least significantly debilitating.

Heck yeah! Thanks for the sub! I love wholesome moments with random players in the game, makes it so worthwhile!
Yeah this seems to be a universal issue. I think the biggest thing is just that herbivore life has less action overall
There's a lot less spawn camping on evrima now that randomized spawns are there, but baby herbivores are definitely heavily targeted all the same

"Why are there so few herbivore players in The Isle?"
Players want to the power trip of being the "apex predator biggest hunter alpha graahhhh" simple.
@@trik6979 Indeed. That and honestly, there's not much for herbivore players to do. Migrations have been broken, so much of life is spent desperately seeking diets in obscure corners of the map. So they wander around, alone and bored, until either they go crazy and get aggressive or they get spotted by a large group of ceratos and die.
