    Hey Eric, you know your videos have been my inspiration. You know at first I was shaving every 2-4 days but after watching your videos I got to thinking that hey! If I let it grow out a little more what will my bosses say? (I work at 2 different Marriott hotels around S.F.) you know what? Nobody has said a word to me. I figure if it doesn't affect my work why should I cut it? I've been growing it for about 4 months and whooo this thing is full!!! Just last week I was approached by a guest ( whom was beardless ) while my GM was at the front desk w/ me. The guest looked at me then my beard then asked my GM why don't you have your employee cut that "thing" off his face? My GM asked him well, how was your interactions with him (me) the guest said, fine. So my GM then said okay then, you know it's not the beard that makes the man but the man who makes the beard. He's been my best front desk agent I've ever had and if him having a beard makes him happy and then I'm all for it.
    Needless to say I was smiling ear to ear and it's all thanks to you brother! Beard on!

    Just like there are different styles of beards, there are different styles of haircuts. A shorter, more groomed beard will be more acceptable than a longer unkept beard - just like certain haircuts are more acceptable than others. That being said, if you can pull off the long hair look along with a big beard, go for it.
    If you bring style into your appearance, there is a lot you can pull off in terms of hair/beard combo.

    I completely concur in regards to wearing proper clothing. Buying customs shirts and suits is not nearly as expensive as in the past. Customers and supervisors really do notice what you are wearing every day. The beard, much like eye color, is something noticed only maybe the first or second encounter. After that, the color of your eyes or the hair on your face is just who you are. Clothing, people notice every day.

    I couldn't agree with you more, great video! I think there is a level of respect you get from people when they see a man with a beard and haircut that is maintained, then adding on a great individual style of fashion rocks.

    Matt I think you nailed it. And when I say, "get a haircut" I don't necessarily mean it needs to be a short hair cut. You just need to be conscious about your style and what it means. There are lots of longer hair styles that work well with beards. Beard on brother!

    We should all band together and petition the government for laws preventing employers from enforcing appearence laws that have no good reason to exist. Unless it is a legitimate safety concern (exe. Beard disrupting respirator seals, or hairs getting into restaraunt food), your boss has no right controlling the growth of hair on your face, or anything outside of requiring a uniform garment for that matter.

    Great video man. It's a matter of luck that the person hiring you accepts you for who you are. Most of them don't, which is really shitty. It also varies from places to places worldwide. In my country, most people are still conversative, so for us beardsman or long haired guys, we're screwed for the most part. I'd say this is only gonna have a radical change in a few decades when all older people die or are retired at least. I still don't have a job, but when I try to get one, I'm affraid I won't find anything that allows me to be myself.

    • @Beardbrand
      @Beardbrand  9 років тому +3

      ***** It's funny, when old people die, other people simply become old. Unfortunately, hatred and narrow minded ideas affect people of all generations. The goal is those percentages decrease over time. All we can do is show them what it means to wear a beard in the community and try to change their mind through good actions.

    Eric Bandholz I so agree with this. However I think society needs to get with the times. I don't understand how having a beard should disqualify a man from anything, especially having a job. Unfortunately it sometimes seems this way. A while back I had a nice 3 inch or so beard and a job forced me to shave. Eventually I got tired of shaving as well as the other non sense that went a long with this job and I quit. I now am growing out my beard again. Also I am currently in grad school so that I can land my dream job of being a therapist. However I know for a fact that I will never shave my face again, and especially not for a job. As you said "life is to short."

    • @Beardbrand
      @Beardbrand  10 років тому +1

      Society is simply a group of individuals. We can only change society one person at a time and it starts with those closest to us. It's happening gradually; but by the time I die; I suspect the bearded lifestyle with be much more accepted.

    • @JM12044
      @JM12044 10 років тому

      Beardbrand Well what's interesting is that when you look at pictures from the olden days, very few men were clean shaved, and they had access to barbers and razors but chose to have beards and mustaches. It really wasn't until the 1950's or so when having facial hair was associated with being radical because of the beatniks and hippies and what not. I just think people should be able to live their lives.

    I love this video! Got some woodsman beard oil in the mail today and I absolutely love it already. I'm a month into my first yeard journey- and I have a feeling it's going to be a fun one. I have always felt more comfortable and confident with facial hair, and I have a feeling deep down that a full beard will be the ultimate realization of that feeling- I have never let it all grow more than 1 month; usually I opt for sideburns and a goatee at that point.

    Hey there dude, I just wanted to take a moment to say your an inspiration, if i could have 1/2 of your self confidence well, id be a half decent man, as of today the beard begins, will be following your advice and hope to have something worthy of showing you at some not to distant point in time, as you say "beard on!".

    Be yourself! I am bearded and Christain. We are not to conform to the world, but to be a shining light. Anyone that attacks the beard and wants you to shame, well that is there problem. Your deeds and actions should stand out as your character. If anyone can't see pass the beard, and judges you have more problems than surface ones.

    I dig this and agree 100% with what you say here. Lucky I work in an industry where a beard is a big plus. I am lucky enough to work in the craft beer industry and I love what I do.

      Christopher Jacobs Craft beer and beards seem to go hand and hand. I know so many in the industry with killer beards. It's almost a detriment if you don't have a beard.

    I'm in your same position, man. At one point, I really just accepted to be different. Let people judge who you are based on your beard or the way you look. If the members of your church do that, they are going against one of the very things they stand for. Be you, like he said, life it too short.

    Jesus had a freaking beard man, you must be trolling. However on the chance you are not, try this....
    Buy a t-shirt with jesus face on it and put a comment on the shirt underneath like "May the grace of god be with you and my beard" or "Jesus my brother in faith and facial hair".
    Let them hate then.

    I'm a graphic designer and have been growing out my beard for almost 4 months now. It pretty awesome right now, but one day I hope to get to your status. Thankfully, having a beard (or some other "weird" thing) as a graphic designer is usually expected so I get no comments.

    Whats's up Eric? Just wanted you to know all your videos and beardbrand products are epic, man. I was unconvinced about growing my beard past a two week deal and came across beardbrand. Now I'm gonna go for a yeard (thought at 20, it won't be as epic as yours dude). Thanks.... and beard on

    why should you feel awkward? From what I know, clean shaven is not part of Christianity. Unless there somewhere in Christian faith, stated you must be clean shaven...only then you should feel awkward.

    you sound slightly like a cross between Yoda and a character from the Muppets, in a good way. I have to wonder if that is you talking through your beard and it becoming distorted. Great video, nice strut

    Bro, hire me. I'd contribute a huge part in your company if I was given a chance with whatever it would be.. I work in sales and understand immensely the whole business aspect of starting a company and what it takes to keep one going which comes with teamwork and everyone participating to make a goal happen. I believe the opinions of our workers matter and should be brought to attention to better our company. Ideas are everything and to have a boss who understands that is everything. It really makes what you do enjoyable.. Basically back to what you were saying about our beards. It's who we are. Thank you for these videos!

    I'm lucky enough to have a customer facing job, yet sporting a full beard. My manager openly told me he personally didnt like it it, but as long as i kept smart, he had no problems with me growing it longer.

    Hey man love the videos! I'm all in on a four month beard. While it's not the fullest or thickest its mine and I love it. Its been known to be scraggly or thin or whatever you wanna call it. Better with age. I've been growing my hair out the past two years to donate too .And work's been cool with that. Do you think I could probably get away with a yeard or more? I work at a body shop in the paint dept. Wearing a full face mask that I had to wear if I were to have facial hair.

    It’s a Shame when jobs dictate what you could do with your body. In regards to growing a 🧔 beard. It’s like telling what a woman can do with her body and they make a big thing about it. It should be the same with men. Having to cut there beard because of your job !

    I would probably shave before the interview and steadily grow the beard while settling into the job. Not go full hulk and grow it in the quickest time possible, but start it out as groomed stubble, grow it steadily, grow a goatee on top of it, grow it out and then start growing out the full beard

    It's a shame that modern Western society has shunned beards. Thankfully, I sense a more accepting trend happening.
