Beards are normal.

- Growing a beard is natural, but not socially accepted. It is ridiculous, and people should be aware of what it is making us do. We have them naturally and the only reason that we cut them off seems to be tradition and an image. Who make up this image anyhow?
We don't shave our heads, and no one asks us if we miss our bald head. People are still in shock to find that a man will grow a beard. No one ask why we shave so much, but they do ask why we don't shave.
I also believe that there may be more function to the hair on our heads than we give it credit for. We are mimicking boys.
27 years bearded, 43 moustached, and not one moment of regret. This is the real me. Great words buddy.
Revisited this again and I love what you're saying even more!
I feel Good fathers good and wise men are the ones that keep their beards, you must own the beard, not everyman deserves it.
I often wonder WHY society wants us clean shaven...WHY do most women demand there man to be clean shaven? Do they not want a man? Its like you said...people want "boys" or the image of boys. Maybe it's the image of youth that they're after and beards make us look older...and that turns off some women. I feel the same as you. I feel that there is a time to be clean shaven...but it's natural for men to have facial hair...why are we fighting nature? If you have the ability to grow it out...DO IT. If you find a woman who tells you they'll only date you if you shave...then they're not in love with YOU they're trying to conform you to this image that they want you to be. (which happens to be a boyish image for most girls) i dunno why. I think it's one sign of manhood to have a beard of some sort. Though there are other signs but this one is a very public evident one...you understand. Thank you for the video and motivation. I've got 3 months on my beard...and i'm not touching it. :D
Why are we fighting nature? Yeah Josh, try not to fight showering after a long haul. Come to think of it, we are all born naked. Don't fight it, Josh.
Uh you totally missed what I said. Showering is very natural and so is clothing oneself...I don't know why people are so hostile towards me for wanting to grow it out. If you don't want to or can't that's fine. Not making you do it too
Actually Josh, you totally missed the point. People shower the way they do because of society. I should have been more specific. Shower without soaps or shampoos of any kind. Use nothing to mask the natural smell of being a human.
Seriously though, saying people are being hostile toward you only shows that you're being defensive about it. I didn't mean to be perceived as hostile so if you took it that way, my apologies to you.
What I don't like is when bearded people, such as Mike, pit their fellow man against one another. It's utter BS to say things like people who shave are controlled, or, people who shave are boyish. That's total BS and gives me the impression that they have some insecurity issues that are unresolved, and growing facial hair isn't going to fix it.
Why you so against It?
And I'm not being defensive. I'm just confused. I don't know why you're taking the time to make such an effort to tell us off on here. If you don't like it shake your head and watch another video. You are being hostile. We're taking about something we like and you're coming in and trolling it
I've worn a beard all my life. I've seen beards come and go they've been popular and then unpopular to have. I've seen this cycle at least three times.
I completely agree!! #beardpower It looks great man! I'm right there with you!
My fore fathers did not shave/trim their beards for over 450 years and nor have any of my uncles, father, grandfather, or male cousins thus date. Along with the hair on their heads. This is both on my paternal and maternal side. However I have never cut my the hair on my head I was the first to trim my beard. I neatly tie my hair in a bun and protect it with a neatly tied turban for I am a Sikh. I've always compared a beard to a lion's mane. Have you ever seen a full grown lion without its mane? Same goes for humans it's just natural and looks badass.
Jman you said it right brother
I'm two months into my beard. I've never felt so good about myself. I'm only 24, so alot of my friends ate clean shaven or maintained, I feel left out but then again I feel like I'm getting to know myself more. So great beard brother. Keep it up.
Your grow beard best years 35 plus
These are words of wisdom. A beard shows masculinity.
You sir are a top man!
Very well spoken my friend.
I like your perspective man.. Good stuff. I'm a man with a 5month old beard and 7 month stash. I like the look of a longer stash so I grew it out longer then shaved and started over. I was having thoughts of shaving.. But after this video, forget about it.
"Most men don't know what they look like" Love it!
Awesome brother!! I like your thinking!!
Nathan Swisshelm I appreciate that!
Your welcome! I love it when men grow out what they've got. I mean, most do not even know why they shaved in the first place, and then only have an image of what one must look like in order to grow it out. Each was given the amount of hair growth possible for each of us. It is great to hear that despite the lack of a complete beard, you decided to give it a whirl. Thanks for encouraging me! Good luck and keep in touch.
Well said👍
great beard micheal keep on bearding man
Awesome video man. I'm 18, and I was working at Chick-fil-A for a while, and they made me stay clean shaven. They would write me up if I didn't. Like you said, I felt like they were controlling me. I recently quit about a month ago, and I now have the freedom of growing my beard for really the first time (since I wasn't able to grow a beard until just recently). And your video has given me a new insight on how awesome beards really are! :) Thank you man.
The irony of Chic-fil-A being against beards
Right on, brother.
One beard to another...looking awesome.
Well said.
Restored my faith! I feel pressured a lot recently to shave my 3 monther. I wanna go for a year then trim down to a 2-3 month state
TeagueSurf Awesome man! Ya, the pressure to shave can be great at times.
Dude you rock with that beard
@Devin Shaw Bummer! It is nice that it always grows back.
I definitely feel that as a man of European descent, having a beard is a good thing. Beards are to the ancient indigenous Europeans like Germanics and Celts as to what long hair is for Native Americans.
THANKS!
We need more video inspiration!!
Just heard a different way to say "clean shaven" Instead say completely shaven. It was propaganda by razor manufacturers to say clean shaven back in the day. thought I would share that with everyone.
Thank you
You have an awesome beard! It's refreshing to see people that don't follow the masses. Oscar Wilde had a great quote, when he said, "Be yourself; everyone else is already taken."
Jingy2003 I appreciate that! What a good quote. I am always searching for the truth in life, and I believe that life is full of truths that we must explore. We must always challenge our thoughts about things. Because the truth is out there. We just need to find it.
I too grow a beard and I appreciate the compliments I get and I concur. Boys shave their faces and men groom their beards, IMHO that is. Being a red head helps too I'm sure :P Thumbs up, and you sir have an epic beard, I'm more of a short side long chin kinda guy but that's me (6+ inches from chin)
Hey! That's encouraging man. Stay tuned for more encouragement. I am glad that I could help!
I am working on it! It takes consistency to make it all work
I've been growing out my beard for three years and I think that now I really know who I really am. I live in a place where growing beards is kinda look down upon but I love my real face. Sometimes this type of discrimination makes me feel bad but I know this a part of my face and my identity and Im not affected by what some people say. When they meet first time people often look at my beard more than they look in my eyes while talking. I feel unique n I love it. Btw youre looking great in beards
ridvan ullah Thank You! You will be happier in the long run this way. You need to be who you are, and if you think that you look good and feel good with a beard, then that is all that matters. With time everyone will notice. It is too bad that it takes so long for people to accept new things, but I know that I am the same way at times concerning other changes that people make.
Another awesome video, beard on!
you sir just put into words about how i feel about my beard and the people who try to make me cut it. I actually trimmed today in the first time in 9 months and i do not grow a beard well but i sir have a great beard that i love very much and i think i only took off about 10 stray hairs give or take great video sir
Keep your beard up you look cool
I appreciate it!
That's great! Ya, I think that beards are great for all weather contrary to the reason many shave their beards before summer.
In Junior High, I was jealous of my best friend being able to grow a moustache. Mine didn't come in anywhere convincingly until I was about 20. But my beard got a kick start at 18, and have only been clean shaven once or twice since then. But now we're both 24 and only one of us can grow a beard. You guessed it, its me.
the price of razor blades is enough to make you grow a beard !
Lovely :) GREAT video. Beautiful perspective. That's how I feel too (even though I'm a woman). hahaha
I am happy that you like my videos! I appreciate the feedback.
I just laugh when people ask when I'm going to shave and I say 'What are you talking about, I don't understand what ya mean.."
lu ke When I started growing my beard people usually asked, "are you growing your beard?" I simply told 'em "No, i'm not growing it, its natural." God gifted it to me. #BeardPower
There's a name for people without beards. Women!!!
Neal Seifert exactly!
No necessarily
Philip DiCicco I appreciate your feedback!
The 12th of august will be my 9 month of growing out 'my' natural beard.
It is a auburn/chestnut colored goatee and a fine looking thick mustache, not so lucky with the jaw line. So a natural stach and a goatee.
It's about finger length now and I am looking forward to my 2 years with my man look. :)
Thanks for being an inspiration.
I like your beard and your look a lot! You're handsome.
And it feels good to have a manly man out there to look up to.
Great beard.
I have a pretty awesome 4 month beard!! I am going for the yeard!! I love it, and wish I would have done this sooner!!
Jason Gilman Awesome man!
I'm kind of obsessed now too... LoL but everything you have said is totally true! It is truly a learning experience. I feel bad for the beardless souls now.. haha
Jason Gilman I do too, and have friends despite not having much hair to work with are still going for it. I commend them!
Very nice beard. I'm growing mine too and I think a man without beard is just not complete now. Infact I'm planing to have the same style as you. Only without the moustache due to my religious requirements to let the beard grow and trim the moustache. Great beard sir and you look very clean.
metal9023 Ha! Nice! Thanks
Hey no, the Bible says that you can't shave off anything that is part of your beard, including the mustache.
That's true when you said about shaved men do have a beard style but mine is a lot longer
I have been growing my beard for a month. I feel like a man!! I love it, I feel like ME!, I notice the ladies like it too, thank you for your vids... I FEEL LIKE A LION!!!
omg..... i just decided to grow a beard!
thank you!
Thanks! I really appreciate that. Do you have a mobile device that you can bring to your barber? If so then you could use this video.
I´ve had different styles of beard since i was 15, mostly goatees or short full beard. Now, 11 years later im at 7 months of growing my full beard for the first time (4 inches), and it has drastically increased my impact upon other people, and my own selfworth.
TheJohnSolid That is really amazing. I have experienced similar results with my beard as well.
Nice beard!
WAJ Bekker Thanks!
@Sambaligalow Thanks for the compliment!
@Michael Owen its growing back! lovein it
Good video
Beard on brother!
I spoke about you on my video don't worry it's all good
A lady's perspective here, and I'll try to make it short. Men with beards are awesome! As for my personal preference, "No fuzzle? No snuzzle!"
👍 Very nice ideas for people growing beard. But in my opinion trimming moustache make easy to drink liquids and soup.
I agree! I have done it in order to make my wife happy. She loves my hair cut. I will do what it takes to keep her as happy as possible. That's just me.
And their great in the winter if your an outdoors kind of guy and live where it get's cold. Six weeks now, it's oct 14 2013. I'm getting ready for the cold weather. By Thanksgiving I'll be snug as a bug in a rug..LOL.
It is really very easy to grow a beard. It happens with no effort at all. When someone asks me if I am growing a beard, I tell them No! What I am really doing is failing to cut it.
I love my beard but it's not connecting with the moustache atm so for now I have a van dyke
Do you regret cutting your hair?
Why did you do it?
Society as a whole, at least in America, is too damn judgemental when it comes to beards or just in general for that matter. I decided to just stop giving a fuck what people think about my looks, and holy shit is it liberating. To my surprise I feel so much better when I don't give a fuck, being judged that is, so men, beard that shit!
true words man i too do not give a fuck what anybody thinks about my beard and i've had all the usual "funny" comments from people "you aren't carrying a bomb are you" "you look like moses" even though i'm a white enlish guy ? one of my friends even shouted alla uh akbah to me in public i usually find the neggative comments are from guys that absolutely can not grow a beard i don't give a damn what anybody thinks and i'm not growing a beard to get attention or trying to follow some kind of trend i like having a beard it feels comfortable and natural so that's all that matters i just don't understand where some people get the idea that it's OK to make jokes or comments about a mans beard ? i don't go up to clean shaven men and say why have you got a bald face you look very feminine
Okay thanks that may be a possibility.
I'm Italian, and 16, and to be honest, I'm already working on a full beard.
Shaving Is Conforming, Start The Movement
I'm with you!
@DCNewsom42 hahaha Thanks!
you look sharp. well done, shout to your wife for being in you corner. I will post a pic/vid I am on day 3.....
@mastejn665 I am glad that I can help!
What supplements do take daily sir for the the B ?!
When you doing another video
it's funny how right you are.....beards are natural.....I will not cut my beard off.
Beards for life!!!!!
Nice beard, mine takes awhile to grow for some reason, slower than some of my friends but it looks good. I just hit a couple months and its finally hitting the stage where its becoming full and looks really good. My chin hair grows super fast as oppose to my cheek hair so I have trimmed once to keep it more even. But now it is time to just let nature take its coarse. I am 23. Most guys my age are clean shaven, I pity them for not having the balls to grow one out. Honestly the only reason they shave is for women, and I think that is a really bad reason. Ironically I get a lot of attention when I grow mine out. Just last night a cute girl came up to me at the bar and rubbed her face on it, then ran her fingers like she was petting me, she looked at me, told me she loves face hair, flashed her boobs and put my face in it, then walked away lol that has NEVER happened to me while I was clean shaven.
And body hair for women is also normal
+Lili Myu at what point did he say it was not?
Native Texan At what point did I say that he said it was not?
Is it okay to use regular baby oil in your beard? My beards a month old and I want it to look shiny
Don't use motor oil it's not nice in your beard.
Ever since i was a child i always felt like Good, honest and truthful men have beards, so couldn't wait for mine to come, and eventually it did and at the right time its trending, so ive being letting it grow, its a trend here to stay. Always felt like my dad looked like and angry african dictator when he shaved his beard, was always uneasy when shaved his head and beard. But i remembered my ground father and grand uncle kept theirs, so from childhood ive bein wating for the day to luk like them
I think it's great that you growing a bead. I have a question do you shave your neck or is it completely unshaven?
roth d Thanks. I shaved the neck for the first 6 months or so and once the beard covered it I let it grow
Ok I have a question, what if you can't really grow hair on your cheeks? Do I need to just own my beard and love it because it is mine and its unique?
seabeesdaddy22 Absolutely! People are most always happiest when they are thankful for what they've got. A full beard isn't the best beard. Your beard is the best because it is what you are able to grow or not grow.
On a different note. We are not all suppose to be without beards.
seabeesdaddy22 yes....love your beard and never compare your unique beard to another beard...... although, they may be similar (or similar to your beard goal) they are like fingerprints and unique in every way.......beard on brother.
Whatever you grow, mustache, goatee, chops, chin strap, or a full beard, it's still a display of manhood and an absolute confidence booster(which is all the evidence I need to know it's meant to be).
I just had to shave for a job. I had no choice, I needed a job and they were the only quick fix that wasn't minimum wage. I feel like a sell out for shaving. I agree men should be men. Not boys. It's sad and pathetic I have to have my beard shaved just so I can pay bills. I hate it.
I did trim my neck in the beginning, by request from my wife. I finally stopped, thank goodness!
Just beardiful
It's strange that people will listen and hear and understand (to some extent) the fact that shaving, and having teh hair of one's head cut short, became commonplace for the sake of industrial workplace safety, and yet, they will nonetheless, completely illogically, continue to regard it as a standard which must be adhered to.
remember sampson and delya GROW YOUR HAIR to terminallength I have had my beard for 53 years uncut the head 68 years. gs
Im gona grow my ass hair and build my self a portable chair!
graylobo133 If you could do that I'm not gonna lie, it would gross me out.
graylobo133 u fucking killed me 😂😂
Bummer Man! Your chance will come again.
So do you work?
Yahweh commanded us to keep beards and to wear them with pride, that's why he gave them to us.
When I'm shaved, I feel emasculated.
Long hair is also natural friend!
Peace :)
Micheal get the word out beards are back with a vengence,O h nice beard I hope you dont cut anything , a full beard says MAN cheek and neck scraping is insanity. all the best gurkirpal singh
gurkirpal singh I appreciate that!
I like the comments. I guess head hair is gender neutral, but facial hair is a secondary sexual characteristic, with the exception of some hairier women. Clean shaven look is cleaner, supposedly, and safer. I don't want a long beard caught in machinery! However, a beard is good sun protection. You have a good beard. Thanks.
I've been going for almost 3 years ( almost ZZ length) now and have no intention of ever shaving. I agree; this is what I'm supposed to look like.
I had a beard for years...its nasty...clean shaven feels clean!
Hey Michael well said. I couldn't grow a beard for a few years but now i can. It's funny how these people take these greek/roman ideals and throw them on everybody. God made each and everyone of us unique and i think if a man wants to grow long hair and a beard, then more power to them. But would you mind if I shared this vid on my facebook. It is the same thing i've been saying since i was a kid. Nice to know i'm not the only one who thinks like that.
@Malcolm Perez Beards are natural part of many men. I would be honored if you would posted my video!
The Bible says that it is shameful for a man to have long hair, it is only for women for covering. These are God's words not mine.
