I have the 7’3 Marshall for swim jigs and weedless swimbaits throwing braid to leader, and the 7’2 MH moderate for mostly chatterbaits but it’s awesome for lipless and squarebills in grass. Love them both
The 72 MH mod...I know it's going to be parabolic, just how soft is it? Looking for a new lipless and shallow-mid depth cranking rod. I don't like really soft rods.
Now that our bass season finally opened, and I used my LTB version of this rod, I revisited your video. I was casting weightless senkos (5" & 6") with it paired with a Metanium. Casting into submerged grass and grass edges. It performed very well. However, I may have run too light on the line. 14lb Sunline Sniper. It was ok until the line shattered at the rod tip area on a hook set. I'll be loading it with 16lb and trying it with weighted speed worms and other T-rigs in the deeper grass soon. P.S. It'll launch a hard hitting rock bass into orbit. Lol
I bought the new Legend Tournament version of this rod (the Power Finesse). What weights of jigs/T-rigs have you tried with it? I want to use it to pitch/cast to grass flats and deeper grass. Maybe drag T-rig worm through grass as well.
@Fishin Mitch I have that same set set up. I used my set up last year for Pike and it actually was nice and the rod was actually nice for the price worked great 👍
I'd happily put it up against a Champion (or a Levante, Zodias, etc). Also, St. Croix rods don't balance the best, in my experience, but between the warranty and performance, I love that action and length and hope St. Croix makes it in their other series in the next year or two. Cuz GIMME.
I'd imagine the balance on their lighter power rods are spot on, but it's going to be tough finding a 7'3 H under 4.5 oz in this price range. I'd say it's just as sensitive as a Champion, has just as solid a warranty and comes in $70 cheaper. I'd put it neck and neck with the Zodias, but if you want a more moderate action rather than the Zodias' true fast action, and a sick warranty, you should probably go with the Victory. Only place I think the Zodias wins is in sensitivity.
After being able to play with a lot more rods after making this video, I'd say the Expride is definitely worth the extra $70. I'd also seriously consider checking out the Falcon Cara line. $250, lifetime warranty, stupid light and very sensitive. I plan on making a video about them late spring/early summer when I get to fish all of them thoroughly
I have the full contact in the full contact extra fast in the 3/8 to 1 1/4 the thing I hook it up with a Shimano Calcutta 250 GTB which is rather a heavy it took a long to this master this but I never set the hook on a fish no matter which lure I use I letfish hook it's self
I'm really liking it so far! Definitely more like a Medium Heavy + than a true heavy, but I'd still be comfortable flipping the heavy stuff with straight braid if I had to. Super versatile from what I can see!

The only st. Croix rod i like for spinning combo is inshore mojo rod for weightless senkos

15lb would probably be the lightest I'd run, I think you'll be totally fine with 16lb! I've gotta get my hands on the LTB eventually..
Tight lines!

I'd be confident pitching anything from 1/4 to 5/8 oz ! I mostly fished a 3/8 and 1/2 oz and it felt perfect for this rod
What reel do you have on the rod?
Shimano Chronarch! One of my favorites

Would you spend the extra 70 and get an expride?

@@FishinMitch I’ll take a look at that now before I order the expride. Thank you sir.
@@michaelroberts1571 You got it!

Watch punch fishing’s review on this rod. It’s dope, just ignore the heavy rating and treat it like a MH. It’s definitely not Xfast either
