If you know the pitch between the condenser fins you can get a cheap radiator fin comb to straighten them out. I'm running a second hand Bosch self cleaning heat pump dryer. It's about 10 years old. Just replaced the tumbler belt and the bearing. Still somehow works and dries like a champ. It did cost me 80 quid though.

That's the usual markteting-made up nonsense. You should clean the condensor every time the achievements of your dryer fall short of your expectations. @@50plusdad-uk thanks for the reply! I’ve just ordered a Bosch dryer but it doesn’t have self cleaning so presumably I’ll have access to the condenser fins and I’ll be sure to clean regularly. 👍🏻
Heat pump dryers of this type have a major weakness that causes them to fail from the very first drying cycle. Instead of installing this nonsensical technology with self-cleaning, it would have been better to install a filter directly in front of the heat exchanger. This prevents fluff and dust from penetrating the slats and clogging them. The manufacturer Miele builds its dryers this way. The filters in the door are not sufficient. If you have a dryer like this and are handy, you should remove the heat exchanger, clean it thoroughly and cut a filter out of ppi30 foam and place it in front of it. You can clean this every 6 to 8 drying cycles and the device will stay clean and work efficiently for a long time.
my mother inlaw has a newer bosch and it has an access flap with a third filter behind it, the condenser is spotless, I got some filters so i'm going to try and modify this machine again.
How long did you have it before it ended up like this pal? Looking to purchase a new tumble dryer myself but don’t want to waste money on a self cleaning one if it doesn’t actually work! Think the main issue with the heat pump dryers is the issue you have in this video and i don’t think the part is easily removable on any them regardless of brand, but I could be wrong. Would you have rather have bought a standard condenser model to avoid this issue as I know you can remove this part on them and clean it out thoroughly. I know the heat pump models are more efficient at first, but how long does that actually last before it becomes false economy due to it getting clogged up like this and it being virtually un-cleanable except the front part that you cleaned in this video, which I would imagine is even worse on dryers without the self cleaning function.
This is about 5 years old now, I have cleaned it before but without cutting the panel out so it was more a quick poke with a hoover (hence the bent fins on the condenser) and just because I was cleaning the 2 removable filters. This time it was not drying as well so I went all in at it, Our problem is 2 Husky cross dogs their fur gets everywhere so what ever we have gets covered in it, there is probably fur in all my videos if you look close enough. But it did take 5yrs to get this bad so we are happy with ours over a standard dryer.
The filters aren't clean as you say, one , the outer is, you can see through it, but the inner one, has like microfibers cloging the mesh, easy to check if you know you need to be able to read any text through it, like the outer. As for the selfcleaning condenser, more ofren is the rear heat exchanger cloged.,
I did another video using a garden sprayer, this is really good at getting deeper between the fins. I think next time it clogs I'll try back flushing from the pump side to try and push the fluff back out the way it came.👍
You need the flap to seal the machine or it will dtaw air through the hole and not the drum. It would also let moisture out and possibly even water damaging the machine etc
start at the bottom edge, if you look at 7:05 you can see there are 5 recesses where the clips locate, get the bottom out first as the top clips are hooks and snap easily.
I think the newer models have an additional lint trap/filter that is easily cleaned but I've not used one, ours is nearly 6yrs old. 3-4 times a day seems a lot you may be better off with a much larger capacity machine so you don't have so many loads 👍
@@50plusdad-uk i was thinking to buy the siemens model 9kg , but it as the self cleaning .... or the lg 10kg with self cleaning again, not sure. Im confused 🤣
@GonçaloSimões-l5i thats the trouble too much choice, maybe try searching the machines you mentioned with known faults at the end and see what problems people have had, it may help you decide. Good luck 👍
You have to be careful when vacuuming the condenser and not press too hard against those fins. Otherwise, you bend far too many of them. Wouldn't a can of compressed air be a safer option? Or maybe a computer vac.
I've not had this one yet, it's not listed on the bosch site www.bosch-home.com/mt/service/get-support/dryer-errors The only thing I can find is for blocked drain tube or pump, might be worth pulling the machine out and see if the pipe is blocked or if you don't use the tank and are piped direct to the drain check that the pipe is not kinked/blocked.
Thanks for the video but sadly this is just the tip of the ice berg and won’t solve the real problem. Probably the heater unit is clogged with a thick layer of dust a that can’t be cleaned unless you disassemble the dryer. Look at this video how to do it ua-cam.com/video/K7TLldVklig/v-deo.htmlsi=qHWwdunYmVeM6hJP
Thanks for watching, @Mentaspex mentions pulling the pump at the rear and flushing through with low pressure water, this might be an easier way rather than pull most of the dryer apart, mine works fine after cleaning the front part but my main problem is dog fur from 2 Huskies. 👍
It depends, wherever you have earlier revision of this dryer, which has only 1 lint filter, or second revision, which has 2 lint filters. Later they added very fine lint filter in order to prevent the heater and condenser unit from being clogged. You can find this comment in the video that you linked. If you look at that video, the dryer on that video has only 1 filter, thats why there is so much lint inside. I have later revision of this dryer and plan to do this, but not because my dryer takes forever to dry the clothes, but because the clothes started to stink after taken out from the dryer. I tried bosch original cleaning solution for heat pump tumble dryer, but it did not help, so I am suspecting it will be the condenser.
@@50plusdad-uk I have Bosch dishwasher, Bosch fridgefreezer and Bosch Serie 6 washing machine. Bosch dishwasher leaked from base after 4.5 years showing E15? Fridge freezer freezes stuff almost in fridge part, washing machine is ok for now but deffo not worth the money…

Pity you did not show that part.
Thanks for watching, yes I missed the front panel bit out so I put it in this one ua-cam.com/video/vS94WOMAvIo/v-deo.html hope it helps, just go gently.
@@50plusdad-uk Thanks so much ! I should have checked that link first of all before asking 🤭
No problem hopefully it'll help.
@@50plusdad-uk I hope so too. Waiting for the replacement part to arrive from Amazon, then we'll see.
I cut open the plastic cover and cleaned the condenser but I had no reparation kit so just closed it again using some tape. Now the dryer does not start..I guess the two are related? Ordering the flap asap to check though...
Dont use tape, it will get hot and let go then any moisture will leak out. Not sure why it won't start maybe linked to the panel. Turn off the power when you fit it and check everything before switching back on.
what if you cut the cover off and leave it open without replacement cover, just put the front (white) cover back?
It needs to be sealed by the replacement cover to stop moisture getting into the rest of the machine and keep the heat in.
Very useful have same problem nice manual
Thanks 👍
thank you soooooo much, now I will go and fix my dryer..
😁👍

How did the fins become so bent in the first place?
Before I fitted the maintenance panel I used a pipe on the end of my wet vac to try and clean it, but you can't see what your doing oops 😬
@@50plusdad-uk thanks for the reply! I’ve just ordered a Bosch dryer but it doesn’t have self cleaning so presumably I’ll have access to the condenser fins and I’ll be sure to clean regularly. 👍🏻
@zoltar808 👍

Awesome bro!! They make some shit units with no access to clean...
my mother inlaw has a newer bosch and it has an access flap with a third filter behind it, the condenser is spotless, I got some filters so i'm going to try and modify this machine again.
Thank you for this!
No problem 😊
I think next time it clogs I'll try back flushing from the pump side to try and push the fluff back out the way it came.👍
I love you! Thank you 🙏
Thanks 😊
I had no idea when I did this how many people were having the same problem, so it's been really nice to help. 😁👍
Do you need the flap? Can't you just keep that open and put on the lid?
You need the flap to seal the machine or it will dtaw air through the hole and not the drum. It would also let moisture out and possibly even water damaging the machine etc
Ah thx! Good explanation👍
No problem thanks for watching
Have you ever tried to pressure steam the condenser with steamer?
I haven't tried a steamer, I'm not sure if it would get deep enough, next time I'm gonna try a hose or spray to see if that gets any more muck off.
put the machine in test mode and test the cleaning system ripetutely and it will clean, obviusly with the tank water filled up
I tried that it didn't get the dog fur out, next time I'm going to try a hose and wet vac.
Thank you for the video. How to put the machine in test mode or maintenance mode? I got Siemmens iq500 but it looks exactly the same .
@@Redanssi There are instructions from
@jmolsson85 in the comments of this video ua-cam.com/video/vS94WOMAvIo/v-deo.html
How to open white plastic cover? You didn’t show that. Thanks.
start at the bottom edge, if you look at 7:05 you can see there are 5 recesses where the clips locate, get the bottom out first as the top clips are hooks and snap easily.
@@50plusdad-ukThank you! 😊
No problem happy to help 😊

And how to remove front part? You skipped that part to record?
Thanks for watching, Have a look at this one ua-cam.com/video/vS94WOMAvIo/v-deo.html
it shows how to get it off.
Should i buy this machine or not? It will be working 3-4 times a day
I think the newer models have an additional lint trap/filter that is easily cleaned but I've not used one, ours is nearly 6yrs old.
Good luck 👍
Thank you
No problem 😊
Approx where are the clips on the bottom of the face plate
Have a look at this one I show how to get it off. ua-cam.com/video/vS94WOMAvIo/v-deo.htmlsi=riYlaa-z2xBbPwnB 👍
You have to be careful when vacuuming the condenser and not press too hard against those fins. Otherwise, you bend far too many of them.
Wouldn't a can of compressed air be a safer option? Or maybe a computer vac.
I did another video and used a water sprayer, it works well.
i have the same problem. such a terrible construction.
I know what were they thinking, I've done another video on an easy way to clean it if that helps.
I have a E:00 -36 error anyone get this?
I've not had this one yet, it's not listed on the bosch site www.bosch-home.com/mt/service/get-support/dryer-errors
The only thing I can find is for blocked drain tube or pump, might be worth pulling the machine out and see if the pipe is blocked or if you don't use the tank and are piped direct to the drain check that the pipe is not kinked/blocked.
Bosch is anything but quality today…sadly
I've got 4 and 3 of them I've had to take apart in the last 6 months 😔
@@50plusdad-uk I have Bosch dishwasher, Bosch fridgefreezer and Bosch Serie 6 washing machine.

@bogdannb my freezer is ok so far, dishwasher e15, tumble dryer condenser clogged and the washing machine shock absorbers went causing it to try and escape during spin cycle.
@@50plusdad-uk “Made in Germany” quality😇😂
👍🤣
you didn't fix anything like this
the condenser is clogged from the inside, and you only cleaned the outside...
That machine cannot be cleaned without complete disassembly, which is cost-effective
Mine works much better now. I have another way of cleaning that gets in a lot deeper. 👍
@@50plusdad-uk you just put off the problem for later.
the air flow is inevitably constantly reduced on machines with heat pumps, and it is impossible to clean them without complete disassembly, which cannot be done at home.
