Just test-drove a 2005 997 in Germany (am graduating from being a BMW guy to a Porsche). Would have brought tears to my eyes had I not been busy holding on to steering wheel. :D Hands were shaking afterwards, had to smoke a cigarette (and I dont smoke). An engineering masterwork of art. A bucket-list thing to own before you die. :D

I used to be a BMW man as well until I went Porsche & haven't looked back. I have an 1983 SC but I'm thinking of moving up to a 997 2005 ! Any problems with the 997 ( assuming you bought one ) Greeting from Australia !
+leonard bullhock I think whether or not a car gives you goosebumps depends on how you drive it. An E60 530i gave me all the thrill I want on some mountain roads in the black forest and while chasing a 991 carrera on the autobahn. Also I get more goosebumps drifting a 2 liter diesel mercedes through the snow than people get driving their 991 Turbo S slowly through city traffic. Not to mention people who buy their cars to show off and never even touch the throttle.
leonard bullhock yeah the rear engine layout in combination with those engines works perfectly but it's also a matter of taste theres dozens of cars that would be a perfect fit for me.
the PDK shifter makes you push in the direction you want to go. wanna go faster (as in, go MORE forward), PUSH forward. wanna slow down (as in, go LESS forward, i.e. backward), PULL backward! it's engineering done right!
Wrong... and race cars prove that by having it reversed. When you're acelerating, Gforces pushed you backwards, so makes more sense to press the gearchange in the direction of the G-force. So when acelerating you shuld pull back the "gearstick", when breaking you pull forward, that way your movement is assited by the Gforces

+Beeboy69 Yes. Research the IMS and RMS issues. Seems to be the best way to go is the 997.2.
