Alex & Eric, you show respect and the greatest attitude about your situations and most importantly, with each other. The teamwork you both have along with patience for each other is a great example for all ages and especially those younger to see it in action. Well done!
I think this channel is way under appreciated by the merciless algorithm. Your work is authentic educational and up beat. I’m telling my friends about it.
Btw - Alex - you are RICH in the best type of friends. This says a lot about you. Thanks again for this series. It’s a gift, especially since many of of us are quarantined....
i did the river about a month ago, the winds were really bad at that big lake section, and we had tried to camp at your campsite but there were fresh bear prints and we wanted to stay safe, so we went over to that cabin. its really nice seeing those places again in detail.
Appreciate this comment. I feel very lucky with the friends I have in my life and hope you find some people to paddle with (if that is what you want) Cheers 🍻

This is so similar to the Kesagami River, (not too far away) that my husband and I paddled in 1984. Its a treat to watch this video, since we are now past our wilderness tripping days.
Alex, You really know how to tell the tale of the trip, and merge in video that makes you feel like you are actually on the trip. It is a cut above what others are posting. I’ve paddled canoes for 50 years with a fair share of wilderness camping, though mostly whitewater. And you guys have greatly improved your back paddling and boat control since even Boreal to Barrens series. And that neck gaiter. Is it just stretchy nylon?. Single layer? Treated with bug repellant. I find the single layer stuff still lets mosquitos probe through. And I’ve been hesitant to have tight fit of anything peritherin treated. Keep up the good work. I watch them all. End to end.
Thank you for the kind words Alex! We have been working hard to improve our skills. Sometimes it takes mistakes to learn lessons the hard way. As you know, the more you paddle the more you learn. Yes these are just single layer nylon. I like them but understand mosquitos can still get you a bit. Thanks for following along!
Hey guys watching you both having a great time on the water, seeing that gorgeous Caribou, making your way along the river - walking & paddling. Having alot of fun. Travel safely & thanks for sharing your adventures with us.
Friggin awesome footage. First the caribou then the double rainbow. Amazing paddling also and great encouragement to each other. Great to see that. Can’t wait for more😘
Awesome bull woodlander you guys saw, A beautiful sight to see! And way to take in the moment at your waterfall campsite.. unreal! Thanks for sharing Alex!
Gee whiz OMG the adrenaline tip for used boys to get through that oh my God. ALL I CAN DO IS JUST STARE RIGHT AT YOU IF I LOOKED AT THE WATER I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN DIZZY 🥴WOW Great job boys!
I really enjoyed this. Loved seeing the strategy of running a big river and I loved the footage of back paddling in the standing waves at the foot of big drops showing you don’t need a spray skirt, just skill. I’m gonna sound old now, but young canoeist seem to rely too heavily on the high tech clothing and that is replacing skill. You’d be amazed what you catch onto and replay in your mind after plunging in wearing a set of wools.
Hey ! great episode 2 ! what an awesome trip ! I cant believe way out there you guys aren't catching boat loads of fish. thanks for sharing, I'm looking forward to Pt3 !
We couldn't believe it either! We think it had something to do with big swings in weather but who knows. Even with weather we should have caught more than this
Eeeeepic rapid runs. Loved this one. Caribou was incredible, super lucky you guys got to see it. Those busted up canoes were a sign - "slooow down". Awesome episode! 🤘
Fantastic falls campsite, wow. Sooo cool to see the cariboo, very lucky. Three canoes on the river says it is a tough one, great job paddling the rapids. Looking forward to the next episode! Thanks for sharing. :) :)
Sad to hear your Cariboo is declining. Our Sapmi people however raised a concern that things are changing and we need to act so we don't end up loosing this beautiful creature that roams the northern Scandinavia and that the Sapmi people depend on in so many ways. Loved the waterfall, it must have been such a treat to take a dip in that water!
You did an awesome job capturing the essence of river traveling on this series. I’m so stoked right now, lakes are busting up and I’ll be taking some casts from the canoe soon enough. Nothing better than the when you get the sun after being at 100% moisture level.
I feel bad for admitting I haven’t checked out your work for awhile. Awesome record of your trip; and glad we can “look over your shoulder” to get a feel for the experience. Thanks for putting this up! 👏🏻
Really enjoy the videos, and have a suggestion. Some of us really like to follow along on maps. Perhaps you could try to provide a bit more information about the route, give place names, etc. Keep up the good work, though!
Northern Scavenger has become my favorite UA-cam channel. Another great series. To bad Noah couldn’t join you guys. However Eric is a great add on. Really miss Ontario. Hope the border opens up soon.
@@NorthernScavenger I loved the white water sections. It's great to see an expert in action. I'm looking forward to future installments. BTW, your opening and closing graphics are perfect. Well done.
What awesome scenery between the caribou, rapids and waterfalls! Doesn't get much better than that! It's nice to see you guys working better together on each rapid you run, soon enough you'll be reading each others minds!
i go to the camp with the abandoned canyons! those canoes were abandoned because of a bear a few years back. really really cool to see that you saw them too!
Loving this series Alex and Eric... great work on the rapids and too bad, so sad for the abandoned canoes... what a great little swim hole at the end...
Loving these episodes. I still have an article from the Globe and Mail, 2004 by Peter Findlay, describing a similar trip of 3 canoes. Always wanted to canoe that river based on the written article. Seeing your videos now, maybe not! Especially after seeing 3 abandoned canoes. It is eerie how similar their efforts and weather patterns were to your own. UA-cam doesn't allow me to attach a PDF but it is an interesting article. Looking forward to the next episode.
Were you using old Camp Wanapitei trip notes? - the rapid names align with what we used when we ran this as a family in '03. The kids were 15, 12 and 8 at the time. A very challenging trip - we seemed to have had higher water. Busted the rear seat in my Blue Hole 17A on Triple Tongue!
Episode 2 looked great. I've never seen a caribou in the wild but one never knows. Fingers are crossed I do. Those canoes looked liked they went 2 out of 3 falls in a wrestling match and lost huge. On to episode 3 for more adventure viewing.
Hey great filming, you make us watchers feel like we are along for the ride with you! The group that left the canoe's were not having a good time at all, bummer. Looking forward to the next episode! Thanks and take care.

only about half way thru this one... crazy river action! Eric's enthusiasm is great.
Awesome stuff. Extremely relaxing to watch while sipping on some rum when it's -20 outside.
Cheers to that 🍻
I love the authenticity of your films. Sounds and images are breathtaking.

Nothing better than a campfire first thing in the morning!
