I have watched a number of canoe trip videos over the years, but this series is by far the one I have enjoyed the most. The sounds of the water, the intimate look at the rapids and your process for navigating them, the scenery, the gentle conversation between you two, the respect for the river's dangers, the food joy....and also that you didn't allow the music to become raunchy or to overwhelm the sounds of where you were. Because I have done many river canoe trips myself, (now sort of retired at 79 years old) the slow pace allowed me to tap into the body-memories I have and to actually feel your moves and the movements of the river itself. Really a work of art, the whole series so far. I will follow you to Moosonee! Thank you.
The only bad thing is that we all have to wait another week to keep going. The good thing though is that the waiting suspense is for something good and real, unlike TV and junk. Keep up the good work! Take care.
Good on you both for being so positive with each other! When things get frustrating, it's too easy to blame the other guy. I wish I had been as positive when I was younger. Great communication!
You guys are like an extension of one another when you are strategizing a route into a rapid and navigating across for the set up. Pride never seems to taint your vision. Amazing work guys.
Well when I thought it could not get any better, you proved me wrong! Both of you were awesome! Perfect team! Looks like the weather changed on day 10. But not your enthusiasm! True outdoor adventurers! I could go on and on but to much to put in this comment! Thanks for making these videos! Looking forward to more..As I said, you guys rock!! Rick From Virginia
Great video guys.. I'm too old and crippled up to be doing any kinda trips like this now...but you allow me to live vicariously thru your adventures...I appreciate that haha...love the beautiful scenery...wild rivers and great campsites...keep them coming fellas✌️
Another awesome addition to this series. As an expat Aussie living in Canada was loving Alex's take on Chet Faker's Talk is Cheap backcountry style - great stuff.
My compliments to you both. I’ve been a subscriber for over a year now. Your camera work gets better & better with each video you produce. I was a combat videographer & photographer in the USMC in the 80’s & 90’s. I wish I had Go-Pros and all the fancy field type camera gear that’s available today. I would have been a modern day Edward R. Murrow among Marine correspondents! Great video! Great cinematography! & great canoe & camping skills!
You guys are not missing anything out here that most certainly can not wait. I'm so sorry that most of all the fish and animals are all but gone with no doubt as a result of excess carbon in the water. I fear any fish that are caught are basically the last of their kind. Even the dolphins and whales are rolling up on the beaches in mass in their search for food that is no longer there. You guys have given me a deeper understanding to a place that is that in it's self is not sustainable off grid. Keep up the good work from an environmental prospective moving forward.! Thank you both very much for your hard work in bring this to us.! Well Done and thumbs up.!
Emergency evacuation plans are all made in advance. We have a Garmin InReach on us to contact emergency services as well as local flight charter companies with locations they could pick us up (lakes big enough to land on and in distance of their base). Hope that helps
We had to cut the full reaction. It was over 10 minutes of raw emotion after that set. Glad we were able to capture some of that in the final video. Thanks for watching
You’s deserve a bottle not a swig. Definitely getting my heart pumping. Amazing scenery that most of us will never see. Thanks for sharing and keep playing safe.😘
Alex, I've watched a lot of your Northern Scavenger videos, great stuff. Kudos to you too for running so many rapids on such a remote river. You did great. I'm refining my whitewater technique by watching you.
Awesome! Not sure how 6 folks as of now could down thumb this video. Great teamwork, paddling, videography and enough “dude!” Quotes. Great series so much so that i bought a hat for my PCT thru hike. See you in the woods!
Thank you for sharing. I've really enjoyed watching this trip. Hope there will be more videos like this. I have never canoed before, you make it look like so much fun.
Another fantastic episode! Love your music choice, never overwhelming, just perfect! Since we haven't seen the end yet, wouldn't it be cool to find your other nalgene on the shore of James Bay! Can't wait for the rest!
Another epic episode ! These close calls help to maintain a safe level of awareness and respect for the river.👍.............🚣♂️

Another great episode. I like your navigation instruction in the rapids,it's clear. And the back paddling technic is impressive on camera view. Thank for the great job.
Epic Episode 5! That last set of rapids had me on the edge of my seat, a few shots of whiskey is right! lol Thanks for sharing, looking forward to the next episode! :) :)
Tyler this is such a great series. Perry seems to be gaining more confidence every day. Wait till James bay. It is so huge and the winds are brutal. Really enjoying this
"what are we having for breakfast?" "...yoooo...ohhhhh...yes dude...best site ever". 😂 This interaction shows you guys are a proper team and are on the same page. Awesome content boys. Looking forward to the next one
Holy moly boys that was a work out. My heart was racing so yours must have been pounding! Alex nice work on the guitar, talented. So this has been quite the trip so far you guys. Ah whisky that sure would help the nerves. Waiting with baited breath for the next episode.
This has been an amazing series!! Such beauty & u guys r an awesome team. Watched all your videos the past cpl wks & can't wait for more!!! Your talent & love for adventure is truly incredible!
Up to know what a wonderfull adventure, but everyday i watch your fly line, your spinning line and after 9 days you didn't eat one single fish. Maybe you just dont like fish, i dont know. But the vacation of a life time is just ouf! and you were very «sécuritaire» that assured us to see it. What a great adventure from to good bro.
This summer you guys better go further North. Or else! I expect to see all the parts of Ontario I am to pussy to attempt to explore myself on this channel.
Hi: I noticed that on your trip you haven’t seen much wildlife, also very few portage trails. Not to mention no fish, lol. Be safe looking forward to episode 6.
Damn man, you pump these videos out pretty quick and they're always great. Awesome work! They're holding me over till I can finally get the boat in the water this spring.
Ya had me scared for a second boys. 🙂 I mentioned last week how I saw your friend improve over the trip, but it is harder for me to see your improvement, because you were already pretty good, but definitely your confidence, and your captainship has improved over the trip. The only snag was when your buddy got too nervous (and justifiably so), and he had a brain fart. Maybe, if it ever happens again, don't explain, just short, loud orders? Anyway, the great adventure continues. I'm still so jealous of this wonderful trip you e been blessed with.

Awesome! Thanks for the kind words, glad to hear you are enjoying the series
This will always be, it will NEVER be developed or changed, your lucky to be citizens of such a beautiful piece of heaven, paddle on boys.
That is the hope. We need to protect these places
The only bad thing is that we all have to wait another week to keep going. The good thing though is that the waiting suspense is for something good and real, unlike TV and junk. Keep up the good work! Take care.
Cheers!
I hope you win an award for this video, excellent
We hope so too!

Thanks for watching! We were pretty dialed in by the end of this trip
I had to put on some Deep Woods Off just to watch this episode!
Haha you should watch our Labrador series if you think these bugs are bad 😆 Thanks for watching!
Man, this gets better and better! Nice call on navigating those runs. Beauty!
Well when I thought it could not get any better, you proved me wrong! Both of you were awesome! Perfect team!

Awesome voice / song / lyrics / picking .....hats of to both of your !!!
I'm enjoying the adventure and the scenery of this series. I'm curious as to what your plan is to get back to civilization if the canoe gets wrecked.
Emergency evacuation plans are all made in advance. We have a Garmin InReach on us to contact emergency services as well as local flight charter companies with locations they could pick us up (lakes big enough to land on and in distance of their base). Hope that helps
Holy shiza boys!! That was a CLOSE one. The reaction afterwords was so raw. Loving this series, looking forward to what's next!
We had to cut the full reaction. It was over 10 minutes of raw emotion after that set. Glad we were able to capture some of that in the final video. Thanks for watching
