EP 76: Estriol Face Creams: The New Scams and Old False Claims

- “I think it's scammy. I think it's dangerous. And I'm saddened that many women are being lied to about these products.”
Have you seen those ads on social media for menopause or perimenopause supplements and creams that claim that they will fix all your woes? None of these products have a shred of proof behind their dramatic claims, and many of them are backed by huge celebrities promoting them like they’re a godsend for women.
The sad thing to me is that, ultimately, they’re spreading misinformation. They're convincing women to buy the product they're promoting or own, and most of them don’t do any good.
Today, I’m talking all about these scammy topical face creams, from those promoting the fact that they have estrogen in them to wild yam creams and those that are over the counter while exposing women to prescription-strength progesterone. Personally, I wouldn't spend a dime on these face creams. They’re preying on women's insecurities and giving you half-truths if not flat-out lies.
I'm not afraid to call these companies out. They're predatory, misinformed, and, at times, can even be dangerous. As a consumer, be cautious, seek medical advice, and opt for evidence-based skincare and nutritional products. As always, if you feel like you're being gaslit by the medical community, keep searching because there are doctors like me out there who want to help you feel better. Enjoy the episode!

They're sure are a lot of doctors that want to dismiss HRT for women. It's very challenging to get a doctor to prescribe. Why don't doctors get together and push for a new study for women instead of using outdated study. Men get handed out testosterone like candy.
Check out the May 2024 study that was done regarding women over 65. There's a video Shawn has up about it... it's a must know for ALL women 🎉

I use Estradiol cream 0.1% prescription Cream to face as per Dr. Rajani ( Dermatologist) recommendation. I definitely could see my eye lids droop is getting smaller and my jowls are not as bad. I use a tiny bit amount on face.
How much and how do you apply?
I do the same. Tiny dab mixed with my regular face cream. I’ve gotten compliments on my skin!

if I was able to get past the dr's who believe the bad study to get a proper script I would not have to go for the creams.
If you can get what you want without dealing with a physician, I wish these companies Godspeed.

I agree completely. My OBGYN prescribed Estrodial cream for my female parts ONLY. I was getting burning and constant urination, along with shrinking. I am even hesitant about using it there. But my Dr. says it's localized and will help me. I have cleared my symptoms with it. But don't like HRT.
The latest ad I’m getting inundated with? Blissy pillowcases. And yes they slapped a Menopause sticker on on of their ads. Along with other ridiculous claims.
I have just found you Dr.Tassone and am in Fl.,do you have an office here in Fl. I love the way you teach ,and your honesty with main stream medicine. If they can keep us confused enough then we buy into what ever we identify with ,and that can take you down many rabbit holes trying to feel better! It is true that Womens skin does change post menopause and what changes is that our estrogen significantly decreases and no longer comes from the ovaries.

I use Musely and have been using the Anti=Ageing cream for several months and I like it and have seen improvement in my skin. I’ve also bought the estrogen boost and plan to keep using them both. I’m also an esthetician and know a lot about skin care…

Thank you for the video, however, one thing that I have been unable to find, and nobody seems to know the answer to our three important questions: does topical progesterone, estriol, or Estradiol, down-regulate your bodies, natural production, as is the case with men who take testosterone? ❤
From my research, topical estriol doesn’t affect levels within the body.
I'm in my 60's and could not afford a compound therapist or therapy for menopause and NOW my face is starting to show it. I'm willing to try anything that would work for fin lines and the beginning stages of under my neck starting to droop. I can't afford a face-lift, so what do you recommend?
Probably make appointment with Dr Tassone to see if you are still a candidate for hormone therapy. It would at least stop the estragen deficiency long term. I use good rx and get amazing discounts on my hormones through pharmacy. I do without other luxuries for my health. It's do able and worth it.

thanks for explaining. most my friends in their 40s are low in estrogen. i had none until I got off trisprintec and now my estrogen and testosterone are up but still low. going to try femmenessence.
Thank you for telling us this. I have Alloy M4 right now, but am also on HRT, so I don't need it. Saving my $. However, Hydroquinone is banned in the EU, Australia, and Japan. So, I don't understand why you would recommend it.
It would be awesome to find someone like you in Canada. What’s your thoughts on testosterone post menopausal for no libido? I have some concerns about hair growth and acne.
Alloy does have a research study…. double blinded and placebo controlled…..on their website of their M4 estrogen face cream showing statistical significant changes over 12 weeks with 86 subjects between 50-60…Asian, African American, and Caucasian. Further there is a recent doubled blinded and placebo controlled study not associated with any company that showed statistically significant changes. Maybe you should do a bit more research.
Maybe you should buy swamp land in Florida if you think they’re study is a good one. The studies are garbage with weak numbers and they don’t prove anything again saying that if you have adequate estrogen levels this product is complete garbage and a waste of money
Oh yeah the study that had 30 patients per arm and their measurement was a photo which is totally subjective not a biopsy which is what is needed complete trash

Yes I read it and its complete trash but the beauty is that you can waste your money on whatever you want and tehy MyAlloy team is hoping they can pull the wool over your eyes with the partially educated that think they can read a study so they only had 30 subjects in each arm which is garbage and t wasnt peer reviewed so that males it equally garbage and they didnt set the limitations in their review because again people like you will think its a good study.
TAH BSO 17 yrs ago- was on 625 mg Premarin for 14 yrs. My face had an extreme and rapid loss of collagen. I kind of slightly think the M4 if helping but I could be delusional…
THANK YOU!! Can you take a look at Barbara Hoffman "Help for Hormones"? She has a "Menopause Cream" with Red Clover and Progesterone in it. I admit, I've been using it and finally sleeping at night (I was only getting 2-3 hours... if that a night while working FT) I was desperate. I'm torn on what I should do, if it's working should I continue? I want to ensure I'm getting the long term benefits of HRT. Thanks for your help & info. Greatly appreciate the education.

I''ve been using MUSLEY Age Repair Cream and have gone through two bottles and it didn't do squat! (I'm 57) I'm also on HRT. I'm sticking to that along with my tretinoin, vitamin C and peptides. (occasional growth factors) Also, how do you feel about the compounded tretinoin vs the regular tretinoin's? I'm using the Musely compounded tretinoin. Does one work better than the other or does it matter? Thank you for this video! You're saving me money and I'm tired of all this marketing hype!
I use regular Tretinoin…my brother in-law brought a bunch of it back from India while he was still a pilot. It’s 0.05%, and is in the same tube that is available here…I use it twice a week. I’m 75 and look nowhere near my age; however, I also use bioidentical HRT, work out 2 hours every day, (it’s my idea of fun), eat organic, stay away from manufactured foods, etc…. My passengers who are dermatologists all said the same thing…Retin-A is still the KING when it comes to skin care. That and peptides.

What is a holistic gynecologist? Did you go to traditional medical school for gynecology? What is your education? Do you have facts to back your opinion?

Your limited vocabulary, devoid of even the most basic medical terminology, belies your education. Shame on you for misleading the public with your bizarre rhetoric so you can make a buck. I appreciate your efforts to educate women on HRT, especially on the need to find reliable research to backup the claims companies make on their products. Instagram and UA-cam are not necessarily good resources for medical information but unfortunately seem to have influence on women seeking answers that they are not getting from their physicians.
What is your opinion of cyclical HRH? Using estradiol patches and progesterone orally?
