Its not really a mystery why people are skirting by the rules when the FDA and medical field as a whole is 100% corrupted and doesnt get people the help they need either by keeping medications from them or prescribing them wrong ones that might hurt them.
When I started menopause and couldn’t sleep at all for months, years, on end, and lived in a provider desert…and Tele-doctoring wasn’t very big yet, I used the OTC brand Emerita Progesterone cream every evening, usually on the insides of my arms, 1/4 tsp, before going to bed. And I can 100% attest that it absolutely helped me sleep. I would have died without it. It isn’t a huge amount of progesterone, but it really helped. I’m an osteopath for over 30 yrs, I have a little background in health science, and can attest that this was the only thing that worked. A 4 oz tube has 450 mg of USP Progesterone per ounce = 20 mg per 1/4 tsp (pea size) Now I live in a place with better health care providers and am on prescription progesterone. But at the time, it was a God send for me.
OTC products can and do work for many people. Big Pharma doesn't like folks taking health into their own hands, cuts into their profits. I used Anna's Wild Yam cream when in peri and it stopped the flushing in a day. I never did that well with prescription bhrt creams. I know many who say prescription hormones worked great and many who say otc works great. We are all different. Yes, there are many charlatans out there, but I don't trust big pharma either.
This has been my one "issue" with cycling hormones--that I haven't seen *any* science at all in support of it. There are a couple of individuals who strongly encourage/endorse cycling/rhythmic dosing of hormones, on is an MD, and she says that progesterone down regulates estrogen receptors, and that cycling off P will up regulate those receptors. I can see how it'd make sense, *but* I'd reeeally like to see actual science backing that up. How do we actually know that P down regulates receptors?? I don't have a dog in this race (other than I want to be/feel well!) but I just want the facts. As you've said Dr. T, it really feels like the Wild West out there right now with respect to HRT--but, I guess, at least we're moving in the right direction!
I am postmenopausal 62, had total hysterectomy 3 years ago, take 200 mg progestererone capsule rectaly and vaginal estriol 2x per week for dryness. My insomnia stopped after starting progesterone❤
Do you take the regular progesterone capsules, the beige oval shaped ones from the pharmacy, and use them rectally? I happened read about this in a trans forum while researching. It was thought that it absorbs better than if taken orally. So I’m curious…as my doc thought it wouldn’t work when I brought it up., but I wanted to try it vs oral going through the liver.
@@CCOREY5 yes i use bioidentical progesterone capsule with Carthamus tinctorius oil in gelatin capsule. This is the form being manufactured and sold in my country. The absorbtion is just like using it vaginaly. It was my choice to use it this way because i use the vaginal estriol . I read a lot of study about that you have good benefit for sleeping if you take it oraly because your liver converts it to allopregnenololone which is a gaba agonist, induces sleep. In my case it helps me relaxing, sleeping takint it this route. I suppose we are all different but it is worth a try.

Full hysterectomy in 2012. BRCA1 positive. Do I still need progesterone? Been told by a FMD that I should still have some. A lot of stress and anxiety in my life. Very fatigued and do not sleep.
Cyclic progesterone worries me. I would fear it would cause typical moodiness doing it that way just like PMS. And then I worry that a daily dose would override the benefits of estrogen. Thank you for helping educate us on progesterone. (I don't have a uterus, but I do recognize the physiological benefits of progesterone.)
Progesterone regulates both ER alpha and ER beta receptors you take it constantly all your doing is down regulating your estradiol. P only occurs at the last half of the cycle naturally in the female body not all the time. It’s best to take at least a few day break every month from progesterone

Progesterone supports and improves thyroid function. I’ve tested bloods and tracked physical assessments (body temp and resting heart rate) alongside the use of it. Progesterone is a saviour to women. It frees you from the gaslighting of the mainstream medical system that think ‘Estrogen’ is the answer to all hormone problems and the irresponsible prescribing of it. Being in surgical menopause, I couldn’t get progesterone prescribed because it’s seen to only ‘protect the lining of the uterus’, ONAS creams (which are not wild yam they are micronised progesterone) have been transformative for my hormone health. There seems to be quite a lot of misinformation within this video, after having deeply studied the role of progesterone, there is plenty of research to argue against the claims made here about it.
