Choosing The BEST Focal Length For Your Lens (Photography Quick Chat)

Today I want to share my thoughts and experience of choosing the perfect focal length, especially for your prime lenses. Getting the right focal length will help to improve your photography by allowing you to get the right lens and start familiarizing with how tight and how wide is that lens. Furthermore, it will save you a lot of money down the road by not buying lenses with focal lengths that you probably don't need.

Why always making a reference to FF when talking to an M43 audience about M43 lenses? I only shoot M43, so FF is meaningless to me. This equivalency thing got to stop one day.

I shoot apsc too so it helps for multi sensor size shooter

It helps to have reference points in life, and in diverse disciplines and fields. FF equivalents makes it easy to talk about focal lengths with anyone, and is useful for using equipment you already have as visual reference, whether it be phone, compact camera or different camera systems with different sensor sizes. If someone talks about their compact 1" sensor camera having a FF equivalent range of 24-120mm, I know what that means, without having to do mental gymnastics or math.
Most people don't only shoot micro 4/3, even if you do, so no, it doesn't at all have to stop.
