Been through a few Shecters and LTDs but just can’t get along with XJ frets. My 7 string Legator acoustic has medium frets and it is so much easier to keep complex chord voicings in tune without huge frets essentially forming a scalloped fretboard.
Also you just got a bunk set of tuners or you need to loosen the screws in the knobs, i have this guitar and another with gotoh and my gotohs take more turning than the off brand, but that being said, wouldnt a higher gear ratio be preferential for tuning accuracy?
Yes higher ratio is better, that’s why this particular set of high ratio tuners just didn’t work well. Very odd considering I have a dozen other guitar with various brands of locking tuners that all work much better. 🤔
How would you compare this to the Tao? (I know your Tao was a 6 string). I purchased a Tao-6 recently and really struggling with its sound, despite loving the physical feel. Considering exchanging it for a 6 string C1 SLS.
Well you have to love the sound of active Fishman pickups (some people don't), but otherwise they are similar in feel. Also take into consideration the different brand of tuners. the Schecter branded ones on the C7 are very low quality in that the tuning ratio seems very low and imprecise. bottom line - consider that you may want to swap pups on the Tao, or swap tuners on the C1 SLS. The C1 is $300 less so not a huge difference in price and just as nice construction-wise imho. Lastly, I think the C1 is a sturdier option in the long run due to the 7 piece neck thru build. Yeah man. Good news is, they sent me a new set of tuners to compare. Once I get new strings on her, I'll do a follow-up vid with my results for anyone interested. That's the only thing holding me back from giving this Shcecter a 10/10.
@@digital360 I hope it's soon, because I've been thinking about buying this guitar. It's one of the few models they sell in a left-handed version. let me know.
Very nice, looks sick and great jam at the start (maybe a touch more of the B string would have been nice). Shame about the tuners and don't understand the lack of a case/bag at this price. PRS puts everybody to shame with their gig bag on much cheaper guitars. Just started looking at 7 strings which is how I found your channel 🤘. I tried the Keith Merrow KM7 Mk-III Legacy yesterday (unplugged). It was the first time I've tried a 7 string and the neck felt amazing. Barely noticed the extra width and it just felt like home. Overall it was just a really nice guitar and looking at the specs, I think the neck is the same profile as this. The price tag was pretty high at $3,299 Australian which looks to be about $500 more than this one.
Thanks broski and welcome! Yes you’re right a bit more B string on the next one. 😁 FWIW however, the Schecters (many of them) come with locking tuners and stainless steel frets while getting those features on a PRS is going to cost more. I plan on contacting Schecter customer service to see if they will do anything about these. I am planning to demo/review that Keith Merrow very soon too! Looks awesome imo.
@@digital360 thanks🤘🤘🤘 I'll keep an eye out for your demo then. It just screams metal with the trans satin black finish. Just wish I had the cash to get it.
Killer playing! I just got this guitar but i am having issues with the action. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd frets have string buzz unless the action gets up very high that its difficult to solo unless its just for rhythm. I am at a loss as what I'll need to do about it. Any advice from your end or a video it will be highly appreciated. Thank you
Thanks bro for the nice words! So I was wondering if you’ve adjusted the truss rod? I personally prefer my necks nearly totally straight. This will help to counteract the high action a bit. If that also doesn’t do much then you may need to have a new nut professionally installed and cut. I don’t trust myself to doing work on the nuts. Also check the nut height by pressing the strings down at the 3rd fret. There should be an ever so slight bit of space between the string and the 1st fret. If there is none then the nut is most likely cut to low already. Also can be fixed by shimming under the nut. Bottom line - I’d go to a guitar tech.
@Ingravity6232 your truss rod is too tight, loosen the truss rod, don't use the bridge saddles to adjust your action either, get your neck straight then adjust the saddles. Right now your neck is bowed
Guitar smell or tonal fragrance is the new boutique selling point. When you open up an old tweed hardcase to admire your daddy's strat you know what get? Hint... It's the same feeling you get when you spill paint in the garage. That's what people want to buy at guitar center.
How does the scale length have a single thing to do with the action? String joy has a tension calculator for a reason....just sayin
Nice sounds. Wich amp are you using for the distortion?
So for the main heavy rhythms it was Neural DSP Archetype Gojia x, and the leads were Archetype Rabea - all with stock IRs.
@@digital360 Thanks. Greetings from México city!

so, man, i bought it. my tuning mechanics are too sensitive
That’s good though. Rather that than what I had.
@@dusanjanek4422 are your frets level enough to get a nice low action?

Smells like teen spirit.
