People saying he is rude. I don’t think so. He is one of the nicest guys in the chess circuit. He is just an introvert. Also he is not so comfortable with the English language.
I can understand this. I'm a chinese and I went to Canada for 3 weeks in 2019, in a summer school of UBC. That's the first time I spoke English in a "English environment" and yeah, I was pretty nervous and shy to spoke English, worrying about my grammar, pronunciation and other stuff. I'm pretty sure Ding is facing the same issues here.
I don't think that 2800 elo guy doesn't know english. What he lacking is a courage to talk in front of such cutie of an interviewer. Speaking from a personal experience, my knees would shake if i were in his position
He's from a different culture. I've also noticed traveling around Asia that they don't do all the thank you stuff when there's nothing to thank the other person for.
Liked him for his genuine informal behaviour. Ding is not pretentious … nor a show off person. Well I am an Indian, but like this Chinese guy for what he is.
You all need to understand- he’s opposite of rude. He’s a gem of a guy. Chess players aren’t politicians or actors to play people and have social norms.
Ok so English isn’t his first language and him walking away when she says “thanks” kind of implies the interview is over… so I see no problem with this
This kind of behavior is actually quite common and socially acceptable in China. Everything moves fast in china and interactions are often transactional. When the interview is done, transaction is over, no need to say anything of no information value, just a hum is good to move on to the next transaction.
Ding is an absolute sweetheart❤❤...he is far from rude😂..he is not comfortable with English language and does not understand how to react😮😮...I can sense his helplessness..
"thank you" is an immediate exit command for Ding
Yup 😂
This one is best to say👍

I don’t think he did that on purpose. However, I think he should continue to do so from now on. I love it.

It doesn’t matter. He’s just a chill guy
Chess players are known to be highly intelligent and yet socially awkward 😂
So you're saying I'm halfway there?
I’m pretty sure chess players have average iq
@@byroncascante6088 the world champions IQ is near 200 but sure I guess that’s average
