After the incident Arbiter was called by short and Nigel Short was declared a win by forfeit. Later the authority overthrew it as a second chance to Cheparinov and allowed a replay match the next day. Short won that game.

@@vinchinzo594 When a pawn (weakest piece) gets to the other side of the board (opponent's side) it becomes a Queen ( the strongest piece) for practical matters even though you can choose any other one... Because of the time scramble, Hikaru's opponent takes the queen in advance hoping to promote soon but that's just something rude and impolite to do. Hikaru was mad lol. Always take the opponent's queen just when you are actually promoting

it's Kasparov who destroyed himself in this game. otherwise for the most part Kasparov had an insane advantage and he was the one dominating. one blunder is all it takes tho
garry had a huge advantage over vishy but he blundered horrifically - garry’s record over vishy also suggests garry was the stronger player in their games. that being said tho, they are both brilliant players whose strength of play i deeply respect.
