If the meteorologist would say " Well hello there good people, don't go outside today, we might have a little bit of a nippy weather, the Glourious spiral of heavy pain and death from doom has entered the vicinity" I would stay the fuck inside.
Leave it to Laci to have the dumbest idea... Even if this is sexism, it is entirely subconscious and cannot just be "encouraged against." How is she even still on a channel related to science...
Dear lord, you are inane. If it is subconscious, that is the problem. We are taught to be sexist at such a young age that it is ingrained in how we act. So, yes, you can encourage against it by changing someone's way of thinking and actions so that we do not subconsciously act in a sexist manner.

sasracer1 "Sexism," disregarding dictionary definitions that lack cause, is basically the perception of the results of social conditioning. As we see in the elderly generation with "racism," you cannot just encourage away the conditioning of a person. With sex it is far more difficult to weed out the biases. Comparing sex to race, sex has far more distinguished and document-able differences (this is excluding the racial pseudo-science of the 50s and before). Racism is easier to combat due to the differences being structural due to ancestral climate. Even without directly teaching about sex-based differences, most humans will develop these biases in how they perceives the other gender because of the obvious gender dimorphism. So in a sense, yes it is genetic and cannot be reversed.
Girl names sound less threatening than boy names. Hurricanes should be given bad ass names. This isn't about sexism it's about the fact that the names doesn't sound threatening. If anything don't use a french name, french just sounds too pretty....
Johan Danielsson In that case, fucking run. Other terrifying hurricanes could be: hurricane dethklok, dying fetus, slipknot, amon amarth, mastodon, etc. Or they could be based on heavy metal song names. that'd be scary too
They said they tested people by asking them questions about what they would do to prepare for hurricanes and they there was a clear trend that people would not take female named hurricanes as seriously
Natural selection states that they are being idiots and "sexist" therefore they die a horrific death of being impaled by debris or drown or get ripped apart by wind speeds :D
Alan Sun We call it mother nature after the creation myths of several cultures that compare the biosphere to a mother giving birth to life. Also, in some cultures you can find references to "father sun" as a symbol of providence.

how is it sexist to not take a giant ass wall of wind seriously just because it has a woman's name? really? "Oh god a hurricane is coming! Fucking run for the hills!" "calm down Jim, its named 'Lisa' its not going to do anything to us."
sasracer1 lol considering the vast majority of "people" imprisioned for violent crimes is men I'd say you need to take a step back and re-evaluate your logic. Don't think anyone would argue that Goliath sounds alot scarier than Georgia.
I just want to point out that the names for hurricanes are assigned years in advance. They make a list with names from A to Z (if we every have more than 26, we start a backup list of names). So stronger hurricanes have a 50/50 chance of being assigned a female name when it forms. And nowhere in this video do they state that stronger = deadlier. What they are saying is that people perceive the female names and thus the hurricane itself as weaker, and therefore don't prepare to the extent that they would have if it had a "stronger" masculine name. That's why it's more deadly.
Which is stupid if people hear the word Hurricane, it does not matter the name they know something is about to go down, Katrina caught people in South Florida by surprise by rapidly turning into a cat 1 just before it came onto shore, and then of course people in places like new Orleans people were stuck and could not get out. When Hermine came ashore people took it seriously despite the female name, people last night got out of there which is good because Ceder Key had 10ft of storm surge. Laci Green doing the classic Laci Green thing and taking a non sexist issue and somehow turning it into sexism
What about hurricane Irma? Literally the LARGEST hurricane evacuation in history. Women names aren't "more deadly" than male names. Take Gilbert, Gert, Cesar, Mitch (second deadliest hurricane in the Atlantic of all time), and Matthew. In other regions, Paul, Haiyan, and Phalian were all male names that killed at be least 400 people. Dora (the storm used in the introduction) wasn't even bad, killing 0 and causing no damage!
I'm sorry, I started watching DNews for the cool science stuff. There as developed a clear feminist undercurrent to this channel in the last couple months, and I am not interested in that. Third strike and now DNew is out of my watching list.
You've noted that males and females get treated differently, despite having the same rights? Gender inequality is no longer a problem of politics. It's a problem of upbringing and the mentality we instill. So teach your kids to be equals, and do not advocate being sexist. Make sure those you call your friends don't either. It's simply because it's the old ways stuck in our heads, and people need to spread the word.
Yes skystarry, I have noted that men get the crap end of the stick in a lot of ways, some from before feminism, some BECAUSE of feminism. Yet instead of trying for equality as they claim they do, feminism is actually MAKING THINGS WORSE! And morsray, facts are facts only when they are facts. Things like rape statistics, the wage gap, equal employment, equal education, and rape statistics are about how you work with and interpret information. While it might be a valid conclusion that people react to storm names differently, that actually says nothing about my underlying point that DNews has begun reporting gendered topics in the last 3 months. Which calls into question the neutrality and impartiality of the DNews team. Something that may not matter much as an entertainment channel, but something that should be very important where science is concerned. But I've already noticed that people have a tendency to shut off their brains where feminism is concerned, so I expect to get vitriol rather than reasoned responses.
Better yet le'ts use psicopaths and mosnters names for the hurricanes, Jack the ripper Hurricane or charles manson hurricane or godzilla hurricane or Cthulhu hurricaine, that will get you in to a shelter ASAP.
Calling something a Hurricane is terrifying in the 1st place, I just don't understand how a society became so stupidly sexist. Seriously its just so weird!!!!...
Bertha actually sounds more threatening than Reginald, but yeah when you showed the thing, Victor does seem scarier than Victoria, although Victoria is just a very frail sounding name, sorta like Reginald is not intimidating at all.
i don't think its necessarily sexism its just that female names are typically more cutesy i mean sandy you'd think aww look at that cute little thing and then Reginald you'd be like oh hell no. We should just start using woman names like Olga or shebear.
Its not the sexism that's the problem, its the stupidity of anthropomorphising a physical phenomenon. (the properties being projecting on to the hurricane may or may not be sexist, but that's not really the point is it?)
This is stupid to even debate. Who cares. People in this world have too many hang-ups about things like this. We should be spending our time with real issues and concerns.
We should give them names that we associate with things we all rather run for. Like: "Hurrican Sewage", "Hurrican Floater", "Hurrican Vomit", "Hurricane Rotten eggs"
Keeping on the sexist theme id like to say that these 2 girls are probably the least annoying and most entertaining girls iv found on the internet. most girls seem to try to hard to be cute, or funny, or crazy and they just seem awesome. you girls rock, keep it up.
Zarbain Actually when you say feminists you speak of highly radical feminists. There are a huge number of feminists who are aware that both men and women are trapped within a sexist culture and that it affects men as well. Feminism is still used because of the legacy of the term and ideology, but I get why people have issue with the naming now.
grimfang999 I know that there are a number of feminists that understand just because men didn't give rights for a big chunk of history doesn't mean you need to steal all rights from men now like some feminists think. Just the specific feminists that are fucking insane pop out a little more and taint it heavily.
If someone called a hurricane Black Death - Blood storm or Satan's Soul i'm pretty sure everyone would leave, though i suppose they might not comb back
Well, to be fair, from what I understood from the video, the experiments only gave one thing away about the hurricanes- the names. Knowing this, it's hard to imagine any other reason the severity predictions would differ. Of course, I don't know that much about the study, so if this is false, I take my words back.
YayChocolateYay I'll give you the hypothetical scenarios the study posed, but when it comes to how people physically prepare for any hurricanes, there is nowhere near sufficient evidence to show anything. They used 47 hurricanes and "the female-named hurricanes produced an average of 45 deaths compared to 23 deaths in male-named storms" The problem with this statistic is it doesn't show the deviation from these averages and so it is entirely possible these statistics could be created from a few more extreme female-named hurricanes. And we could find a correlation with almost an infinite number of other variables. There simply is not sufficient evidence to say that the female-named hurricanes are considered weaker because of their name. Not saying this is all wrong, as I'm open to all possibilities, but this study is far from conclusive.
RomamaTheBread True. I was just pointing out the social experiment, and I definitely agree that this study doesn't have any solid evidence. It's still interesting, though. While a hypothetical scenario doesn't always inflict the same response as the actual event, this is still something to take note of, since for all we know, there may be people who's actions are influenced by this.
I think I read over on escapist that the studies also asked people how they would prepare for various hurricanes and it showed a trend of people just taking less care for female named hurricanes, treating them less seriously and hence the death rate being higher? If that's the case, the video maybe should have made it clearer.
To me, anything after the word hurricane is enough to flee the area. They should let xbox live users name hurricanes, we'd see stuff like, hurricane deathtoll4000 and hurricane psychokiller370 or hurricane d1ckb4lls.
There's always the possibility that, by coincidence, the prepared list of names assigned just happened to have a preponderance of female names given to storms that were more powerful and/or hit landfall in potentially more lethal places. It's the whole correlation/causation problem. All relevant variables must be accounted for and responsibly reported on.
Did anyone research the fact that all hurricanes are named at the start of the season. So this means hurricane 1 is A,hurricane 2 is B,and so on. We have no idea what kind of storm they will be, so there is no gender associated to the storm when it is named. What we do need to remember is that they are hurricanes and if you are in its path, pay attention. Thanks, I enjoy your videos as they are informative and amusing.
Australians know to hide no matter what the storm is called. Only 1 person died in Cyclone Yasi, and it was from a heart-attack. Yasi is a girls name too!
Nicky The Cat I just bring a big ass article about my complaint about this video and its ignorance they should know that hurricane Mitch is the deadliest storm to hit North America Mitch is a guys name
They should name the hurricanes after the names of demons from ancient religions. That should be intimidating to anyone. Using human names is stupid anyway, I guess a lot of people die because human names are used in the first place. Just making up a scientific name would probably work better as well.
We should use names of mythological gods. And name them according to how bad they are expected to be. E.j: An easygoing hurricane could be name H. Hermes while a very destructive one would be name HURRICANE APOPHIS GOD OF DEATH AND DARKNESS!
We should name them after fictional super villains then. people will get out of Dodge if we named storms like Hurricane Jafar, Hurricane Dalek Kan, Hurricane Doctor Claw or Hurricane Lex Luther. (you get the picture).
they really didn't even look at the fact that the hurricanes that killed the most people were also. idk. THE MOST DAMAGING AND STRONGEST. AKA THEY HAD HIGHER WIND SPEEDS AND MORE WATER FLOODING ALONG WITH LIGHTNING AND ALL AROUND MORE DANGEROUS THINGS HAPPENING
I will now solve this problem in a way no one could possibly object to by suggesting we just name the storms as if we were giving them codenames: - Hurricane Dead Sea, Hurricane Sea Salt, Hurricane Stockholm, Hurricane Blue Sky, Hurricane Mako (after the shark), "The General," Hurricane Faultline, Hurricane Titan, Hurricane Comet, Hurricane Sulfur, Hurricane Stovepipe, Hurricane Hyena, Hurricane Mad Dog, Hurricane Copperhead, Hurricane Wendigo.
Name them after major battles in wars. That will have people taking them seriously. I would leave town for hurricane Gettysburg before leaving for hurricane Isabella.
DNews , Lacy or any of you at Dnews; Can you please make a video about what sexism means, since many seem to think it is about "having sex" or "hitting women" in this comment section. While the definition is very different, it is about generalizing and stereotyping. Help my brain burns
I always thought the tradition of naming hurricanes was stupid anyway. I mean really, "everyone board up the doors and windows, Bob is coming" sounds more like an annoying relative than a dangerous storm. We don't name other natural disasters, we don't have Earthquake Bill or Tornado Sue, or Sink Hole Steve
I am DAMN sure that if we name hurricanes to be more menacing people would prepare better for them. I would be making bunkers and preparing for post apocalypse warfare if I knew Hurricane Glassass Reaper is coming to town.
Or we could just educate people about hurricanes. If people are judging a classification of storm renowned for it's destruction based on the sound of its name, somewhere along the way society has failed in this country. The name should be irrelevant to anyone with basic knowledge of hurricanes. I base my decision on the category of a storm.
I find deadly in thsi conrtexz misleading. It is making it seem that because we name then, they become more deady. It is actually the ignorance of people thinking that hurricains' da,age ios caused by names.
The fuck is this, I'm british and have fortunately never had to encounter a hurricane, but if i did, at the faintest whiff of one forming i know id freak and prepare the crap out of myself out of fear no matter what name the damn death cloud was given why does that even freakin matter to people? ugh it baffles me
I say leave the practice alone and let Darwinism do its thing. By the way, I'm giving this video a thumbs down because Laci and Tara didn't make out on screen.
really it sounds like laci just did not want to do this episode at all.... the tone of her voice gives it away that she is uncomfortable talking about this and even second guessed herself on almost every point. its clear this was a script that she simply has no choice but to read and tried to give it her best but really her internal screaming showed threw all this the whole time...
Bertha sounds so much more deadly than Reginald. Reginald reminds me of a nice regal old dandy with 10 grandchildren while Bertha, like a lot of other Germanic names, is a stereotypical dated hag name.
tera. im seriouse. please quit this show. iv said it before. you are alright to watch every now and then. but really you are full of BS half the time and you aren't cut out for this job at all. i do not know why you got it in the first place.
Solution: name all hurricanes really really vulgar explicit and messed up names. Reason? Hurricane Anal Pounder sounds a lot more terrifying than hurricane charlie
Why not give hurricanes abstract names like "death spiral of suffering" or "pain bringing clouds of hate"
*FIST BUMP*
nice XD.
don't forget to add "of doom" in the end too
ändå and "Glorious" "Glorious spiral of deadly low pressure doom"
True people would take notice then
If the meteorologist would say " Well hello there good people, don't go outside today, we might have a little bit of a nippy weather, the Glourious spiral of heavy pain and death from doom has entered the vicinity" I would stay the fuck inside.
We should name hurricanes after brutal historical figures like Bloody Mary, Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Jack the Ripper, etc
Leave it to Laci to have the dumbest idea... Even if this is sexism, it is entirely subconscious and cannot just be "encouraged against." How is she even still on a channel related to science...
Because obviously sexism is genetic and cannot be reversed.
Dear lord, you are inane. If it is subconscious, that is the problem. We are taught to be sexist at such a young age that it is ingrained in how we act. So, yes, you can encourage against it by changing someone's way of thinking and actions so that we do not subconsciously act in a sexist manner.
Matthew Harrity Taught to be sexist? Social conditioning on the basis of gender and sex is not precisely the same as sexism. Biological differences between the sexes is present. The only way to "encourage against" a bias based on sex, and gender related thoughts, would be to quit teaching differences. That is, to stop this you would have to ceases to teach scientific conclusions. Fundamentally changing how people are taught and perceive information is not encouraging. It is stupid to even draw such a conclusion.
sasracer1 "Sexism," disregarding dictionary definitions that lack cause, is basically the perception of the results of social conditioning. .
The first part of the name "Hurricane" isn't enough to take it seriously?
I don't know about anyone else, but if there was a hurricane named "Bertha", I would get the fuck out of there
HURRICANES SHOULD BE NAMED AFTER SURNAMES.
So just give all the hurricanes guy names and save lives, easy right?
Lets just name the next hurricane Hurricane Armageddon
I am appalled that people would react that way.
Tbh Bertha sounds more threatening than Reginald
That's so crazy!! If I heard a hurricane was coming I'd be terrified whatever it was called!
How many people would be killed in "Hurricane Burrito"?
Here is a fine example of people having too much time on their hands/needing something to complain about. No one cares.
Girl names sound less threatening than boy names. Hurricanes should be given bad ass names. This isn't about sexism it's about the fact that the names doesn't sound threatening. If anything don't use a french name, french just sounds too pretty....
"Because when women hurricanes come and go they go with you car, your house, your kids, and half your income"
xD !
you win the internet
Sir you have my like, Dang.
HEY WOMAN DONT KILL
Oh i laghed thow XD
Must... resist... female stereotype comment!
So true
This female agrees with you
Somebody already did it for you
Just name hurricanes using german words
hurricane Lebensmüde sounds terrifying
Lol.
Hurricane Jaeger
Nazi hurricane
hurricane Luftkissenboot
***** I think quite a few people would want to jump into that one, including me
Name them after death metal bands. Nobody is going to try to ride out Hurricane Acid Bath or Tropical Storm Skullfucker.
That's brilliant!
Please become a meteorologist. I want to hear about hurricanes Behemoth and Sepultura.
Heavy meal bands could also work out. What would you say about the hurricane Megadeath?
Johan Danielsson In that case, fucking run.
Other terrifying hurricanes could be: hurricane dethklok, dying fetus, slipknot, amon amarth, mastodon, etc.
Or they could be based on heavy metal song names. that'd be scary too
Peusterokos1 The hurricane Skin O´My Teet.
We should name the next hurricane - Hurricane "Arnold Schwarzenegger" for people to finally take it seriously.
hurricane Arnold is coming....GET TO DA CHOPPAH !!!
stiimuli my god, you had to.
upgrader99 Nah Norris is overrated as f___
Hurricane "Chuck Norris".
Anukrit Lamichhane
but the meme is not!
aaaaaahhhhhhh... was there any science in what they were talking about?
They said they tested people by asking them questions about what they would do to prepare for hurricanes and they there was a clear trend that people would not take female named hurricanes as seriously
Then those people are idiots
Check the links in the description.
Natural selection states that they are being idiots and "sexist" therefore they die a horrific death of being impaled by debris or drown or get ripped apart by wind speeds :D
Psychology, my friend. Psychology is as valid a science as the three main fields, as long as it has the research to support it.
Then why the Fuck we call it mother nature not father nature? Is that also somehow sexist?
Yes, but you could start calling it father nature. Or simply nature.
Alan Sun We call it mother nature after the creation myths of several cultures that compare the biosphere to a mother giving birth to life.
Also, in some cultures you can find references to "father sun" as a symbol of providence.
Because it "gave birth" to us. Are you really dumb or just playing ?
Remember she was quoting mythology not recent times.
"Evs" Block
last time i checked a man is necessary for procreation. women cant "give birth" without a man.
how HOW the fuck is this "sexist" in ANY WAY
YEA! I didnt see any containing of sex!
Wow...
They said it at nearly the start, "because people do not take them seriously because of sexism." Disregarding the fact that the study seems entirely stupid.
Judging the reactions of people not in a hurricane area watching the news like those in hurricane areas will is a level of ignorant I haven't seen i a while outside of comment sections.
Laci says everything is sexist....
Will B. Sounds about right
we should give them villain names, such as sauron, voldemort or ganondorf
I know that you are trolling , still choosing the right femele villain names it would be efective as well, names such as maleficent, lady deathstrike, cruella (de vil), sadako, shodan or xenobia
112DOB
plus it'd be discriminative against people who have noses.
Yeah, hurricane Plankton :D
There was a Hurricane Otto,so does that count as Hurricane Octavio?
bigbardos hurricane Robbie rotten
I assume it's just natural selection going its course by getting rid of people who don't take serious things seriously because of stupid reasons.
This made me grin evilly XD
I like the way you think! Especially since I just posted a Darwinism reference myself! 👍 LOL!
Hurricane David

Trin5ty thank you another hurricane need I’ve been waiting for a person to mention hurricane Mitch
Fico, Adolph, Knut, Ismael, Manuel.
And now add Micheal and Dorian to that list too.

Hurricane Obama.
I think you forget two problems:

Yes, Bane and then a number.

Since when did this channel become Feminist Frequency?
Once Anthony left.
***** He was feminist as well. OOHHHH SHITT
***** Yeah, but he wasn't a radical one.
ClTRlS Come on now.. This sounds hella arbitrary. In this video I heard no word out of their mouth that seemed "radical".
***** You know what I mean though.
for some reason Bertha
cause it reminds me of a mean nanny
I apologize to anyone named Bertha :(
Thanks for the laugh
The image in my head was different.... All I can say is... Category 5+....
Bertha was also the name our Physical Education teacher gave his gym shoe, the one he used to administer corporal punishment. Every boy in my school was scared of Big Bertha.
Should name the storms after politicians lol
That would get people to move out of the way! lol
Hurricane Obama. Kills 200,000. What would be ironic is if it was in the South.
Sir laughsalot people are recovering after senator Santorum ripped through the east coast this morning, damages are still being accessed.
Sir laughsalot people are recovering after senator Santorum ripped through the east coast this morning, damages are still being accessed.
Hurricane Gingrich? Or would that be Hurricane Newt?
How is it sexist to not be as intimidated by girl names than a guys name that doesn't make any sense... =/ This channel doesn't even discuss science anymore
How is it sexist to think that men are more violent and imposing than women?
Hmm, lemme think for 0 fucking seconds on that one.

When I hear about a hurricane I care more about the category it is than the name.... Just my thoughts... I thought that would be umm... COMMON SENSE.
It is sexist for me to think males are more dangerous than females. Damnit
Better yet le'ts use psicopaths and mosnters names for the hurricanes, Jack the ripper Hurricane or charles manson hurricane or godzilla hurricane or Cthulhu hurricaine, that will get you in to a shelter ASAP.
think we would run out of those names
Keeping on the sexist theme id like to say that these 2 girls are probably the least annoying and most entertaining girls iv found on the internet. most girls seem to try to hard to be cute, or funny, or crazy and they just seem awesome. you girls rock, keep it up.
is this sexist against men or women?
Both, sexism is a double-edged sword.
alejandrinos A double-edged swords that people completely disregard a half of it *cough*Feminists*cough*.
Zarbain lol could not agree with u more
Zarbain
Actually when you say feminists you speak of highly radical feminists.
FeministNews.
They should name them all hurricane Sharkeisha, everyone will gtfo
During a Hurricane, I like to spin around really fast and toss my furniture around so the hurricane thinks I am one of them and leaves me alone.
Hurricane George Bush II - Could not Resist :)
If someone called a hurricane Black Death - Blood storm or Satan's Soul i'm pretty sure everyone would leave, though i suppose they might not comb back
That could work. It would be like using heavy metal band names.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_heavy_metal_bands
Hoorah for more correlation causation fallacy.
Hurricanes can be bossy sometimes.
Just name them boring names like 2014-A and 2014-B.
they give them human names so people remember them, hurricane Katrina is easier to remember than hurricane 2010-D
Then /nobody/ would take them seriously.
You're full off ideas, Danica. :)
Thanks, I enjoy your videos as they are informative and amusing.
i allways thought female hurricanes to be more deadly.Cathrina just pops in my head.
We had Isabel here. She was mean
Yea i made a mistake.I dont know how much damage Sandy did because i live in EU but i know Katrina did damage.
Australians know to hide no matter what the storm is called. Only 1 person died in Cyclone Yasi, and it was from a heart-attack. Yasi is a girls name too!
MITCH WAS DEADLIER and the deadliest storm to hit North America and also btw hurricane sandy caused less damage than Katrina
use weapons names like hurricane colt, hurricane a-bomb and so. I believe people would be scared if "the A-bomb" was approaching the town.
Hurricane Harvey and Andrew: HELLO?!
1000 subs and no vids? Terrell White Allen Gilbert Stan Dennis Ivan Charlie David Isidore Ike Dean Felix and many many more
1000 subs and no vids? Terrell White Hurricane Mitch ring a bell
Hurricane Harvey and Ike are the 2nd and 4th most destructive hurricanes in US history
We need to name hurricanes like 'death megatron 5000', everybody will be running for their lives then.
i've come out more stupid from this video
I'm not sure its possible for someone to be /that/ stupid.
Your theory was wrong.
Why don't we name hurricanes after Greek gods? Some female gods out rule male gods. Also, it would be so cool!
I found this video and no one has commented in 2 years. I'm waiting for the shit storm waiting when they realize Laci is here.... ._.
Nicky The Cat I realized and it's messed up
Nicky The Cat I just bring a big ass article about my complaint about this video and its ignorance they should know that hurricane Mitch is the deadliest storm to hit North America Mitch is a guys name
Change the names to something along lines of "Shit bitch, you best get out this place"
That should work fine.
I want to see a hurricane named Cersei. That girl will pack a punch!
It should be CerSEA, get it? Cause water, and rain, and....ok i'll stop....
Meh, not funny, lol. Cersei is that bitchy queen regent from game of thrones, if you didn't know.
Hailey Hirsch deserves more thumbs up lol
Hurricane's named after well known criminals. Or candy.
Hurricane skittles, Hurricane Oh Henry!
No, the actual reason is because WE ONLY USED FEMALE NAMES UNTIL 1979
They should name the hurricanes after the names of demons from ancient religions. That should be intimidating to anyone. Using human names is stupid anyway, I guess a lot of people die because human names are used in the first place.
Just making up a scientific name would probably work better as well.
"Hurricane Mephistoles"
>gets out of country
Because when they come they come hot and wet and when they go they take everything with them 😂
We should use names of mythological gods.
Gosh. Who cares about the damned names.
hurricane CHUCK NORRIS!
everyone will nail their windows shut
death rate 0!
because they all prepared
Of course, of course we should protect those who don't take female named hurricanes seriously. But maybe...
they really didn't even look at the fact that the hurricanes that killed the most people were also. idk. THE MOST DAMAGING AND STRONGEST. AKA THEY HAD HIGHER WIND SPEEDS AND MORE WATER FLOODING ALONG WITH LIGHTNING AND ALL AROUND MORE DANGEROUS THINGS HAPPENING
I will now solve this problem in a way no one could possibly object to by suggesting we just name the storms as if we were giving them codenames:
-
Hurricane Dead Sea, Hurricane Sea Salt, Hurricane Stockholm, Hurricane Blue Sky, Hurricane Mako (after the shark), "The General," Hurricane Faultline, Hurricane Titan, Hurricane Comet, Hurricane Sulfur, Hurricane Stovepipe, Hurricane Hyena, Hurricane Mad Dog, Hurricane Copperhead, Hurricane Wendigo.
They should give hurricanes frightening names or names based on horror movies, for example insidious2912 or Carrie5714 etc., number suggests date.
Lamest... intro... evaaaaah! And! Lamest... outro... evaaaaah! Just let Trace do the presenting already.
Hurricane Bertha makes me think it's exceptionally large (Big Bertha) and Reginald makes me think it's just as dangerous yet somehow more dignified.
How about giving them really scary names? Like hurricane deathMegatron9000? Or Hurricane Pyramid Head?
I find deadly in thsi conrtexz misleading. It is making it seem that because we name then, they become more deady. It is actually the ignorance of people thinking that hurricains' da,age ios caused by names.
Just name them after board games but throw in the word Hurricane. Hi Ho Hurricane-o. Hurricane! Hungry Hungry Hurricane. Shelters & Hurricanes. xD
Just name all the Hurricane scary name!!!
Hurricane Death
Hurricane Destruction
Hurricane You gon' die
