Cowboy coffee can make even a non coffee lover enjoy a cup. The boiling process does a great job of both extracting maximum flavour, but also somehow it takes away any harsh or bitter flavours and just makes a nice smooth coffee. It's almost counter intuitive to the "primitive" way its made, paring the cowboy method with a French press totally eliminates any worry of grinds in the cup, but really as long as you don't pour too fast, or right to the bottom of the pot, the cool water does a good job at sinking the grinds to the bottom. Another great video as useual, albeit a short one lol Edit, I just realized that somehow this 5yr old video randomly came up, for some reason I thought it was a new video until I noticed the date after posting lol
Have you tried making Swedish coffee? Smash a raw egg with coffee grounds and throw it in the pot with water. It forms a disc and a smooth cup of coffee.
+Kent Survival ...love your clips mate...used to live in SOUTH AFRICA now live in u.s.a ...used to do alot of backpacking in s.a...and quite a bit here in u.s....got a good mate that lives near the forest of dean in U.k....would really like to make it to England one day and go backpacking in dartmoor... I like the look of it and the tors ...keep up the good work mate
lmao...there is no fuss, except you removed the acid burn that you can sometimes get. diggin' the hat though brother! i also see that chair you made coming in handy...that's the biggest props you get from me brother, you managing to get your woman out there. lol...some of us can't. haha, cheers!

Wow that coffee will make your hair stand up...again love your spot for a shelter...the tree you picked is awesome....can’t wait for your next video.☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️T.Gunz
Did you check the 10th see if it's got any places it's going to leak did you get your bed all set up where's all your camping stuff I'm completely lost now now you got a damn beard
I was watching closely to see if he really knew how , ive drank lots made in a gallon can ,old coffee can , when I was a kid , I saved 1pount prince Albert tobacco cans to cook and make cowboy coffee in . Those were the days before everything was bad for us m ill be 65 next September
Andy just been catching up on your older posts .got to say this one reminded me of Kevin Costner in dances with wolves lol . Keep up the great work very enjoyable to watch .yourself Simon and Wildebeare best on you tube
Andy!!!! Your hair! Your beard! :) I've only been watching your videos for the last year and it was a big surprise seeing you with hair and a long beard! Still as handsome as ever! Cute video!
They are hard to find, but some thing that used to be used, is a coffee soc.The one I found was a tad bit pricey, for what it was, so I made my own. Works good. The bag, made from canvas, has two pull cords so I can tie it shut , it holds around cup-cup.5, so you can use it to make herb tea, or coffee. Don't care for instant coffee.
@@KentSurvival. I like Kent Rollins too. He has some excellent cowboy recipes, as you do too , love watching your channel because you explain what you’re doing. I think and I’m probably not the only one , that you should put out a recipe book to sell on your channel. Keep up the good work , and if you ever run out space , I would love to purchase some of you equipment.
Been a subscriber for many years and love your content! I remember waching this vid when it first dropped. My you tube feed is showing me loads of your old videos for some reason!
I love the ritual of grinding and preparing the pot for cowboy coffee. It's a strong coffee but I like that taste. Nice to see your lady out buddy looked a beautiful day.
Great video on making cowboy coffee and congratulations on introducing your girlfriend Nico she's like a Angel , I tried cowboy coffee it is nice , nice day for filming
I’ve been binge watching your channel. And I love it. I’m so excited to cook breakfast outside for the husband this weekend. Could you tell me where I could get a slate to cook on? Your channel is helping me through this pandemic. It’s like me and the hubby are on a home vacation now. Thank you! Beautiful lass by the way.
Andy: Thanks for teaching me the proper way to make "Cowboy" coffee, I never heard of settling the grounds using cold water, I usually used an old sock to filter them. Never could figure out why my "Cowboy" coffee tasted like feet.😜🤢 ATB
Hello there. As I am a born & bred 'Yank' over here in "The Colonies", I had to remember that what YOU call a biscuit is really what we call a cookie. And I THINK what we call call a biscuit YOU call a SCONE. Despite the first bit of confusion here (WHERE'S THE FRIGGIN' BISCUIT?!?!), I really enjoyed the video, and especially the two of you enjoying the great outdoors together... nice!
YeeHaa! 🤠 I like mine with a dash of bourbon, but I usually cheat and take a coffee press. Great to see Nico in the video, Natalie is slowly getting used to me filming but prefers to be camera lady. All the best dude.
haha, yeah, its taken a year and a half but she's come around, lots of positive comments too so hopefully she'll be back. Is that Bourbon in the morning coffee ;) haha
Espresso beans, that many grounds, You should have been able to jump back to home, without use of motor vehicle, LOL !! I bet is was potent , LOL. Weird trick, when you put egg shells in after boiling, this helps the grounds settle to bottom of the pot. It works, I dunno why, but it does. That is how the old time cowboys, did it Here in the U.S., many moons ago! I have used this trick, when camping, and only have the old style pot to make coffee in. Be safe friends, Peace , John.
haha, not being a coffee drinker I def got a buzz. I did consider the egg shell thing but in Cowboy Kents words.. "I prefer my coffee and eggs separate" haha, may have to try it one day though. Thanks John
LOL. Yes I have watch is reviews before, straight up hard caliber. A Studebaker chuck wagon. How many people have that, LOL ! May I introduce to an acquaintance of mine, who has his own t.v. show , here in the state of Kentucky, U.S. He first hosted Ky afield, hunting and fishing show. Retired from that show, has A show about, raising your own animals, butchering them, raising your own vegetables , etc. He has episodes, called campfire cooking, but, his cabin is set up for Dutch ovens, and cast Iron skillets, as much as just fire grilled. Him and his wife, Also , fixes recipes inside the house as well. Cracking video...and it's great to see your girlfriend taking part and enjoying herself. Keeping 'er indoors happy is half the battle eh..? lol..!! I quite fancy giving it a go from the beginning, roasting the beans etc. I did watch another UA-camr doing it on here, can't remember who it was... Anyway, great stuff.....cheers 👍
haha, thanks Robert. If I was more a coffee person im sure id be tempted to do the roasting.. I did think about growing it once (its easier to grow than tea apparently haha)
Fortunately, I never saw this before your more recent videos. I can't stand channels that use the so very common annoying ass plucky guitar or banjo music. It's like there's a rule written somewhere that says you have to use that annoying music if you're making a wilderness video of any kind. Or anything to do with making knives, leatherwork, art ...frikin anything. Hence, it's annoying.
Super cowgirl going into the bush craft (they all tolerate our Bush craft) for cowboy coffee. Emeril made cowboy coffee w/ bourbon (Kentucky Busthead you probably would use Scotch), I make it my fall/early spring dinner bivouac. Tres bon champ de mouvement '21!!!
This just popped up in my recommended, a vid from 5 years ago . Lovely seeing your girlfriend out with you . Does she enjoy going out camping with you? I’m going to have to check out a few more of your old vids 👍
First ,you rocked the hat. A lot of people put on a cowboy hat and honestly look pretty “dorky”. Your hat fits you. Here in central Texas we love our camp coffee. My version is to put the coffee in a filter tied with dental floss or butchers twine and follow the boiling process with no cold water at the end.Cleanup is much easier and you can use a shallow kettle. Mine is a GSI. I like a half to a shot of whiskey, Gentleman Jack is my choice and it takes out the bitterness and gives me a rosier out look on my day after a couple. By the way good lookin girlfriend 😍
Nice one Andy and good to see you out with your other half. I used to be a coffee drinker then for some reason when I gave up smoking I started drinking tea 😁👍
Yep I like cowboy coffee and always dig out vids like this just to see if there is anything different and i have to say your coffee grinder is the best ive seen yet LOL perfect and i love it especially the draw now that is just class, I have no idea why you have seven thumbs down for this but I guess thats just the trolls playing up again. This is the first video ive watched of yours, going to watch a few more + 1 sub :-)
American question...do you call all cookies biscuits or are only certain ones called biscuits. Would you call it a chocolate chip biscuit? Asking for a friend.
Hi Vinny, all cookies are biscuits here, but a cookie (like Maryland cookies) are still cookies.. though they are still a type of biscuit haha, hope that helps, thanks for watching
great to see nico out with you on a video.. so that's basically the old english way of making coffee (which i guess makes sense). haven't tried the eggshell variant but if you've seen 'Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid' it can get get pretty hairy! ;)
Very nice to see your girlfriend Nico (sp?) in the video with you! As I am a bit OCD, I will ask this question. As you seem to go to the same spot each time, why have you not built yourself a proper table on which to prepare food or do other work? Not a criticism, just a question.
Thats a very good point Maggie haha, It was on the list of things to do but didn't get around to it. Im going to build a new camp in September - too hot at the moment though
Where did you leave the cowboy you stole that hat from? Just joking. But seriously, cowboy coffee is about the best coffee that I have had and I have had a lot considering I have been drinking coffee for about 43 yrs. I hope you enjoyed it. Great video
Well this is bloody spooky, i was just watching Kent's latest vid on Pork Chops where he gave me a very unexpected shout out and then i get your notification Andy and you are paying him respect on his Cowboy Coffee. lol. Great to see bushman and You Tubers all over the globe think alike hey, :-) Nice work brother and great to get the lady out and involved. Cheers Moose.
Some good eating for sure but Americans don't tend to leave their fat cap on chops like we do. Need the crackle mate, best part i reckon. lol. Cheers Moose.
Great video mate I'm a tea drinker my wife likes coffee very strong I'm hoping to get her out into the woods as well soon you's make a nice couple iv must of missed ya video on making the chair so will be looking for that to watch later atb jimmy 😎 😎
Kent Survival well if she started her own channel Id be watching her's not yours🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 But yeah good to have female perspectives in bushcraft. Especially if it gets a little competitive and Nic shows you up lol. I'm sure she will come up with ideas that add a nice perspective. Camp is always a bit rough and ready, bring a lady out and its, why don't you do..., and youll be why didnt I think of that. I hope this is the first of many and look foward to Nico getting into some projects on your camp.
Man I haven't had cowboy coffee since I was a teen. And I live in the southwest of the U.S. in phoenix Az. Glad its making a come back. Enjoy your channel, that would be cool if your girlfriend joins you on your channel. I love it when my wife goes out with me. Any way great episode man.
Thanks Ben... Its a pretty new concept to me so just had to try it.. them cowboys were on to something haha. Hope Nico makes another appearance soon :)
It's funny my great grand mother came to AZ on wagon train before Arizona was a state it was still a territory. She got to meet Wyatt Earp when she was like 6. Any way. That's how she made coffee she swore those filters were poisonous. Lol she was 101 when she passed and I was so glad she introduced me to cowboy coffee before she passed. It's strange having a direct link to such a lost part of bush craft history. Those mountaineers were some of the toughest people and we take for granted our modern conveniences today. Just so you know your show brought me back to a fond memory of one of my great grand parents I actually knew. Thank you. And your girlfriend. Made my day for sure.
Almost expected to see you run off for the proverbial in the woods! Strong morning coffee definitely has that effect on me! Looking forward to the beach vid - lovely spot you have there.
Wow Andy looked so different back then.
I dont know what it is, but your videos are so relaxing to me.
Thank you :) Glad you're enjoying them
Yeah, sort of like a monkey on cocaine playing the banjo until your hear explodes!
Ditto! ❤
I agree
Best reaction ever. “Is very coffee.eeeee”. Keep it up mate. Brilliant

Love the banjo reminds me of the movie deliverance or bluegrass music or both. Wiskey drinking music for sure!
Thanks Peter, had to use some banjo on this one :)
Have you tried making Swedish coffee? Smash a raw egg with coffee grounds and throw it in the pot with water. It forms a disc and a smooth cup of coffee.
Can't have cowboy coffee without a cowboy hat. Slainte lad .
I really like it but I just don't think you can get away with it day to day in England haha, thanks for watching

Slate only comes from two places in the UK, neither of them close to Kent. North West Wales ( Snowdonia) and The Lake District
Oh my goodness, your lady is a cutie pie. I'm so glad you have a special someone.

Nothing beats a good cup of coffee in the morning except a nice looking lady to share it with. All the Best.
isn't that the truth... except usually tea for me haha, thanks for watching Jeff
Coffee and biscuits in the morning, in the woods. What could possibly be better than that?
It was a good day for it too :) Thanks for watching Gary
I think you should change your UA-cam channel to braless in Australia and 😂
Omg Andy where’s your manners, always serve the lady first 🥊
perkin java is definitely how I make my coffee while camping too, sometimes add some Jameson or Baileys to it.
Sounds a good plan :) was a bit early for 'additions' on this one though haha, thanks for watching

Oh by the way I forgot to add this part to it you never do answer none of my comments so have a good day
American question...do you call all cookies biscuits or are only certain ones called biscuits. Would you call it a chocolate chip biscuit? Asking for a friend.

Nice one mate, I havnt seen it yet, will have to check it out later. Cheers for watching
Some good eating for sure but Americans don't tend to leave their fat cap on chops like we do. Need the crackle mate, best part i reckon. lol. Cheers Moose.
@@MOOSEDOWNUNDER we kept the fat in our chops in my house hold in texas growing up 🤔
Hi Andy/nico great video as usual, thought you would have gone full on cowboy with bacon and beans for breakfast atb Keith

Top vid mate, great to see you both out there enjoying it 👍
Keep bringing your lovely GF Andy. She will help bring sub count up
Thanks mate.. she's certainly easier on the eyes than my hairy mug haha
Kent Survival well if she started her own channel Id be watching her's not yours🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
But yeah good to have female perspectives in bushcraft.
What a great vid - cheers Andy & Nico. Brilliant 👍
Thanks very much Mark
Just done shoutout for your channel - 3000ft at the top of Tryfan 👍🏴⛺️
That coffee looked amazing! Great vids roll on the next 😁
Thank you very much :) the next one is gonna be a good one I think :)
Cheers for that. Awesome video, good on ya for bringing in a coffee expert to rate the coffee.
Almost expected to see you run off for the proverbial in the woods! Strong morning coffee definitely has that effect on me! Looking forward to the beach vid - lovely spot you have there.
haha, think I just about made it home ;) thanks.. can't wait to get back to the beach
