G'day mate from NZ, I have 2 permanent camps in my local forest, I have had them set up for nigh on 10 years. I have saws, axes, knives etc, and they have never been touched. My local forest is 80ks long X 30ks wide and rises to 1600metres, you can go for months without seeing anybody. I have sensor solar lights set up (keeps the pigs, goats and deer away). I even have a portable Gazebo set up at one camp, had to carry it up through dense bush to500metres. This is great for rainy days, can sit under it and not feel closed in. Because of the isolation, I can leave buckets of food etc and not have to worry about it. I even have trail cameras set up to see what local animals are in the area. Just thought that I would share that with you, Enjoyed your video. ATB Cheers from the mountains of NZ ☺☺
Nice one Cully, that's awesome! Yeah, the lack of land in the uk 🇬🇧 that's not owned or otherwise trying to be developed or poached.. Is quite small, although some real beautiful hidden treasures around the British isles, from forests to country parks and so on... But nothing quite on the scale of beauty and escapism of NZ, all is good tho man, thanks for watching and commenting.. Stay tuned for more along the way. (we've not long started the youtube, but been Nomads for donkeys, so we thought why not try to inspire some people whilst showing our day to day right. HAPPY HOPPING CULLY 👌🏼 👍🏼
@@loghoppers this is kinda what i meant. does not need to be big, make it half sublevel or 3/4 sublevel, use what nature provides, just a tarp as roof, like you have. you can do without, but its much more difficult. "my-self-reliance" guy did it without a tarp. i live in Vienna and there are places here in parks, where i could built something like that and they would never find it. just gotta be careful
I had a breakdown and needed to get away from it all. I worked out how to put a canopy over a two seater kayak so I could sleep on the water in the kayak. Carrying your stuff is easy and with a water filter water is not a problem. Security is less of an issue to because you don’t moor up where people can stumble upon you. Plus I kept moving regularly. I lived out of it for six weeks so I’m a lightweight in comparison to you guys.
I couldn't sleep on the ground and sit on the ground because it would really hurt my body. I find your lifestyle fascinating. I also feel quite angry that people in this country are told they're not allowed to live out wild. It shouldn't be anyone else's business how one chooses to live as long as they're being respectful and responsible to the environment. And let's face it, there are many people that live in houses that aren't. Living in a house is not what makes you a responsible, respectful adult. Happy hopping to all 3 of you

And what part of the country you in, the videos seem to be similar areas thx and look forward to more👍
@@Nofixedabode859 thanks Cully 👍🏼 yeah, good obs on the mats (first one to point it out 👌🏼) yeah, cut down is fine as the torso is core to keep warm and never really suffered cold legs in over 10yrs, but the bags much the same... Throughout spring, sum, aut, they can be a little too warm, however in winter they do the job just fine.. It's winter, we're supposed to feel the elements right? Good for the blood and circulation.. Tara came back with Spanish blood when beast of the east came, and although she's a champ... How do you source and maintain essential necessities, like water and food? Watee is heavy and tiring to lug around if you are not close to a natural water source and foraging for food in winter may not provide sufficient sustenance to maintain good health. How do you overcome these issues, particularly if the weather is bad and leaving your shelter means your likely to get soaked? Trying to get dry without a heat source must take a long time and be quiet unpleasant. Your videos are enjoyable to watch and interesting. 👍👍

Awsome video the pair of you! I came across your channel a few days ago now and had to instantly subscribe! Thank you so much for the heads up about having a secondary tarp under your tent, i wasn't aware of the effects of it causing a moisture layer in between. Thankfully, the times I've been out in my tent, the weather has been on my side. I've been laying a tarp under mine just to save the tent ground sheet from taking a beating. As you say, they are not the thickest of materials considering, but i think I'll probably pick and choose if and when i used a secondary layer now. Thanks very much for your content, both of you, Happy hopping!
Thank you, also just don't use a secondary on grass or fields as it tends to cause more issues for us personally as it causes more condensation and get puddles. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
@loghoppers Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep that in mind 😀 One off topic Question - what do you do about drinking water etc? Thanks for the reply 👍🏻 🙏🏻
Lol yeah, it's our duration track from back and forth all the time, not on a public track or path. Would be funny tho, but bikes can't get to where we are and the sensitivity of the 'doorbells' is designed to alert not hurt. We would certainly never place anyone from public or private at risk of harm due to our way of life. Thanks for commenting HAPPY HOPPING 👍🏼 👌🏼
what i dont really understand, is why you dont find an extremely hard to find spot and make a shelter out of wood with a stove. as you can see them making on videos on youtube. if it gets found, tough luck. if not then you dont need a tent.
I love camping but this lifestyle must be problematic. How do you do laundry? How do you shower? What about toilets? Are you taking a dump in the woods in the middle of a rainy night?
Please watch our Forest Launderette video, we shower just like everyone else. And yes, poop in the rain if we have to get out in the night... but very rare as have accustomed to our lifestyle over 10yrs lol. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
Well I'm glad thousands or millions of other people don't do this. It'd be kind of alienating if out walking in the countryside finding areas of other people's or public land effectively fenced off with wires and mousetraps. But you're able to get away with it as so few people do this I guess. But like I said if a significant percentage of the population did then the countryside would be ruined. Not passing judgment, just telling it like it is
We do not advocate being seen or heard, but yes... if everyone was like this, it would be a soup bowl. And not to mention, we don't everyone doing this... but to be fair, not many believe they can... so think we're safe for now lol. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
@@daveunsworth9931 awesome, cheers for your comment. We wouldn't necessarily say we're 'hiding' in the woods, the woods is a beautiful arena in which to exercise our nomadic lifestyle... Like how you living lived the same..going back 22 nov...one thing i disagree..when you say PRIVATE LAND...no land is private only stolen..all property is theft.. right to roam .. nature is for everyone...take the LAND not the jabbawacker..🏴☠️
Land was once not so long ago gifted or fought over between tribes and clans, also armies and officials still take it. Most people in these times have payed someone for their land, or at least decided not to sell it - so bare in mind its condition owes to their sacrifice.
In scotland. It tried to attack me but luckily I know kung fu, so I put into a secret death grip steven seagal taught me after I saved him from a rare albino polar bear.

I really hope you are doing it ok, but there is no justification for doing it on the backs of people like me.

But may I ask you both this, is there any part of you’s, that think, as you get older, this is going to get somewhat harder?? Or, does this not bother you or do you not think about it?? Hope you don’t think I’m being rude, I’m just interested…..thank you in advance 👍👍
No offence taken. Life gets hard whether in a tent, house, van, care home or whatever... but we run on the philosophy of... once you stop, you drop. Gots to keep going, active and enjoy the only life we get given on this earth. Why spend it worrying about what ifs, could get hit by a bus tomorrow. Hope this helps. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
Hi guys just subbed, I do lot of bushcraft survival camping not full time but sometimes wish I could for the simple life anyway how do you get on in winter with the cutdown mats and 3 seasons bags are they enough?
She stressed the importance of thicker blood for certain climates and environment, but came out beating her chest nonetheless. Something most may overlook especially when winter arrives.
However, thank you for sub and follow us on our journey.
Currently in Wales, as need to see a few people pending upcoming trip??? (keep a look out) HAPPY HOPPING 👍🏼 👌🏼
@@loghoppers will do love wales, thx for reply👍
What do you fo to protect yourselves from Ticks
Don't really have an issue with them, long socks and trousers. Sweep and brush down before getting inside, and check. But we have had them, and must be removed before 24hrs safety mark, to protect from lymes. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
Thank you@@loghoppers

@Richard-v3f doesn't matter, send us an email and we'll meet up, deep winter. So how do you work for money, supplies and all that jazz. We're Nomadic, so don't mind meeting up deep winter just to see your set up, exchange tips and tricks, contacts and the likes. Cheers HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
@loghoppers I busk
Video out soon, answering our FAQs ... such as your comment. No offence meant by this, it's just best to show instead. Hope you enjoy and thank you. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
We have a 2 bed house and 8 dogs, hair is a condiment in our place and we wouldn’t want it any other way!

No, but... it would be alot colder. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
Great video, do deer or other wildlife set your doorbells off?🦊🐗🐏🦌
@ClaraTaylor-te7mj they have in the past, but not on the mountains as of yet. Stick around and we are sure you'll see plenty more to come.

About as long as it takes some, "community minded," dog walker or local farmer to clock you and then you can expect to come back and find your pitch trashed and all you belongings scattered to the five winds.
Not happened in over 10yrs for us. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
Hi Cully, Do you hunt for food as in meat or just fruit and veg pick?
Both, but figuring out how to do a kind video on the meat side of things. It nay be that we design our website and have a few videos there on such matters. Want to keep it youtube friendly and subscriber safe. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
@ I reckon you’ll be alright, There’s ample of hunting videos on UA-cam that include the killing and skinning which are monitized, I think it’s more to do with how it’s done and if you’re hunting to eat and not killing for fun then there’s no reason to worry on the censorship side of things

what kind of foam mats are you using? Surprised they're warm enough in winter!
Thermarest zlite and they're the ONLY sort of mat we've used in winter and all year round as they're reversible for different scenarios. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼

How do you manage with water?
Are you carrying lots of water from your car?
😆😆😆 PLEASE read our bio, we're backpacking Nomads. Water falls from the sky, streams, and so on for absolutely free. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼

I’d like to see how your collecting drinking water
@Exploringinuk OK, well... have a look at our ua-cam.com/video/D7XE9yt6qpw/v-deo.html video. As I said, streams, the sky and so on. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
The only water I’ve collected was from Aldi 😂back breaking trips up the mountain. Empty plastic bottles make great pillows and hot water bottles

I'll keep that in mind 😀
One off topic Question - what do you do about drinking water etc?
Thanks for the reply 👍🏻 🙏🏻
So you've got a trip wire set up across a path? I feel sorry for anyone out for a walk or bike ride.
Have you tried putting rat traps on the trees to catch squirrels with some peanut butter as you could catch some fresh meat?
😜HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
You'll catch too many innocent small birds you are better off with a live cage trap
what i dont really understand, is why you dont find an extremely hard to find spot and make a shelter out of wood with a stove. as you can see them making on videos on youtube. if it gets found, tough luck. if not then you dont need a tent.
We're Nomadic, please have a look at the bio and enjoy the videos, we care about our environment and want to keep it wild. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
What about the landowners they complain
We're not on private land. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
Not passing judgment, just telling it like it is
some people don't have much choice from what i've seen. It's good to have a cool channel giving tips for how to do this properly.
We do not advocate being seen or heard, but yes... if everyone was like this, it would be a soup bowl. And not to mention, we don't everyone doing this... but to be fair, not many believe they can... so think we're safe for now lol. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
There’s always one isn’t there. Let people be as you yourself is let be. Flick over to something that helps you be a little more humble. 😊

Dd tarps!!
Interesting to watch but why are you hiding in the woods? Thats not freedom ! That said good luck to you.
@@daveunsworth9931 awesome, cheers for your comment. We wouldn't necessarily say we're 'hiding' in the woods, the woods is a beautiful arena in which to exercise our nomadic lifestyle... Undisturbed by others. We could always go and live in tent city in London, but in all honesty.. That's really not our style.
Cheers Cully, HAPPY HOPPING 👍🏼 👌🏼
Like how you living lived the same..going back 22 nov...one thing i disagree..when you say PRIVATE LAND...no land is private only stolen..all property is theft.. right to roam .. nature is for everyone...take the LAND not the jabbawacker..🏴☠️
Too true. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
Land was once not so long ago gifted or fought over between tribes and clans, also armies and officials still take it. Most people in these times have payed someone for their land, or at least decided not to sell it - so bare in mind its condition owes to their sacrifice.
Take your shades off.
Watch the other videos. HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼 👍🏼
Why should he?
the biggest danger that comes with living like this is big abandoned hungry dogs.
