I think if you were from that era, you understood that there wasn't a drive to make every song a single ready hit. The albums were a collection of music meant to take you somewhere. This album was probably my favorite from the 70's because it was unique and each song brought it's own value to the whole. This was only meant to evoke the feelings of heartache and resolve. No other agenda or catchy hooks required. IMHO ❤
If you listen to this entire live recording, you realize why it was so huge when it was released and why today its still revered as one of the best live albums out there. Peter hit with great Rock Tracks, Ballads and even an acoustic set, a great extended version of the Stones Jumpin Jack Flash in an era where Rock N Roll was exciting and so was his guitar mastery. It's a diverse two Vinyl piece of Art. As one who was in the Music Business in the 80s the landscape has now so changed from full albums and concept recordings, free-form art to a industry very focused on the almighty digital single radio market. At the time AOR and Album Oriented Rock had a huge radio audience and it was beyond just a pop radio format. Today , recording companies want and desire single digital downloads to entire recordings vs. True artistry. Its why much of pop music is so generic today in my view.
It is impossible to overstate how big this album was. There were so many tracks that became FM radio hits and then later classic rock standards. It's as if Rumors had been a double album, *that* many hit songs on one album. Very much a late 70's moment in time.
The guitar he's playing was given to him by a friend 1 night in 1970 when the guitar he was playing wasn't working correctly & Peter said it was like an immediate extension of him. He pretty much only played it for 10 years & while touring in South America the plane carrying all of their equipment burned up in a plane crash or so he & everyone else thought. Instead it was the only thing "rescued" by the guy guarding the plane & after 31 years & hearing rumors about his guitar being played all over South America, someone who knew that it was Peter Framptons guitar brought it back to him!! If you haven't seen the video of that reunion, you should!! I was able to see him perform live for the last time last summer & it was AMAZING!! I had that live album that came out in 1975, I was 10 & have been a HUGE FAN for the past 48+ years!!
This came out at the time when my brother would drive me to middle school every morning. So now, when I hear any song from this album, or The Doobies China Grove, I'm transported back to 13 year old me riding in that '69 Mercury Cyclone and fantastic memories. This was always my favorite song from this album. Good times. 🙂
Had the biggest crush on PF when I was growing up lol❤.Had a poster of him on my wall forever.I really miss the 70s and 80s .My opinion the best era of music. If I could only go back for one day, so many good memories.
This is one of his best songs to me. I just don't think talk box is the right mood for this - that's more for a cool, uplifting vibe. This song is an expression of grief and reflection over a break-up. The guitar solos are full of the emotion being poured into the song and they really soar in places. I really appreciate Peter's songwriting mastery and his amazing playing ability.
This album was released in 1976 when I was 11 and it took the country by storm. When you can record a live album this good and have it still be relevant today is a once in a lifetime accomplishment. Just pure talent
Peter Frampton was an original member of Humble Pie before he went solo. The Frampton era of Humble Pie is so awesome! If you know his sound you can tell his guitar solos from Steve Marriot's.
One of the greatest albums ever recorded live.......Period.....It was a double live album, It was so long ago I purchased this several time as an 8 track tape so it played in my car continuously, I wore out (3) 8 track tapes, finally bought the album and made 8 tracks from the record.....I still own this album......
Peter Frampton is British and grew up with David Bowie. They went to school together. His guitar influences like Bowie were eclectic and his sound original. Lines on my Face is a beautiful, deep and soulful song. A talkbox on this track would destroy everything good about it.
I still get chills listening to the tunes on this album. It was so great at the time but it really hits me now. I'm 60 years old and truly appreciate his awesome, unique talent.
My favorite album of all time! Saw him several times as the years passed, he still sounds amazing to this day, even tho his health issues prevent him from standing while playing now. Love him! It was great being a teenager when this came out!
My favorite track on that Lp. Great to see you guys experiencing the music of my generation. It's a beautiful flowing song and you guys letting it flow without interrupting is testament to that.
One of my favorite songs of his. btw, Peter Frampton is British. Sadly, he is battling a medical condition that makes his muscles degenerate. He is 74 years old now.
He just performed at the Rock and Roll induction ceremony. He was sitting but his feet were moving and he played the guitar with all the enthusiasm and joy he always has played with.
My father died in 2016 from that disease Inclusion Body Myostitis, at age 90. He had it for many years. It is a terrible disease, because it's so slow, and there is no cure. I cried when I heard Peter has it, too. A very cruel disease. God Bless my dad and Peter and everyone else who has this terrible cross to bear😢
@@CuzKatieSaysSo I'm so sorry that your dad went through that, and for your loss. I hope that Peter has good doctors and a good family and support system. I'm glad that you were there for your dad.
When I was in college, you could hear this album blaring out every dorm window when you walked across campus. Great stuff! You should also hit Baby I Love Your Way (one of the most romantic songs ever).
I see Blackfoot's album Tomcattin behind you. Hope you are going to react to them. On their album Strikes every song is gold. Please react to Train Train, Highway Song, and they did the best cover of Wishing Well I've ever heard! Keep rocking, love your channel!
Saw this concert back in '76 in Memphis. Great concert. In '76, everybody has this album. This is my second favorite song from the album. Do u feel like I do is my favorite.
👍 Summer '75 I turned 18, graduated HS, and could buy beer. I saw Jaws and Frampton's "Comes Alive" tour that summer. (and The Who with Mooney in November) Great year!
This track is fire! My personal fave. 17 yrs old when this album dropped. I hope you dive into this album, and see it's greatness for yourselves. Peace
Fellas, I've been watching and enjoying for a number of weeks now...but it took this exquisite tune by Frampton to finally get me to do the smart thing and subscribe. As usual, solid reaction. I'm 64 and was 17 when this came out and the album to this day remains one of my all-time favorites.
Great song choice guys - this song always gets overlooked. You don't want to overuse the talk box, that's what makes the other songs special. Still have the original vinyl in mint condition to this day. A&M records used really good record sleeves lined with plastic which really helped keep the records from getting scratched up on just a paper sleeve.
I’ll turn 60 this year, so I grew up with Frampton Comes Alive. Back then, he sold out huge arenas because the band’s music and his voice and stage presence were and still are impeccable and top notch. Nearly 50 years later and his music stands the test of time.
I recall this album vividly. I lived in San Jose, Ca and we had this one FM station that would play an entire album without commercial interruption. It's a double album so they played one album, took a short break, then played the second album without commercials. That would be literally impossible to do today. I recall AM DJ's interrupting the beginning and ending of songs. I was recording them off the radio and that basically ruined it for me. This was the era that I switched from AM to FM and never looked back.......
I went through two copies of this album on vinyl back then. This song is my favorite on the album, but the rest of it is outstanding. To me, Peter Frampton is one of the best guitarists in rock.
Took years of wisdom as a music listener to realize what a complete FORCE, Frampton is on guitar. From Humble Pie through his solo years. Just amazingly good.
This album represents a great time for so many people, me included. Start to finish, it's ones of those perfect albums. It's friends enjoying warm summer evenings together. It's our life. Thanks for sharing!
Ninth grade this album blew up. He was the biggest thing in the country the live album broke all sales records for the time and he’s from England. He was in humble pie before going solo.
He's English and had a long history in music before this album propelled him to the top. In 1966, at 16 years of age, he joined a group called The Herd on vocals and lead guitar, and enjoyed a few UK and European hits. After that he was a founding member of Humble Pie with former Small Faces lead singer/guitarist Steve Marriott. His solo career began after that, struggling to make it until Frampton Comes Alive exploded him into international stardom.
Oh my, I saw him in concert in 1976 touring on this album 😮 He was perfection and all the ladies were swooning over this petite little guy (myself included). This whole album is just great.❤
I can't even describe how much I love, and have always loved this song. ❤️ also, do yourselves a favor and listen to his cover of the Beatles " while my guitar gently weeps " mind blowing 😮
Frampton started with The Herd when he was 17 years old then formed his own band then joined Humble Pie. He also played with David Bowie on the Glass Spider Tour. Frampton's dad was Bowie's art teacher!!
I saw Peter Frampton in a small amphitheater in Peachtree City, Georgia about 10 years ago and we were four rows from the stage... One of the best concerts I've ever went to fantastic. Peter Frampton is from England
This comes from a time when vinyl was the only option and when you put the record on you played it front to back. The artists and the producers really made it flow. Out of context the song left ya wanting but in sequence... it was just right. Great album!
This is an absolutely killer song, but as a lead in to Do You Feel Like We Do it is stellar. Laid back “sway with your partner” tune to set you up to have your world rocked then kicked out the door with a smile. That’s showmanship.
I went to a place called a record store 48 years ago and bought this album seen Frampton live a few weeks later oh reaction suggestion Sad Bag of Shaky Jake with Humble Pie before going solo

I understand what you mean when you said that he missed the chance to make this song a great song, but it was the album as a whole that made each individual song great. I still remember playing this repeatedly, whether in the car, on the record player, or at parties. The main thing about this album is that you never had to lift the needle: if you know, you know. BTW, you two do an excellent job. Thank you.
I saw him live during his 1975 tour, where this album got the material from. I’d never seen that many women at a rock concert before in my life (I was 21 then). The man was a freakin’ chick magnet back then!

My favorite Frampton song
Saw Peter Frampton in 2019 with Jason Bonham. The last concert I went to with my dad before he passed away. A memory I'll hold with me forever.
Heartbreak, and then that instrument. The guitar was shedding tears. I heard them.

Best track on the album, IMO. Really showcases his guitar playing.
