Well... you DO have orks fighting alongside the Imperium, but they're generally fringe worlds, I mean do you really think the Inquisitor or Priest is going to get his ass off his comfy throne to arrest you without considerable reward? generally if he's ignoring your world it's because you have almost nothing to provide the Imperum except you are Human. But Orks(from the Blood Axes) fight alongside the Imperium as Mercenaries from time to time

That is the stupidest idea ever. From the ork side tyranids battle are basically rave parties and those green skins won't miss to call every orky boy in the near sector. On the tyranids site is like a massive all you can eat buffet from ork meet. So no mather who wins in the end you have an army which is 10 time stronger than the previouse 2.

I think the idea is while the imperium continued to conduct diplomacy with xenos, the last time a xeno diplomat was ever on terra itself was when The Beast did.

I was always under the impression that it is better to make deals with the dark eldar since they hold up their contracts, than with the craft world eldar who will do whatever they think is best for them which includes betrayal.
As an Inquisitor: Well Ackchyually There are a few "sanctioned xenos" in they that are allowed to work for the Imperium while bearing a mark of allegiance to the Imperium upon their bodies under the lifelong supervision of a Rouge Trader/Inquisitor . Note that a sanctioned xenos is an individual, not an entire species. However, these Xenos had to be sanctioned by the Inquisition, I find it hard to imagine an ORK getting sanctioned (the two sanctioned xenos I know of were a kroot and a "last of his kind" unnamed species guy.
the imperial attitude towards xenos is rather understandable given their history. as the great crusade spread out they found utterly horrifying situations of human slavery and worse by many xenos, that combined with frequent exposure to orks and other races that are more likely to eat a human then talk to it has only solidified this idea. the cases of humanity living as equel partners alongside xenos was very rare to the point they just ignore then and attacked anyway. even the tau and eldar aren't free of guilt in this. the dark eldar (who as far as I know most people cant tell apart from the craftworld eldar leading to their crimes being laid at the feet of the whole eldar race) are slavers, torturers, pirates and, even worse, caused the birth of a chaos god where the resulting warp storms almost destroyed humanity and the humans still remember this. the craftworlds aren't innocent, there are cases of them manipulating events so that many humans die over a few eldar. I can understand it given how few they are but any race that trades another's lives (into the billions) so casually cant be trusted, even without the unexplained raids and attacks because a farseer had a vision. the tau are subversive as fuck, the water cast isn't there as diplomats so much as instigators, if you wont join the will invade and lets not go into the part where they are most likely being mind controlled by the ethereal caste. the imperial attitude is extreme as hell to our point of view but we need to ask the question, how much common ground do these races actually have? outside a common enemy there isn't much. that said, should the imperium look beyond its history and give it a go, the tau manage to get free of the ethereals and the eldar get over themselves I can see these three working as one quite well. considering the necron, tyranid and ork threats it may be needed, and chaos may well consume everything if they don't.
Gue'vesa aren't mind controlled, they joined willingly. Tau always give a chance to join them, retreat or surrender. These humans could have picked any other option
Gue'vesa aren't slaves, and the Eldar race hadn't split into aeldari and drukari yet whe She Who Thirsts was formed... the Dark Eldar are very much a Post Fall of the Eldar evolution!
There are some plausible temporary alliances with the imperium: With eldar: Chaos or nids becomes a threat to both. With chaos: Nids are coming, and they are anathema to both realspace and the warp. Redemption stories might happen as well. With tau: Common goals? If the imperium gets over their "xenos=bad" then it's not hard. With orks: Some clans, like the blood axes, might. The rest of them are too violent. With nids: No. Just no. With Necrons: Trazyn may want to because he needs his fix of artifacts, maybe the rest too if some of the other threats are big enough, or that the c'tan return. Seems like the necrons are starting to become more neutral as opposed to "Kill everyone, this is our galaxy"
There are tens of billions of worlds in the galaxy, the Imperium's holdings are in the *M*illions, so why can't the Tau just expand to other words not owned by the Imperium. The Imperium is rather stretched thin across the galaxy. Plus, the Tau had Terraforming tech the last time I checked.They don't have to be greedy little blueberry C*ntheads about it.
Just a note: The planetary governors who hire Dark Eldar mercenaries often are betrayed after the job is done and either have their world targetted in the next Dark Eldar raid or are personally taken to the Commorragh for torture.

If the eldar actually stop being such assholes, and start working with the imperium, and lets say they get 25% of the galaxy. Then perhaps the imperium could triumph.

The only two species that the Imperium Of Man can actually use the phrase "Diplomacy" with are the Eldar and Tau (Maybe the Orks if they don't kill each other first). The eldar, though arrogant like the humans, know they need humanity as much as they need them. The both have knowledge and enough to face Chaos together. The Tau will always seek cooperation but need to not be so quick to replace their ideology with the Tau Greater Good concept. The Blood Axe orks can be useful for the imperium since they have history. The necrons will be damn near out right no due to their own plans Tyranids is out of the question.
Depends on the Necron Lords level of sanity and how well he endured the Great Sleep.. the Silent King would certainly be more than happy to work with humanity to ensure that the Imperium keeps the 'nids distracted long enough to reverse the Biotransference that turned the Necrontyr into what they are today...

They would be integrated as second Class citizens. Both of those creeds state human superority, embracing such dea would mean willful servitude on the xenos' part.
The idea of 'real' diplomacy in the 40k galaxy kind of breaks the underlying idea of the whole setting... but still, I like the idea that since the Eldarai are running around helping out, the Tau being reluctant to war with the Imperium and all the other little things that are changing lately (such as Guilliman being on his feet again, he was always eminently practical), that the Ministorum's grip on everything will loosen slightly and perhaps, just maybe, a coalition of Men, Eldar and Tau will form against the myriad unreasoning threats such as Orks, Chaos and 'Nids. Hell, even the Necrons can sometimes be negotiated with. Let's face it, none of these individual species and Empires can really hope to stand alone against everything that wants them totally annihilated and details of recent events are starting to look like they're deviating from what the Emperor, Magnus, Horus and others foresaw as the eventual end of all things. Perhaps there's a wildcard on the table? Perhaps Ynnead is turning out differently than he was meant to and skewing history into an unforeseen path? Perhaps stuff just looks slightly brighter right now just so that when it all goes completely to shit, it'll be that much worse. I really hope a grand alliance can form up even for the sole purpose of survival. Afterwards? Well... this Galaxy really IS big enough for all of us, if we could only stop murdering each other over who's got the biggest dick.
I kind of feel there are almost two layers of the setting. There's what could actually happen according to the setting, which is that there are sufficient vaguely sane people in the imperium to realise that shits fucked up right now and at a minimum a nonaggression pact with the Tau and as many Elder craft worlds as possible is necessary. A true alliance and/or trade being a little harder to achieve but not totally out of the question. Then there's the other layer of the setting which is the entire point of the setting is to be filled with constant wholesale warfare to serve as a backdrop for the games and the constant action that fills all Warhammer books. . Do you get what I mean?
This is true, but if you will recall, the Tau have a tendency to want all of humanity to join their empire and replace their belief with a different concept. At least the eldar will leave you alone. Yet, the point still stands. The Tau, the eldar, and the imperium can work together against the forces of the galaxy.
i like how the Tau are always "major players" in warhammer 40k lore talks when they barely have any real power they literally have like a few dozen planets under their control.....
They're also the only group, as far as i know, whose technology is constantly advancing, instead of frequently getting lost. Then again, this could be because they haven't discovered the best bits of tech just yet. Also, civilian contact between humans and the Tau would probably be very useful for the human worlds, specially if said worlds somewhat change their administrations to mimic tau society. It'd still fucking suck, but you know... Be less bad and all that. More productive worlds with better quality of life means more and better tech and equipment, more healthy people to join the guards and the space marines, and if they learn to make their propaganda more effective, more people actively acting in favor of the emperor's faith. So, basically... At a first moment, an alliance with the Tau would be fucking useless. But give it a century or two, and things can change quite a lot.
Well the coven of Isha would've been real nice during the Aurelia campaing. Blood Ravens having to stop the Tyranid invasion, while also have to fight orks that were lead there. And on top of that the Eldar are trying to blow the system up. God I hate the fact that we cant let the craftworld die.
to be fair i dont think anyone could have thought that 3 company at most of space marines could stop an entire hive fleet, an Ork invasion, as well as the Eldar at the same time.
Tbh a Craftworld Did Die in the Aurelia campaign, Planet Typhon was home to many soul stones and if you play the Eldar campaign or go back to it, you'll notice Biel Tan Eldar are there to salvage what they can, and overhear that the guns reached deep into the very craftworld

First time playing Dark Heresy (D&D 40k), our DM had us run across a Jakero (can't spell it), and had us roll to see if it liked us enough to upgrade out equipment. Everyone else failed, I rolled a crit success so he made my master crafted long-las (either that or it was a special stalker bolter, can't remember anymore) and it became twin-linked. 2 games later the DM had some Dark Eldar take it cause I one-shotted an Ork warboss and basically everything else we ran across. Oh the good ol days.

chapter abducted a dozen ulthwe bonesingers to fix a cracked wraithbone vault containing a ctan shard. didn't kill anyone on our way out so the craftworld sent a diplomat to figure out what was going on. though to be fair they did send along a phoenix lord as well.

I’m working on a comic where a mordian iron guard commander falls in love with a female tau prisoner. And him and his regiment are friends with all races except chaos, dark Eldars,gene stealers, different ork tribes, and other human tribes.

It's kinda makes sense for the Imperium of Man and the Craftworld Eldar to start an alliance, because they don't exactly have a reason to fight each other.
I somewhat believe that the imperium, eldar and tau may eventually create new gods that will create a new pantheon of order gods and like the chaos gods will occasionally battle one another, this new pantheon i theorize that it will include the star child, the omnissiah, eldar's god of the dead and the manifestation of the tau's greater good, also i love how technically the emperor is a respected god of war for orks as they believe humanities attacks are the emperors gift to orks
There are Aeldari Diplomats - their Path is called the Path of the Thought Talker. A quote from the wiki; "Path of the Thought Talker - A Thought Talker is an Asuryani telepath who is trained to function as both an interpreter between the Aeldari and other intelligent species and as an ambassador to these beings for their craftworld. A Thought Talker does not need to known their interlocutors' spoken languages; they simply transmits their meanings directly into others' minds using a conceptual language that any intelligent being can understand as long as their minds and conceptions of reality are not too radically different from that of the Aeldari."
I think a major thing that gets overlooked in these discussions is the fact that most Xeno contacts of the Federation, Mars & later the Imperium _weren't_ with Eldar, Tau or Jokaero; They were with Orks, Hrud, Kinebrach, Ragadan & various weirdo animals that can bite through Adamantium. The IoM is certainly more Xenophobic than reasonable but there's still a massive skew towards rather unpleasant behaviour in most of the galaxy.

I actually kinda like how The Imperium and The Eldar will occasionally work together to fight a greater threat. I remember reading about some Imperial Forces and some Eldar working together to combat one of The Black Crusades.
An RPG featuring an interspecies cast like Mass Effect or Knights of the old Republic would be cool. You could even have a Blood Axe ork in there. I would also suggest a character from Craftworld Kaelor because they're obscure and interesting.
I'm curious if its possible for an alliance between of all of the Eldar and the Imperium, both are protecting their people and territory and all, Yes I know Humanity wiped out Craftworld(s) and all and elder are pissed about it but tbh I can see that the Eldar and Humanity could have some things in common, like their forces of Chaos, sometimes Orks, Pansy Tau, And the All consuming Tyranids

I do know that on Necromunda, at The Palatine, there is a spire set aside for xenos traders to visit every so often. So, some degree of sanctioned trade does take place on some Imperial worlds. And it would have to be legal if an entire spire is set aside for such purposes.

There are a few "sanctioned xenos" in they that are allowed to work for the Imperium while bearing a mark of allegiance to the Imperium upon their bodies under the lifelong supervision of a Rouge Trader/Inquisitor . Note that a sanctioned xenos is an individual, not an entire species. However, these Xenos had to be sanctioned by the Inquisition, I find it hard to imagine an ORK getting sanctioned (the two sanctioned xenos I know of were

the imperial attitude towards xenos is rather understandable given their history. as the great crusade spread out they found utterly horrifying situations of human slavery and worse by many xenos, that combined with frequent exposure to orks and other races that are more likely to eat a human then talk to it has only solidified this idea. the cases of humanity living as equel partners alongside xenos was very rare to the point they just ignore then and attacked anyway. even the tau and eldar aren't free of guilt in this. the dark eldar (who as far as I know most people cant tell apart from the craftworld eldar leading to their crimes being laid at the feet of the whole eldar race) are slavers, torturers, pirates and, even worse, caused the birth of a chaos god where the resulting warp storms almost destroyed humanity and the humans still remember this. the craftworlds aren't innocent, there are cases of them manipulating events so that many humans die over a few eldar. I can understand it given how few they are but any race that trades another's lives (into the billions) so casually cant be trusted, even without the unexplained raids and attacks because a farseer had a vision. the tau are subversive as fuck, the water cast isn't there as diplomats so much as instigators, if you wont join the will invade and lets not go into the part where they are most likely being mind controlled by the ethereal caste. the imperial attitude is extreme as hell to our point of view but we need to ask the question, how much common ground do these races actually have? outside a common enemy there isn't much. that said, should the imperium look beyond its history and give it a go, the tau manage to get free of the ethereals and the eldar get over themselves I can see these three working as one quite well. considering the necron, tyranid and ork threats it may be needed, and chaos may well consume everything if they don't.

There are some plausible temporary alliances with the imperium:
With eldar: Chaos or nids becomes a threat to both.
With chaos: Nids are coming, and they are anathema to both realspace and the warp. Redemption stories might happen as well.
With tau: Common goals? If the imperium gets over their "xenos=bad" then it's not hard.
With orks: Some clans, like the blood axes, might. The rest of them are too violent.
With nids: No. Just no.
With Necrons: Trazyn may want to because he needs his fix of artifacts, maybe the rest too if some of the other threats are big enough, or that the c'tan return. Seems like the necrons are starting to become more neutral as opposed to "Kill everyone, this is our galaxy"
There are tens of billions of worlds in the galaxy, the Imperium's holdings are in the *M*illions, so why can't the Tau just expand to other words not owned by the Imperium. The only two species that the Imperium Of Man can actually use the phrase "Diplomacy" with are the Eldar and Tau (Maybe the Orks if they don't kill each other first). The eldar, though arrogant like the humans, know they need humanity as much as they need them. The both have knowledge and enough to face Chaos together. The Tau will always seek cooperation but need to not be so quick to replace their ideology with the Tau Greater Good concept.
The Blood Axe orks can be useful for the imperium since they have history.

The idea of 'real' diplomacy in the 40k galaxy kind of breaks the underlying idea of the whole setting... but still, I like the idea that since the Eldarai are running around helping out, the Tau being reluctant to war with the Imperium and all the other little things that are changing lately (such as Guilliman being on his feet again, he was always eminently practical), that the Ministorum's grip on everything will loosen slightly and perhaps, just maybe, a coalition of Men, Eldar and Tau will form against the myriad unreasoning threats such as Orks, Chaos and 'Nids. Hell, even the Necrons can sometimes be negotiated with. Let's face it, none of these individual species and Empires can really hope to stand alone against everything that wants them totally annihilated and details of recent events are starting to look like they're deviating from what the Emperor, Magnus, Horus and others foresaw as the eventual end of all things. Perhaps there's a wildcard on the table? Perhaps Ynnead is turning out differently than he was meant to and skewing history into an unforeseen path? Perhaps stuff just looks slightly brighter right now just so that when it all goes completely to shit, it'll be that much worse.
I really hope a grand alliance can form up even for the sole purpose of survival. Afterwards? Well... this Galaxy really IS big enough for all of us, if we could only stop murdering each other over who's got the biggest dick.

I kind of feel there are almost two layers of the setting. There's what could actually happen according to the setting, which is that there are sufficient vaguely sane people in the imperium to realise that shits fucked up right now and at a minimum a nonaggression pact with the Tau and as many Elder craft worlds as possible is necessary. A true alliance and/or trade being a little harder to achieve but not totally out of the question. Then there's the other layer of the setting which is the entire point of the setting is to be filled with constant wholesale warfare to serve as a backdrop for the games and the constant action that fills all Warhammer books. . Do you get what I mean?

This is true, but if you will recall, the Tau have a tendency to want all of humanity to join their empire and replace their belief with a different concept. At least the eldar will leave you alone. Yet, the point still stands. The Tau, the eldar, and the imperium can work together against the forces of the galaxy.
i like how the Tau are always "major players" in warhammer 40k lore talks when they barely have any real power they literally have like a few dozen planets under their control.....
They're also the only group, as far as i know, whose technology is constantly advancing, instead of frequently getting lost. Then again, this could be because they haven't discovered the best bits of tech just yet.
Also, civilian contact between humans and the Tau would probably be very useful for the human worlds, specially if said worlds somewhat change their administrations to mimic tau society. It'd still fucking suck, but you know... Be less bad and all that. More productive worlds with better quality of life means more and better tech and equipment, more healthy people to join the guards and the space marines, and if they learn to make their propaganda more effective, more people actively acting in favor of the emperor's faith.
So, basically... At a first moment, an alliance with the Tau would be fucking useless. But give it a century or two, and things can change quite a lot.
Well the coven of Isha would've been real nice during the Aurelia campaing. Blood Ravens having to stop the Tyranid invasion, while also have to fight orks that were lead there. And on top of that the Eldar are trying to blow the system up. God I hate the fact that we cant let the craftworld die.

Tbh a Craftworld Did Die in the Aurelia campaign, Planet Typhon was home to many soul stones and if you play the Eldar campaign or go back to it, you'll notice Biel Tan Eldar are there to salvage what they can, and overhear that the guns reached deep into the very craftworld

First time playing Dark Heresy (D&D 40k), our DM had us run across a Jakero (can't spell it), and had us roll to see if it liked us enough to upgrade out equipment. Everyone else failed, I rolled a crit success so he made my master crafted long-las (either that or it was a special stalker bolter, can't remember anymore) and it became twin-linked. 2 games later the DM had some Dark Eldar take it cause I one-shotted an Ork warboss and basically everything else we ran across. Oh the good ol days.

I somewhat believe that the imperium, eldar and tau may eventually create new gods that will create a new pantheon of order gods and like the chaos gods will occasionally battle one another, this new pantheon i theorize that it will include the star child, the omnissiah, eldar's god of the dead and the manifestation of the tau's greater good, also i love how technically the emperor is a respected god of war for orks as they believe humanities attacks are the emperors gift to orks
Diplomacy and outright alliance is definitely possible with SOME Eldar and SOME Tau, though not on a grand scale as of the present millennium.
There are Aeldari Diplomats - their Path is called the Path of the Thought Talker.

I think a major thing that gets overlooked in these discussions is the fact that most Xeno contacts of the Federation, Mars & later the Imperium _weren't_ with Eldar, Tau or Jokaero; They were with Orks, Hrud, Kinebrach, Ragadan & various weirdo animals that can bite through Adamantium. The IoM is certainly more Xenophobic than reasonable but there's still a massive skew towards rather unpleasant behaviour in most of the galaxy.

I actually kinda like how The Imperium and The Eldar will occasionally work together to fight a greater threat. I remember reading about some Imperial Forces and some Eldar working together to combat one of The Black Crusades.
An RPG featuring an interspecies cast like Mass Effect or Knights of the old Republic would be cool.

I'm curious if its possible for an alliance between of all of the Eldar and the Imperium, both are protecting their people and territory and all, Yes I know Humanity wiped out Craftworld(s) and all and elder are pissed about it but tbh I can see that the Eldar and Humanity could have some things in common, like their forces of Chaos, sometimes Orks, Pansy Tau, And the All consuming Tyranids

I do know that on Necromunda, at The Palatine, there is a spire set aside for xenos traders to visit every so often. So, some degree of sanctioned trade does take place on some Imperial worlds. And it would have to be legal if an entire spire is set aside for such purposes.
