Yeah, I've had a probe in mine for a month now because it was freezing up. I had no leaks.
Indeed it was low, so I added some. It got better. THEN it puked refrigerant out the pop-off valve on a cold startup-makes a heck of a noise. It was making WAY too much pressure right at startup when cold, would blow off, and then run fine--until it had blown enough off after multiple starts to be low again. When it's low it REALLY cools the air. I saw into the 20's and frosty lines-which is great for short trips, but of course that freezes up the Evaporator in less than 30 minutes (my commute).
Finally put a new orifice tube in there, vacuumed and recharged. Been running a steady 39-41 ever since in our worst heat of the Summer. I'm really happy to be done with that thing for a while. The OT had a bunch of crap in it--that I think is mostly stopleak someone else put into the system before I got it. It was leaking out the HS service port and I fixed that with a new valve six years ago. Was fine until the stop leak clogged the OT all these miles later.

I like your probe. I'm using an alcohol-filled unit for accuracy, but have to pull it out to read it each time. I'll get a dial type and calibrate it.

Hi, need to put air blower speed on hi or low ? When I measured on low it is about 45 degrees colder than ambient temp but when put it in hi 25 degrees that significantly higher.

What happens when you turn the blower on high? Does air blow out of the air vents?

When in winter the temperature is 40 degree, do I expect AC could still lower the temperature? And by how many degrees?
I asked the question because I really need to buy a used car now. My car just got totaled. But when I bought my first car in 1980's, I did not check AC because it was in snowy days. When the summer came and AC did not work, I spent almost $800 to fix the AC.

When buying a used car in cooler-temperatures, with the car running, turn on the AC button, place the vent selector to the defrost position and check to see if the clutch on the compressor will turn.

The vast majority of air conditioner problems are due to the clutch not engaging and turning on the compressor which can be caused for numerous different reasons to even include something as simple as the refrigerant being low, which is obviously an easy fix.
