This painting is so beutiful....ahhhh....THOSE COLORS together make me feel so warm and content..This video helped " open me up " more to the battle I fight with intimidation of water color. I am a beginner, and I long to get better and understand this paint. It is my favorite paint and I really appreciate your work and wisdom. Thank you for this channel.
Angela, thank you for being so relaxed in your presentation and willing to actually let us see your experiments. This alone creates the feeling of "I can do this" that simple words or pictures do not convey! Cannot wait to try this.
I am currently on bed rest which has given me the opportunity to watch several of your videos on loose painting. I am itching to get back to my paints. I feel that, with your great instruction my creative "eye" is starting to see possibilities and opportunities. Thank you for your wonderful videos.
Angela, I can’t believe how much you have learned and how much you have ‘grown’ since I began watching you.! I am now doing abstracts but at 91 I have slowed down a lot but am great full to YOU for teaching me so much and you are always a very valuable teacher to return to. Love You! Margery Griffith
Your video demos are wonderful and refreshing. You are showing everyone not to be afraid to put the paint on the paper, even when they don't know what they are doing. To take chances and have fun. Thank you so much.
How beautiful. perked my ear when you mentioned multi-pigmented colors. Been doing a lot of theory, I find it interesting. It also explains why some accidents aren't so "happy". I never knew! I am not an artist by trade, I am a frontline worker that has dove headfirst into watercolor. I LOVE IT. It would be interesting to see the colors you used for the stamping swatched and mixed so you could see how single and multi-pigmented colors interact. Thanks for sharing your new experience with us. Im so glad I didnt delete this email before I read it.
This is my favorite demonstration of yours, Angela. The colors are gorgeous as are the beautiful textures you got from the leaves. Knowing where to paint the negative areas made this painting just pop. We made leaf prints every year in my elementary classes and the kids loved doing them.
Yes, I tried this technique, I found that not rubbing the leaves, but just gently applying the leaves to different zones, wet, or dry, or somewhere in between gives nice results
Stunning painting .. awesome techniques shown... I find when I do paintings like this.... If I set it aside frequently and then study it... my mind's eye "sees" things that I then only need to bring out with a little light and shadow.. What an incredible inspiration for painters of any skill level ...
I am so glad I ran into you in the Artwork Creative Productivity. You immediately became my favorite artist. Thank you for the downloads and tutorials. I'm sure I will be spending A LOT of time on your channel. I tried watercolor years ago (I'm 73) and gave up. I can do leaves, I have my own homemade wildlife habitat, with lots of them. lol You are so talented!
You took a simple lead printing to a whole new level and made a finished painting with interesting darks and the serpentine shape. Can’t wait to try it. Thank you!
I really like the way the lowest leaf is just a hint, the middle leaf more defined and the top leaf and all the surrounds it is a smooth, bright presence in the painting. I was amazed at how the top leaf continued to solidify itself in the painting and shone. I am not sure this is the right way to explain it, but I am going outside now to pick up a couple leaves and try this myself with just some simple watercolors to see if I can apply this technique to my painting. Definitely out of my comfort zone. But I watch the master and learn.
I struggle with just letting go and forcing something to happen. Watching your videos encourages me that it is okay to be loose and freeing. I can't wait to go outside and collect some leaves. Fall is my favorite time of the year!
What a fun demo Angela! I always enjoy coming along for the journey exploring new techniques with you! We all learn a lot more from seeing you experiment "unrehearsed"! Thanks for having the guts to do it! I have found that leaves print best if they are relatively fresh, and I use the backside where there is more of the veins showing. Using paint directly from the wells, so it's nice and fairly thick, and I left mine on the paper until they had dried, so they held the shape better. For fun I sprayed a bit of water on the paper around them, and sprinkled on some brusho. Wow, that made quite the fab effect!
Fall is my favorite season. Love the colors. This was really a great idea. I like trees and flowers and am just getting started in watercolors. You inspire me to keep trying. Thanks so much!
Looking forward to trying this--reminds me of using leaves with the vein side up against paper and coloring over it with crayons horizontally in different fall colors. Love it.
This is beautiful.I really enjoy how you read the land and it's elements..........and then go into an abstraction......allowing it to rest ......and then bringing it home to itself. What a wonderful, cooperative way to move with the scene, the watercolor and your inner self. Thanks you.
I liked the effects you got. I have done leaf painting before using poster paint which is thicker. Using the backside of the leaf gives better texture as the veins are more pronounced.
Love how gorgeous and juicy these come out. Also thrilled that it isn't just me wearing nearly as much paint as the paper. Almost feels like pre-school, certainly just as much fun! Thank you
I used autumn leaves from my yard to make cards a few years ago....everyone Loved them....and have been using the loose goose for a few years....a favorite brush! Haven't used them together!!!
I’m sitting in the garden barefoot and earthing.....looking at all the leafs strewn around , I’m becoming obsessed...I’ve already eyed up loads of potential buddies !!!
As always, just so neat & beautiful. Thank you for your creative thinking. I think red leaves with snow painted on them would make wonderful Christmas cards. Bleed a little green in for accent. Great!
Hi.I love your paintings. I am 75 years old, retired Dr. I have the time now. I have just started watercolor painting. It is the beginning. Thanks for your beautiful paintings and explaining everything in a very simple way. Any suggestions for an old person like me. Thanks again Sudha
I've just been out this morning, gathering some of the few leaves, that are still left here before fall takes them all :) This looks like so much fun, and I can't wait to try this!
This was a very enjoyable video. I like how you came back and showed your second look and final touches. We did leaf prints when I was in grade school and used the back side of the leaves for the veins to be more visible too. Thank you for sharing :)
Thanks so much! Love this... so fun to be inspired by your experiment. I have done this with bubble wrap for a very wonderful card front. Can’t wait to try the leaves next!
Really enjoy your pleasure in painting freely and experimenting live. Always love the results too! In upstate NY under gorgeous skies and beautiful landscapes of color right now. So wonderful! Not sure why it says Breilly 62. This is Sherry!
Really enjoyed this demonstration and it turned out fantastic...love the colours you chose and the brush strokes were really great..something I will try for sure. I know you don’t tend to do a lot of pictures with water but I would love to learn how to paint the ocean and waves. Thanks!
So glad you did this Angela. I LOVE it. Going to get some leaves and my Loose Goose tomorrow and dive in. I would like you to do a tutorial on painting landscape with bushes and leafy trees. I have struggled with this a lot.
Just getting acquainted with you and your beautiful painting style! I struggle with staying loose and this was such a helpful exercise. Thank you for being so encouraging and inspiring to us. You’re a gem!
That's funny because i've done more or less the same experiment last week ! But i laid down the leave and let everything dry before removing it ! Your technique is very interesting too !
What fun! I love how you use the lights and dark colours to bring it all together! Thanks so much for sharing! I was also wondering how you have liked the Robax palette now that you have been using it for a while! Love your videos, they encourage me to relax and play with watercolours. Thanks.
Angela, this painting is gorgeous. I'd like you to focus on texture in your demonstrations. I'd like for you to explain how, when and where texture can add to the painting. Also, if you ever have a chance, could you "pretty please" paint birds??? I've seen one painting with chickadees. Thanks for asking. I was just thinking how these leaf prints, especially the second generation prints, could work well with mixed media. I was wondering if you ever used Daniel Smith's dual watercolor paints? If so, how are they different or why would I want to try them? They have a name but I cannot remember it. Thanks again, Angela.
This is so beautiful. I can't wait to try this technique. I found a black snake skin and have been trying to use it to texture as well. Not having the best of luck.
This is so lovely! And I think I might be able to do something like this! Your color selections are so pretty.I'd love to see how to loosely paint some birds.
Angela, this was great! I just came back from Maine (with some leaves in tow) and was trying to incorporate them in my watercolor book/journal for the trip. I used an ink pad and stamped a few that way, but I love what you have done here and am going to use this for one of my pages.
I think I'm going to pull out my watercolors. You are so inspiring! How/where did you get the Cheap Joe's Scroggy's Loose Goose Dagger Striper #1? They don't ship to Canada! I want one!
Thank you Angela 🖌️🎨💝. I'm sooooo glad I came across you, by chance, on the internet!!

I love to watch an artist out of their comfort zone coz that’s where us beginners are always at !!! Thank you so much x

I loved the leaf stamp painting! Will share with friends.
Angela, may be one of your best videos yet! You do take the fear away and for me that is the most important thing. Love this!

I think this might be just the thing to help me get unstuck thanks for posting this Angela
I was just thinking the same thing, Helen!
Me too!

Really enjoyed how the loose painting was transformed with your negative painting. Beautiful!

Thanks Angela. Setting up do have a go in the morning. Love this and I agree about getting unstuck. Eager to try...
Love the colours
My first video with you and really liked watching another left handed person paint.
really nice effect - going outside for leaves right now
OMG --Angela! How terrific! Thank you (per usual) for the creative share!
oh my .... am enjoying this idea! fun to watch and as soon as I get my studio/office space back I want to try it. thanks so much.

This autumn abstract is wonderful. Thanks for the fun!
We did leaf stamping in my grade 2 primary school class, back in the early 70's .. we used the back of the leaves 😉... nice re-invent Angela 😊👍
I really love this! The lacy part of the painting reminds me of leaf skeletons, when they get very old and dry. Beautiful colors and textures.
Angela l love your paintings.thank you so much
I liked the effects you got. I have done leaf painting before using poster paint which is thicker. Using the backside of the leaf gives better texture as the veins are more pronounced.
I have tried this before, a few years ago, but your looks so much better!
That has really made me understand using negative painting 👍
Love how gorgeous and juicy these come out. Also thrilled that it isn't just me wearing nearly as much paint as the paper. Almost feels like pre-school, certainly just as much fun! Thank you

I really liked this learning. I really want to learn loose painting.
It's so true about the ghost prints. I have much better luck with them, and love them so much more than the first run.
Love this. You turned a simple stamp technique into a lovely loose, very pretty painting.

brilliant , what an inspiration thank you
I love this technique. Thank you for sharing it.
I loved this exercise. I broke my right shoulder and tried to do it with my left side. I love doing leaves this way.
It's so fun, isn't it?!
That's funny because i've done more or less the same experiment last week ! But i laid down the leave and let everything dry before removing it ! Your technique is very interesting too !
Great video demo- thank you. Your teaching skills are exceptional.
I will be having such fun this weekend thank you again for all your creTivity.

Thanks for all the GREAT watercolor vids. Bob
I really enjoyed this video, Angela. Thanks!
I would love a video on water as well Angela. Loved the leaves (mine will have to be summer though).
This is so beautiful. I can't wait to try this technique. I found a black snake skin and have been trying to use it to texture as well. Not having the best of luck.
Such a fabulous effect! Beautiful result =)
your are simply FANTASTIC!
This is so pretty! Thank you for sharing!
I love this so much!
Oh I'm loving this it's beautiful 😊
This is so lovely! And I think I might be able to do something like this! Your color selections are so pretty.I'd love to see how to loosely paint some birds.
Love this!
Awesome Tutorial! Love the leaves I would love to see more printmaking/stamping styles. and how you incorporate that into your work!
I have done some leaf stamping with brusho. 👌
Angela, this was great! I just came back from Maine (with some leaves in tow) and was trying to incorporate them in my watercolor book/journal for the trip. I used an ink pad and stamped a few that way, but I love what you have done here and am going to use this for one of my pages.
can't wait for morn to go out and gather some leafs
That's beautiful!
Fabulous! I love the looseness of this piece, and stamping is genius! What kind of brush are you using? Thank you.
I've always been afraid of watercolor, but I think I'll try this to loosen up with the medium. Thanks for the idea.
I just found your channel and I like how you teach. I’m sure to try this technique!
I'm interested in your violet painting and would like to see your first layer especially.
Oh yes, violets please, I do love that painting! Trudy
i love this, i think ill have a go....such yummy colours :)
