@@camroot4106 i just wish we had traded back to get a franchise changing haul...dallas rode one trade back to a decade of dominance...i miss days where we have a dominant line and we can put any qb with a strong arm behind center...

Jayden earned that #2 spot. The Heisman matters.

Jayden was a GREAT pick. I agree there are concerns about his ability to protect himself, but if he can do that, he will be a great QB.
Newton was the steal of the draft. While we did not need a defensive tackle, we picked the best player available and that will work out better for us.
Sainristill might be too small to play on the perimeter, but he's the best slot cornerback in the draft so I'll take that.
We desperately needed a tight end, many people thought Sinnott was the 2nd best one in the draft, and the best one went to the Raiders at #13, so that was a great pick.
I'm not sure Coleman will be able to play tackle like Peters hopes, but depth in the interior trenches is a good thing to have.
McCaffrey is just learning how to play wide receiver. Once he masters it, I expect him to be another steal.
Magee won't be an instant starter but he could help us out on special teams.
Dan Quinn has a better track record than anyone else of coaching up 5th round defensive back to be Pro Bowlers, and Hampton could be the latest one.
Baptiste is decent for his draft status and we needed an edge rusher.
This was a GREAT draft. Some people believe we had the best draft of any team.

He's played tackle, but probably isn't athletic enough to d o it in the NFL. He'll likely have to play guard

so this guy pretty much has no critical analysis of his own. in the most rote manner possible, he just compares the pick number to the consensus big board and then declares the pick a reach or a steal if the numbers don't align

    • @garyb7193
      @garyb7193 18 днів тому +5

Facts! WSH selected in the top picks in most rounds so getting their guy outside of lower picks and/or half dozen comp picks could appear to be reaching. I have no problem with that. I'd rather my team get "their guy" half to a full round early than miss out to another team being aggressive.

TLDR: they should have traded back to have the best chance at a bright future...
quarterbacks are not that big of a crap shoot as folks like to think...qbs no matter when they are drafted have a significantly higher hit rate if they are drafted by a team with an average or better oline....quarterbacks no matter when they are selected have a low hit rate if drafted to a team with a worse than average oline...quarterbacks almost never work out if they are drafted by a team with a bad oline...it really isnt rocket science, it is about knowing probability to maximize odds and being able to calculate opportunity cost correctly...
I like JD but he eats sacks for a living and that follows qbs into the nfl reliably. And, washington has a bad line....bad OTs....not good odds this will work out unless the OT issues were a coaching problem instead of a player problem.
the way teams pursue qbs is just poor thought process based mostly on desperation or ego. Desperation that if they cant find a qb they will lose their jobs. Ego that they can overcome a bad line with a rookie because they are such good coaches...the thinking is archaic and the nfl needs to cach up to Billy James and almost every other sport and trust math and statistics if they wish to on average come out ahead.
Teams that prepare their team for a new qb by getting a line, by getting weapons (solid hb and TE and slot guys that can reliably hit their mark) that can dig a qb out of a bad situation give young qbs a chance to succeed and gain confidence and learn, tend to stay relevant and never have those roster rebuild moments.

Drake May had a good 2022 and a average 2023 so why you on Brandon Coleman for the draft is all about upside and we have the coaches now to work with Ben Cenott or any of our players. It's not taking chances it's called instincts!!!

Sainstril went pick 50 what are you talking about? We traded out of 40 to get picks 50 and 53. The numbers onscreen are where he was drafted and where the mock draft database aggregate big board had them. i.e. Sainstril was picked 50 but was 40 in the aggregate big board.
