Waiting for the cops body cam.
We will never see it. If there was any footage it has been "lost". I wasn't there, I don't know what happened. I do know he didn't have enough fame to be instantly recognized and he didn't say "I'm the #1 player in the world". If he had been recognized he wouldn't have been put in cuffs and we would have never heard of this incident. If there is miraculously any footage I would love to see it. Everyone needs a dashcam nowadays as cops lie. A lot. Just watch some videos on YT and there thousands where the guy with the camera is saved from several felonies by a camera. Because the officer lied.
I hope we do get to see it one day. But the guy above me is probably right, Georgia police are notorious for muting and conveniently "forgetting to turn on" their body cams.

Sounds like the cop saw an opportunity for a medical retirement/lawsuit and grabbed it with both hands
As retired police officer in a senior executive position I can almost guarantee this is a situation that could have been avoided with sufficient supervision on the scene. This is a case of pissing of the police (POP) that should have been met with a citation given the circumstances. No probably an off-duty detail for the Louisville Police officers and any and all arrests should have a supervisor on the scene capable of discretion.
Very good info thanks for posting. My question is, this officer was a detective so hypothetically isn't he considered a superior to the rank and file officers already on the scene, and if so, would the local PD typically have a higher level person at a big/high profile event like this?
Not necessarily. Depends on the department. Some departments detectives are merely senior police officers, subordinate to sergeants (excluding detective sergeants) that conduct investigations. Some agencies detectives have some "authority" over others, within the parameters of a specific investigation. Detectives are often hired to work off-duty details, such as this golf tournament, with duties unrelated to their position in the department (e.g. traffic enforcement, executive protection). It is possible this detective was "on-duty" working the traffic fatality scene. I cannot imagine any circumstance that Scheffler would've made it from the site of the arrest, through the booking procedure and into a cell without a significantly high ranking member of the PD being apprised of the situation.
@@willlazenby1050Not necessarily. It depends on the department. I worked for 10 years and have never required permission or supervisor approval to make an arrest. The detective may have been working overtime or was simply available for the detail rather than taking someone from patrol off of the street. Just speculation.

I know what you mean, I had something worse and then you never forget it. Had a lot of respect for police before the incident, never have had since. Cops are just the worst idiots you went to school - nobody else would do that job nowadays.
Important point. How long does it take to drive 15 yards at 10 MPH? About 4 seconds (if I have my math right now). So the officer does something stupid and Scotty realizes the situation and stops in 4 seconds. Pretty fast reaction.
Exactly. But "dragged fifteen yards" sounds more dramatic and helps the officer's case
Math here is off. Usain Bolt can run faster than 20 mph, but he only runs about 11 yards per second in the 100 meter dash. If you stop 15 yards later while driving 10 mph, it takes more like 3 seconds to stop.
