      Thanks!! I will have to pressure them to help more once the weather improves. Yeah, there is a bit of a resurgence. A few years back I remember most people did not know what a Duster was, now it seems they are getting decently popular as far as old cars go. If we get lucky maybe it will make parts more affordable 😁.

    Great to see you break down the seats yourself!

    Marcos, they look great for a first time attempt.....it can only get better. The one thing about the '73 and '74 buckets that I noticed is that if the seat back has pleats running the entire length there may have been no need for the horizontal listing wire on the top near the head rest. I have seen some that have the head rest area plain with no pleats and the listing wire was used to seperate the head rest from the back which would have a pleated section running down the remainder of the seat back. If you dare maybe experiment with the other seat back and dont use the listing wire for comparison. I think you will find a better fitting cover. Just my opinion.

      Thanks! Yeah, I had a similar thought. I went and looked at photos of 74 seats and I noticed a range of how that horizontal dimple looked. Some seem not to have any at all, some have a deep groove like this one. I also think maybe with the listing channel being crooked, maybe the pocket might be too deep on one side. Either way, it definitely is worth testing no listing wire, something about that channel just is not right. Appreciate the input!!😀

    Also lets just be honest, you did WAAAAY better than I am going to do. I'm too lazy to redo my seats, so I'm just gonna hit em with a little vinyl paint and send it lol

      Lol, thanks!! Yeah, I was looking at that vinyl paint, seems like a good option for restoring minor wear/damage. I might use some of it on other trim.

    A couple of tips put the new seat skins out in the hot sun, for an hour or more if you can. Second, use some plastic bag, like dry cleaning plastic that is put on over your cleaned clothes. The plastic bag will help the new vinyl skins on the seats. Otherwise its like pulling a pair of pantyhose on a 600 pound lady.. its a wrestling match.

    You did a great job, I live up near Lebanon, Oh and if you need help if I don;t have the answer I know enough people I will come up with the answer. I built the motor in my 80 Vette 383 sbc stroker motor from a bare block so I know my way around motors.

    Bro the cost of upholstery ain't no joke. That's why buying full fit stock covers that you replace yourself off places like classic industries is so popular. Door panels are super easy to make I just made a couple on my channel. You can make 2 front panels and 2 rear panels for $100.

    • @DustorBust
      @DustorBust  3 роки тому

      Yeah man, I was shocked. I will probably try to make some door panels at some point, but will hopefully get it running so I can have some fun first.

      Why do folks spend tons of money on engines, paint, etc., then think the upholstery guy is ripping him off?

    Great work! I need to redo the back seat in my 69 fastback cuda and really dread it. I’m going black but it’s actually got a green and yellow plaid on the back seat that if my new front wasn’t black I’d be inclined to go back with the pattern. But looks like I’ll just go black to make things easier. Are there any cool shops to visit in your area? We take my son to the area once a month to the childrens hospital and stay at the great wolf lodge. I’ve not been exploring much outside of the hotel but maybe a block away to get food and that’s about it. I check the area market place on fb and haven’t seen anything really grab me. Thanks for the video’s and it helps inspire me to get after my car which is mostly in boxes right now. Man if it could just get up in the 40-50’s at night I’d feel more inclined to hit the garage to get a few things done. I’m going with a late 70’s 360 la with a 904 from the mid 80’s. I’ve just been dragging getting stuff done with weather and the lockdowns keeping my kids home 24/7.

      Hey Thanks! Yeah, it is tough right now. Both Covid issues and winter. Even with a garage heater I am not enjoying being out there. The yellow and green sounds interesting/sweet, but it sounds like black is the better option based on the other seats. I wouldn't even know where to find a cover that matched.
      There are a few cool things to check out in Cincinnati. More when the weather is good. Zoo is great when the weather is good. The aquarium down in newport is pretty cool and is indoors. Depending on age I have heard the Entertrainment Junction in West Chester is cool. The Children's Museum downtown is also cool and indoors. Kings Island in the summer. Little Miami river has some canoe rental outfitters in better weather. A little bit of a drive, but the Airforce Museum in Dayton is also pretty awesome. Good luck!

      @@DustorBust thank you sir, I’ll check those places out. Great wolf is where we stay is right in Kings Island parking lot. I tell you something great for your garage is a rolling propane cabinet heater. Mine puts out great and especially good with a cheap pedestal fan behind it to blow the heat. It takes grill tank but I bought a adapter to use a 100lb tank I got from tractor supply. It’s got three burners and all the safety things like low oxygen shutoff and tip over. You can get one $100 or less on eBay or hardware stores. We even used this one in the house after a tornado had our power out for two weeks. I used the heater buddy brand cabinet but there’s other brands too. My garage is detached and metal 22x33 so I have 20 degree swings in cold or heat just walking in it. So I’ve got a wood stove that cranks the heat to make it comfortable but I burn the propane cabinet until I get the fire going in the stove.

      Nice, I will keep that in mind. I have a small electric unit I put in, but it is not quite cutting it. Thanks for the tip!
