"I'd like to get $400,000"
"I'd like Rebecca to marry me. Lets see who get luckier"
The 1894-S dime is a proof only issue. Meaning the 1894-S dime is not meant for circulation. I highly doubt anybody would find one digging in a garden.
I've found coins that were proof only strikes in flower beds, backyards, school yards..just about everywhere in 38 years of swinging a metal detector.
@@michaelh.8280 I HIGHLY doubt it. You misunderstood what I meant by "proof only" strike. A "proof only" coin is different from a typical proof coin. "Proof only" coins only exist as proofs, with no business strike examples. For example, the 1895 Morgan dollar was only produced as a proof. The 1895 Morgan dollar was not issued for circulation. Many "proof only" coins are patterns, prototypes, or experimental strikes. "Proof only" coins were often made in secret or were gifted to high ranking Mint employees and politicians. For example, the 1804 dollar was presented to foreign diplomats. These are not coins that can be found in flower beds. Call me if you ever find a School Girl dollar.......
@@Bandit1978 Hey Ted, are you a numismatist? I don't think so. According to PCGS Coinfacts, only 24 exist. As I said earlier, the 1894-S dime is a "proof only" issue. The dimes would be given to influential people like Mint directors, politicians, and notable collectors. No million dollar US coin has ever been dug from the ground. The most valuable US coins are sold from the estates of wealthy individuals. Almost every time a collector dies, their entire collection is put to auction by their descendents. You can't compare a 1894-S dime to your grandparents old coins. Most people who watch Pawn Stars are clueless about coins. Most people on the Internet are clueless about coins. Yet you guys think you know more about coins than an actual collector like myself. The collective ignorance in the comments section is astounding.
The big tip he knew it was a fake when he said NGC couldn't tell what date it was and didn't graded it it's not genuine the top 3 PCGS,NGC and ANACS all will not grade a fake.
@@orlandotheman8245 Finally an intelligent, well thought out comment!
If NGC couldn't even certify that this coin was the real thing, then Rick was smart enough not to buy it. A coin that expensive has to be certified by NGC or PCGS, otherwise it can easily be a fake.
Idk why but his smile throughout the video was strange. Kinda seemed like he knew something wasn’t right
They're acting so they both knew it was fake
I’ve been watching to many of these and I’ve came to the realization that every old coin is one of the rarest coins out there
Somehow, you nor, I have never found one. 🤣
Well, if it was a common one, they will not make a video about it.. it was a real paid TV show.. not a tiktok video..
Poor guy. You can hear the enormous let-down when he says "ok".
I know it's worth 25k, best I can do is a $50 gift certificate to McDonald's and a cab ride with Chum.
I'll take it!
Got to split fare with Chum.
It's even more rare it's an 189 AD Dime !
Kaynos minted in San Francisco before the mint even existed which makes it even more rare
She scrubbed it with a Scotchbrite pad because we didn't have any gravel...
or sandpaper
At 2:17 I think I can see a faded 4 but I’m not sure
The markings look more like a 5
Go to 1:14
I see a 4.
Like a 6
It does look like a 4 to me too.. But the fact that he found it in his garden and with the number of them that were created and the probability that not just any old person would have ever been in possession of one , the chances would have been astronomical that it would be real.
You can kinda see what appears to be a loop on the lower portion of the missing number. I was thinking possibly an 8 or maybe a 6.
"I wish it was real." ... "Me too."
Lol I thought that guy was gonna have a panic attack right then and there. Look at how upset he is in the end interview..
Yah, my wife cleaned it with an oxyacetylene torch.
When you find a coin and it looks rare, the first thing you should do is scrub it with sandpaper. Please, just leave it in the ground.
What? No
He brought in a 1894 F Dime.
2:16
I can see 1894 perfectly fine.
i thought i saw a faint outline of a 4
When the date is gone, it does play some mind tricks. It appears to be like that but reality is not. Also, it’s really hard for proof coins worn out like that so it has slick chance of being 1894
You can faintly see… you seeing the 4 is seeing what you want to see
Coins are struck, not printed and why did the seller think that Mr. Harrison would buy a coin that was rejected by NGC?
I have 1000 silver dimes so just went through them...two Barber heads, but 1906 with no mint mark (worn off) and 1911 D.
His wife is a real gem
He was just trying to scam Rick :))
"I have this item I'd like to sell."
"WHERE DID YOU GET THAT?!"
Being a coin collector, I know what that feels like getting your hopes up. 😭
same bro
0:12 Rick already knows it’s fake
still .....miss old man!!👍👍👍
You do not "Print" coins. You "Mint" or "Strike" coins.
Correct.
There is also an acid called nic-o-date
@@johnengland8619that’s for nickels…
You lose, .... good day sir
80sruler be nice Mr Wonka lol
Top shelf Wonka quote
Deepest scratches just happened to be where the 4 should be.
Man, pausing the video you can see a line arch that is clearly either a 4 or 7 through the wear. I'm surprised there is no way to compare it or prove even with that level of damage.
Most likely there is, but these people lack skills, knowledge, and perseverance to attempt such tasks...or...just maybe it's scripted?
You are absolutely correct if you look hard enough you can see what appears to be an outline of the number 4.
If NGC couldn’t read it why would he think homeboy could?
The guy is constantly smiling must of thought that he could pull fast one...
Go to EXACTLY 1:47 in this video. You can SEE the 4 if you look hard at it.
Yea if you squint your eyes hard enough XD
I guess you can assume that last number is whatever you want when half a million is a possibility.
You can tell that guy killed someone for that coin. Its not his. His face says it all “i did all that for nothing” Lmao
It's very clear its an 1896 S.
Mr. Brown spend his last Barber dime at Caesars Palace famously
At 0:41 is not a good image for rick
Is it just me or Pawn Stars' dialogues are so good it's kinda scripted?
Scripted and rescripted. Show is 90 percent faked. Still fun to watch.
@@EmilyTienne yeah
yeah every item people bring in rick knows everything about
He had a smirk on his face, until he found out it wasn't real.
He knew it wasn't real.
I can see maybe guessing 1894 but he had to have seen the price for an S issue and decided that’s what he had.
I have a 1899 Barber dime.
No, she scrubbed $399,999.99 off of the coin.
my grandma has one
i swear on my life
i would pay him a dollar for the scrap silver content of the coin
Mr Brown an I get along famously because he stayed silent this time, I like it
I swear I can sort of see the 94 on it.
If they can raise a serial number that has be ground off of a handgun, I bet that date could be raised in a lab somewhere.
ricknos can get at least 50 percents discount when he sighs( his infinity sigh) because he pursue "the balance" he does look like thanos
Everytime he sees a coin he always says the same thing of most expensive American coins
Rick is the best
Pawn Stars: 1894 S Dime: 2:40min later, it’s nothing actually.
While I was serving Uncle Sam, my younger brothers spent my entire coin collection of quarters, dimes and pennies on ice cream and sno-cones.
This hurts
400000 :151 soon as I heard that I went to a different video didn't finshed watching the video.
Printed???....Uhmm no....."struck"
Guy says I have an item worth 50 grand. Rick says let me call my friend. Expert says it the real deal and its actually worth 100 grand. Rick says ok I can pay you 10 bucks, half a cheeseburger and Chums autograph. And I am taking a big risk here.
So, how much are the other barber dimes S from the 1890’s? It’s for sure from 1890 to 1899. But most collectors still don’t want a scrubbed coin.
UPDATE: This man's wife was subsequently found buried in the garden.
Best I can do is two of these small tootsie rolls. SIR I SAID TWO!!!
It’s too bad the Pawn Stars sold their souls and aren’t doing the store anymore. 😞
I’m an Aspie so I can’t read people very well, but in certain moments the seller looks weird, like when he’s smirking or smiling-something seems off about him
afaik I'm not an Aspie, but I don't think I read people well either.
Weeding the carrots... Comedy gold.
No other numbers have a sharp 1 o clock like that
2:10 it’s an 1896 coin
Rick crushes another dream
I found one when I was little in Walmart. Lost it
Doggone HD does anyone believe you, no. And also I’m taking this as a joke so I hope you are joking
Braxton Lake it’s been 8 months.
The owner knew before he walked in it wasnt real ..... fair play to him for trying though.
Hey the coin reads 1984 if you watch the top of it you can see a part of the 4
So you go to a pawn shop for $400K?
Some pawn shops could afford even much more than that. Rick made a offer of 2 million dollars before on a item.
How much is this if i will sell it?
What a maroon.
I can see the 4 in 1894..it's barely visible but it's there...
One sold for $2 mil!!
He obviously knew that wasn’t the real thing. He had no reaction.
1:30 its over! even NGC can't certify it so its over.
Rick would have been taking all the risk here
1:48 & 2:10 I can see 1890 or 1896
2:16 looks like 1896 or 1898
THIS IS A RE-UPLOAD
Call the police
I bet he made the whole thing up and he just scratched off the end date so no one could really tell and hope Rick would do a impulse buy
Divorce came shortly after...
Yeah, they 'printed' the coin
Those smile turned upside down fast your wife ruined your future "its time for a divorce "
L.A./SD Chargers ⚡🏈🌴 Superbowl 29 💵💸🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙🪙💰
Dude took it pretty hard.
His smile is creepy
Frankly my dear, I don't give a dime.
every coin episode that coin is the rarest how are these people finding these things
good afternoon i have a 1976 quarter how its worth
I have a 1994 dime tell me what is it worth
I Got One But Its 1893 Year Bellow That One Barber S Dime
That dime looked well circulated .Another clue it was not 1894 date proof
That makes zero sense since there are circulated 1894 s’s, even if there wasn’t that still doesn’t make sense, you’re just repeating what he said and he’s not even right.
That must hurt. LOL!
this is why you get coins graded and authenticated before you go to a pawn shop and look like a fool.
@phil erup Not ice cream, but maybe just a cheap cigarette. Those are a dime a dozen.
Coins are struck NOT printed
Bruh he's lucky his wife even gardens. I do gardening around my household as well as full time work. Men should take care of their women and do work so they don't have to
Shut up
1898 IT was
I'll give you 10dimes cause its gonna be here a long time
Hello! I have a D Barber Dime , We went to a coin shop and had it looked at. They said it was worth 4 dollars. It was in good condition .So I was just wondering how much A D barber Dime is worth there
I'll give you 10C and I'm taking all the risk! XD. But seriously what's the date?
No ice cream for you
These is why you do not clean your coins
Looking at the coin, it looks like either
1894
1899
1898
Wife found it and lost it
