Nonetheless, personally, It is crazy to pay so much monies to just collect and purchase one single coin, just becos, it is a rare coin and there are few samples still exist. The logic and reasoning .. eludes me.

I love the 1916 Standing liberty quarter or 1917 type 1 Standing liberty. I didn’t hear the date. Judging by what Rick said it was worth, it’s surely the 1917 type 1. Nowadays, a coin of that quality would bring considerably more money all day long even on eBay.
Idk, so many fakes of old coins. The rounds they make of old coin designs look really good so I'm sure there are just too many fake old coins. I like the new coins now.

Why anyone would bring something valuable to someone who will pay the very least amount they can for what you got vs selling it online/auction to someone who's gonna pay top dollar for it.
Auctions involve listing, handling, shipping, the auction might not make the base price and there is no back and forth negotiating. Don't have the hassle of dealing with online parasites. No fees, as you can see in this clip one guy wasn't able to sell at an auction but would have still forked out fees and additional costs, as you do online. Pawn shop is secure, you get your money. Pawn shops have expertise and you know what the value is compared to your sell cost. Most importantly, people get money straight away rather than a drawn out selling process and can go straight to the roulette wheel.

So the man comes in to sell a gold coin asking for 2k finds out it's worth 18k and then once the full 18K if I was Rick I would have pointed that out and then just told him to go somewhere else.

The first old man that came in knew exactly what he had on his hands with those two coins I mean he was spot he definitely gave Rick a good deal selling that one for $150,000 Rick probably made it easy 30 to 50K off that no problem
I like the way these guys keep it square with their customers what I don’t like is when they call someone in to appraise something snd the customer finds out it’s worth a ton more then they asked for then ask for the number that it was appraised at. Smh
To sell a gold coin valued at approx..18,000 for 11,000 is crazy. Rick get approx..a 7,000 mark up. That's some profit. I would have walked out with the coin and had it auctioned. Any coin collector would have paid at least 15,000 plus for it...

Now a days there is a syndicate in auction houses. Person who has zero knowledge can be fooled easily so I think this was good price.. I have seen how collectors family cheated by his friends and dealers after his death when family is not aware with prices and knowledge.

Auctions are risky and the fees are horrendous. The next problem when you have coins like these are finding someone with very deep pockets .
