Holy crap, UA-cam must have sensed my thoughts. I was thinking about this cartoon a few days ago because I never knew that Mark Hamill was the Count. It's also a nice touch how Nina going to bed and the Count waking up are contrasts to each other.
You took the words right out of my mouth. If this stayed in CN, I bet you Mina and The Count will cross over with Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. That would be awesome.
The reason why Nickelodeon rejected Mina and the Count as a series was because Nick didn't really feel comfortable about a vampire hanging out with a little girl.
I have not seen this in so many years. I just learned mark hamill did the voice of the count. Just seeing this episode brings back so much nostalgia to me (I’m 30 btw)
@@jordanpeterson5038 well this short was made in the late 90's and the others were in the 2000's. Plus if i remember from the film "What Woman Want" Ashley was a teenager back then.
1. Turns out she had a sister. 2. Mark Hamill did Vlad's voice?! Cool! 3. This would've been really good as a complete cartoon but i think Vlad should've turned into a bat i he wanted to come across as a toy.
Even though Dracula in this cartoon becomes friends with a little girl, it is a lot truer to what Vampires are really like, unlike Twilight, and I like the horror references. This show deserves a proper series.
Sydney Hamilton And that line was spoken by none other than Ashley Johnson, AKA Terra from Teen Titans, Jinmay from the Robot Monkey Team show, and Ellie from The Last of Us.
"your parents must be so proud of such a beauuutiful,adooorable...DARLING,SWEET,PRECIOUS! ...aggrivating child...-_-" lol best part of the cartoon,i find. xD
It's a shame this show never took off. Still the story, animation and characters are fun and this is basically how the "Grim Adventures of Bill and Mandy" came to be.
After watching the other episodes of Mina and the Count, I realise that it is so funny that a vampire would give a little girl the time of day. He is such an affectionate vampire ^_^
I remember seeing this in the 1990s (It feels so long ago now). It's a great feature that showcases the early work of Rob Renzetti (MY LIFE AS A TEENAGE ROBOT) and Mark Hamill (who went on to voice the Joker). In fact Hamill is the star as the sinister, put-upon but sweet vampire who befriends a mortal girl, and the music is both cartoonishly Gothic and humorous. My favourite moments are 1:57-2:14, 4:10-4:28, 6:12-6:23 and 6:30-6:45. It's a shame this feature didn't get enough respect, but at least it had 5 episodes and holds a strong fanbase.
Oh yes. Usually Thomas Chase and Steve Rucker use synthesizers for their music (like in "Dexter's Laboratory" and "The Powerpuff Girls"), but here they also added a real violin for a touch of class!
I heard they considered this to be a supporting feature on "Dexter's Laboratory" when that show got greenlit for production. That would've been neat to see, but then we wouldn't have Monkey, Agent Honeydew and the Justice Friends!
Except for the part where he smacks that poor cat, this is a cute/fun cartoon and I'm glad they made a few more shorts with Mina and the Count that you can find right here on youtube.
You're not the only one! I was thinking the same thing cause I use to be upset with him for doing that when I was younger! But now I absolutely see it super funny as Hack! LOL!!! 😂😂😂
I looked for this cartoon because I recently learned they made more cartoons of Mina and the Count for nickelodeon. watching this again, I remember for some strange reason, I thought it was funny when the Count said "and I'll hide." at 4:23.
The What A Cartoon Show On Cartoon Network Brings Back Memories To Kids Everywhere And I Wish That They Can Show All The 1990 Cartoons That Were On In The Past!
Hey Voldy2006, thanks for putting this cartoon on youtube. I was thinking that I was never going to see this, but I'm glad that I was wrong. Thanks again.
If I did time-travel...I could help Renzetti with the cartoon via Disney and my dream studio....even if Disney did buy out ABC. The wholesomeness of a friendship between a girl and a vampire is something one can learn and definitely something Disney will appreciate. I mean, this predates Monsters Inc. (the whole monster befriending a girl thing and what not), so if I time-travel (if real), this would become Monsters Inc. before Monsters Inc.
now this is pure cartoons thank you for uploading these this is where the greats started like the guy who made family guy and butch hartman who created fairly odd parents

mark hamill was a jedi, the joker, the hobgoblin, salomon grundy, larry 3000 and skeletor
And not for the last time! He was also Vampire Jim in the FX version of What We Do in The Shadows
[REDACTED]

Plus the Fire Lord, Skeleton King, and the Elder Mentor Frog Old Jir from Kulipari: An Army of Frogs.
Nina no, MINA
Holy shit, Mark Hamill did the voice of the count. Man, that guy really gets around with his voice acting career.
The cartoon that inspired "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy", ladies and gentlemen.
Jackie McCann Which is funny because I watch discovered this short through the Grim Tales comic.
You took the words right out of my mouth. If this stayed in CN, I bet you Mina and The Count will cross over with Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. That would be awesome.

Josiah Ritchie but the President of Nick was comfortable with Dan Schneider... You know what, nevermind
To close to reality.
God I hate this planet.
Meaning they didn’t have the stones to do it. Sissy’s
The intended target was still underaged, 17.
That's because they already had someone that was hanging out with little girls

I can hear it a little bit at 2:26
Wow after all these years I never knew that. The credits go by so fast I can never tell half the time
@@jordanpeterson5038 here's another fun fact: Mina was first voiced by Ashley Johnson before she was later voiced by Tara Strong.
@@animeknight8958 seriously? I can't even hear it either version. Though I suppose they were younger at the time.

It's a shame this was such a short series, but Master Rob Renzetti showed himself to be a talented cartoonist and that he really knows his stuff.
That was adorable. He changed his schedule to include Mina!
1. Turns out she had a sister.
2. Mark Hamill did Vlad's voice?! Cool!

oh my god I remeber this exact cartoon as a kid. it was like 14 years ago when I watched it.
Nostalgia is too good.
i love Count's pronunciation xD
The way he talks, he's such a dear
"Schedule? I took care of your IDIOTIC schedule!"
I love how the coffin jumps up when he says that line!
XD
Me too! Proves just how angry he was at hearing the word, “schedule”.
Even though Dracula in this cartoon becomes friends with a little girl, it is a lot truer to what Vampires are really like, unlike Twilight, and I like the horror references. This show deserves a proper series.

This short was created by the same guy that did "my life as a teenage robot"
Character designs by Craig too.
That Mark Hamill doing count voice and Ashley Johnson doing Mina voice.
This is the last time Igor's in charge of the schedule!!
I miss this, "What a Cartoon!", seeing these little cartoon shorts on tv and feeling a sense of "woah!".
Rob Renzetti before My Life as a Teenage Robot

Um, Dracula, your Joker side is showing!
After watching the other episodes of Mina and the Count, I realise that it is so funny that a vampire would give a little girl the time of day. He is such an affectionate vampire ^_^
Another great Mark Hamill performance!
If the legendary late, great Mel Blanc can get a documentary after he died, then Mark Hamill probably can, too!

I'm here because Mark Hamill retweeted this. He is the voice of the Count.
"Mina Harper." I see what you did there.
I can't believe I never knew the Count was Mark Hamil. Ugh. I'm disappointed in myself.
OptimusProwlGirl He did a pretty convincing job, yes.

Wish this had been made into a full show, it is so cute.
Count Vlad, you're fang-tastic.
I pat my cats' heads the way I do because of this cartoon.
My cat had about five brain cells by the time he died.
I'm actually upset that this didn't win, but cow and chicken did....
I loved when she petted the cat and the cat was just O___O
Just like my cat...
I was reading Dracula when I remembered this. Finally looked it up. Apparently there was more than just this one episode. Who knew?
I remember this was on my Scooby doo vhs, the nostalgia… and another great performance by Mark! :D

Gah, I love Mark Hamill's voice work. Joker, Hobgoblin, and the Count!
Wonderful, great nostalgia
Igor's laugh just when he comes to the frame and exactly when the count drinks the blood ^^
This show is why I fell in love with vampires.
I heard they considered this to be a supporting feature on "Dexter's Laboratory" when that show got greenlit for production. That would've been neat to see, but then we wouldn't have Monkey, Agent Honeydew and the Justice Friends!
I feel stupid for not realizing who the Count was before. His laugh kind of gives it away. I love this cartoon :D
A perfect cartoon for Halloween special.
Mark Hamill should've done vampire characters like the count more often. His voice in this cartoon reminds me of Bela Lugosi's Dracula
