Most of the “What a cartoon” shorts have such a unhinged and violent feel to them. They would be right at home re-airing in current Adult Swim
That jazz theme is so legendary
Oh, it certainly is!
It is, the most coolest jazz music I've ever heard.
🎶
Right on!😁👍🏿
The music was composed by Joey Altruda.
I love that the "big, fat louts" end up being the good guys who save the cat and teach the jerk a few valuable lessons on compassion to his spine. Way to undermine stereotypes!
Reilly just made the biggest and fatalist mistake of his life.
Nah, i don't blame him. Most people would bodied any animal for doing that to their expensive apartment
@@BrandonKohout Did The Guy Say The B word
@@shriderrad4123You can not say that the ginger cat did not warn him.
Even Topcat was there, so you KNOW it was a party!
His gang members are absent, however...
Shouldn't the party be an excellent place for Fancy-Fancy to test his Casanova skills? He could have given Fix some new ideas!
@@PlusmaGun He shouldf have invited the gang!
Scott Wills really stepped out of John Kricfalusi’s Ren & Stimpy to create this short. The unhinged, violent humor combined with the art style essentially makes this a clone to R&S. That’s actually not a bad thing!
This is definitely one of the two most "Ren & Stimpy"-esque "What a Cartoon" shorts, along with Eddie Fitzgerald's "Tales of Worm Paranoia" in 1996.
Yeah that's why the cartoon looks Ren and Stimpy-ish
This cartoon really has a Games Animation feel to it, mostly due to both later Ren and Stimpy and this short being done by similar staff.
@@kiartoons2010 spumco made R&S at least until he got fired
Never abuse animals because if you do your crazy
Bob Jaques you never dissappoint with your solid wild cartooning skills. Christopher Riccardi as Well. He really does have a trait of keeping characters angry.
Ahhh the mid 1990s, the "how the hell did this get on television" era of television cartoons including Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, Cow and Chicken (birthed from What A Cartoon), Dexter's Lab (same), etc. I remember these cartoons well. :)
This is how it STILL should be today!
Today's cartoons are so effing boring. Everything is nerdy fan fiction.

I'm somewhat convinced....
4:14 Top Cat makes a cameo. Guess he didn't invite the gang.
Not this time. ;)
I am a huge fan of Kevin Michael Richardson and this cartoon was the first time I heard his work when I was a kid.
Was he the orange cat?
@@Tsubasa2030 yes
That was KMR?? Woah!
And he is STILL goin' strong!
@@Tsubasa2030 Yes, and the two Humane Society guys.
This looks like a mix of Ralph Bakshi, John K and Genndy Tartakovsky
Some of the people who worked on this including Jim Smith & Lynne Naylor worked with them, so they must have taken influences from various projects they worked on over the years.
Like Bob Clampett, Chuck Jones, and Tex Avery.
IT IS. John K produced it uncredited.
You can def see some thumbnail drawings that look Bob Camp-ish, but I imagine those were Chris Reccardi
Bakshi's work isn't this polished and Tarkovsky's stuff is flat.
Those animal control units are some of the most based employees I have ever seen
>SIR are you aware it is unlawful to commit any line of abuse towards animals in the state of New York?
Give these men a promotion. That's some top shelf service
No, seriously, these guys really mean seriously business!
I bet they did.
it's been forever since i've seen this but i love how this short feels like a mixture of games animation era ren & stimpy and dexter's lab/powerpuff girls (and considering the credits are full of alumni members of both show's staff it makes sense)
I am 26 years old. I have graduated studies, postgraduate studies. I have been working in financial environment, and in some nice day I remembered that I had watching this cartoon when I was a little. Then, when I was watching this cartoon Cartoon Network in my country was only in english speech and I remember that I had the same fun as acctualy. Thank you youtube to drive me to my childhood and make me a fun :) I have grown up on these cartoons :)
"Hey, be nice to the kitty!"
"Oh, I'm sorry. Did you say, 'be nice to the kitty'? You don't mean...this kitty? I'm always nice to this kitty! Always petting him and whatnot!"
(GASPS)
"Feeding him!"

"Is this the Humane Society? You better get over here right away!"
"Walking him!"
"I don't know what he's capable of!"
"Hello, neighbors! Isn't he cute?! Ha ha ha ha! Eating him!"
(The man poking at reily)
This was one of my favorite Cartoon Cartoon shorts. Seeing Top Cat as a cameo really made my day when I was a kid.
"All right, cat, listen up, I bought you to impress the dish, so don't get any lofty ideas about putting your paws on my property, all right? Am I gettin' through to you?! And furthermore, if I find one scratch on any of my stuff, I'm gonna donate your guts to the violin factory!"

I love it! Usually when you see characters who look like me, they're somebody's henchmen or a bully, but these two are all right.

This looks extremely similar to Ren and Stimpy 3-5 seasons! The post John K seasons
More like ...seasons 1 and 2..and..same of the folks from R&S were involved here as well

HOLY SHIT THIS. I REMEMBER THIS.
Fun fact: Fix and Grim have the same voice actor.
Which character is Grim?
So, the moral of this short, important lesson is this: "Don't mess with cats or else you're gonna get your bones and stuff broken by the humane society, and they really mean serious business!"
That's right!
Mm-hmm, and that ain't no joke, and it ain't cool, either.
Yeah in fact don't buy any pets just to impress women. In Australia there's an old jingle from the RSPCA I live by which is why I don't adopt pets until I know more about them "Don't buy a pet unless you're prepared to love it for life."
Yes, that is true.
Y’all are absolutely right animal cruelty is Not a Joke
2:01 the amount of apathy this guy had for the cat was pretty damn revolting.
I miss this kind of senseless violence, television really only got worse over the years, I’m glad I’m old enough to have known this kind of cartoon
I love 'What a cartoon show'
And I love this guy's apartment xD
oMFG I've always had a faint memory of this cartoon, remembering of a guy that was mean and cruel to a cat and it traumatized me and made me so sad.
It's been like YEARS and I finally found it again, I'm literally crying both bc I'm now sure that it really existed and bc I'm traumatized again by that guy's ways of treating that poor cat 😭
Good thing the woman called the humane society when she did😕😉
Aww, isn't that sweet? I see two cool cats resting on Miss Sophie. She's not abusive at all. Oh, no, she's really a nice person.

I remember seeing this on Cartoon Network about two decades ago.
Underrated pilot, dunno if it would've translated well to a full series (almost feels more like they wanted this to be a one-off short) but the mixture of CN renaissance staff (Craig McCracken, Genndy Tartakovsky, Rob Renzetti, etc) and some of the best of the Ren & Stimpy crew (Scott Wills, Chris Reccardi, Lynne Naylor, Bob Jaques, Mike Fontanelli, Jim Smith, Ramon Zibach) creates this perfect mixture between Dexter's Lab/PPG and Games-era R&S. It's leagues above Tales of Worm Paranoia by Eddie Fitzgerald which tries to emulate the energy of the prime Spumco years of Ren and Stimpy but just has too much clunk in its animation
“I’ll donate your guts to the violin factory!” That’s what they make violins out of?!
It’s called “catgut” but it’s made from goat, donkey, pig, horse etc 🤷♂️

If they greenlited as a TV show, most episodes would be rated as TV-Y7 and some ones, TV-PG due to some violence. Maybe would be known for the animation a mix of early Spumcö-era R&S episodes and Dexter's Lab.
