    Great video!
    07:58 "if I need less of that high end I use my Guitar to roll the high end off"
    --> Well said!
    Despite what a lot of folks think, the Les Paul is an extremely versatile tone monster! I like to remind folks to play about with those volume and tone controls, try also setting the middle pickup selector position and using the controls to dial in a huge range on tones. You can also consider changing the pots (responsible for much of the LP's tone) to give a different initial and rollout behaviour - lots of info online. A lot of folks think that having those pots set at anything but max will "degrade tone" - for these folks I'd say check out a few Gary Moore live youtube videos for a master level lesson e.g. turning a high gain lead tone into a bright clean tone, and everything in between, just with those knobs. Of course, you will 'feel this' most when playing live in a band setting, especially through a real tube amp. If you don't use those guitar knobs, you're literally throwing away way more than half the cost of the guitar!

    Man your tone always sounds so thick and juicy. I know I heard you say in a video a while back you weren’t to fond of bare knuckle pickups I recently put a nailbomb alnico 5 version in my les Paul because I wanted something a little more rocking than the standard burstbucker. I’m still trying to adjust to the high output and voice of it though messing with the height a whole bunch trying to get it to a sweet spot. It seems like I find a good place then the next day I’ll be like well I don’t know. It seems like I just can’t get it in a place where I’m fully satisfied with it. Didn’t know if you had any suggestions for anything to try probably just a different pickup I guess. The thing is if you wanna do ripping 80s licks and stuff like that it’s phenomenal but I play a lot of blues licks to and it just doesn’t seem to cut it for that stuff to much aggression. I guess I’m looking for the perfect in between pickup something in between the classic paf pickup and a high output shred machine. I thought about maybe trying a Friedman classic plus.

    I've been playing for abt 16 years but just recently added a Gibson Les Paul to the arsenal. I've played a lot of Gibsons over the years and never had one that felt quite right. What a Tone MONSTER! I can just plug directly into my Rivera and get a tone that is ridiculous. Has become one of my 'Go To' guitars for that beautifully thick lead tone and absolutely raucous rhythm. Never thought I'd say that I'm in love with a Les Paul but I really am.

    I can't get a sound I like out of my Paul. It's a 2001 Korea Epi. The original pickups were fine, looking back. I had a guy make me some new pickups, he said they were "Page copies," but they sound so bad. But I don't know if that's what's wrong. I have replaced all the hardware, but my neck is off axis in all three directions so bad that I actually had to get a custom nut with the three smaller string notches farther up just so I'm not flat in the top register, and I have to pull my pickups back to less than flush or the strings hit them, and my high e string is too close to the edge of the frets so it slips off the fingerboard really easily. So yes, it is possible to have a bad LP tone; in fact it's possible to have one that you literally can't use because it sounds like donkey brays no matter what you do with it. Luckily a friend of mine lent me a Tele amer. pro., which I can't get a tone out of that I don't like. And there, my life story. I'm trying to remember to talk less but oh well.

    So.. My $40 Epi Junior with a Series Parallel switching SD Full Shred.. My $20 Peavey Bandit Silver stripe and 11-50 NYXL. Done... The rest is setup player and using the volume and tone on the guitar... Parallel cleans up a non treble bleed humbucker better than turning down the volume.

      @the_nondrive_side 4 роки тому

      @@ImpostorModanica Google my friend. Best mod on a single humbucker guitar. Actually it really makes having anything more overkill. Series (the default wiring of a humbucker) makes it loud and midrange heavy and cuts the treble off.. Parallel is significantly quieter but has a much more open sound and can make an aweful sounding muddy humbucker come to life. If you hate the tone of a Neck humbucker rewire it in Parallel internally and it usually will be good afterwards assuming you don't wreck it... Having them wired to a push pull pot you can set just switch between the two for lead tones or whatever you set at the amp.

    Tones using a tube would be awesome, exploring this with a strat and tele as well (other guitars as well like RG’s and what not also doesn’t hurt) would be great too! Thank you for the tips 🤘🏼

    Do you sidechain and duck your reverb? If not, you should.

      Man I’m not sure what that even means 😅

      @@RobertBakerGuitar It's where you send your signal to a second channel that's just for reverb, but you compress that reverb out of the way. Like a wet/dry setup but in your daw and actually even better, look up a how to and I promise you'll love it. Search "side chaining" and "reverb," "compression," "ducking," etc.
